  1. I actually think the Jalen Carter situation could impact the Bears decision here. If the goal was to trade down and still get one of the top 2 defensive players then this could absolutely be a factor. If they trade down to #4 with the Colts then you know Arizona is going to take Will Anderson now, leaving the Bears without a clear pick. Because of this I think our clearest path to #1 is to first trade up to #3 and then up to #1. I think this would make us the most attractive trade partner for the Bears. Something like: CAR RECEIVES: #3 overall pick + 2023 5th round pick. ARZ RECEIVES: #9 + #61 + 2023 3rd round pick + 2024 3rd round pick. And then... CAR RECEIVES: #1 overall pick. CHI RECEIVES: #3 overall pick + 2024 1st round pick. Or for that matter maybe the Bears decide that since they can't get a top defensive player at #4 that they'd just assume trade down to #9 and get more in return.
  2. I wonder how long before we see a female GM in the NFL? I know Cleveland hired Catherine RaƮche as their assistant GM last year, but I'm not real familiar with any other women who are working their way up the GM ladder. Maybe Jordan can get there one day.
  3. Safety could be tricky given Jeremy Chinn's presence. If we spend even remotely big on a safety it's probably a good indicator that Chinn will be playing more linebacker this year. Which is interesting since it's tough to find an obvious fit for him in our new scheme. He's not really an edge rusher but is also undersized for a 3-4 inside 'backer.
  4. Well if it's Bryce Young they're after we're definitely trading up. I also thought it was interesting that he mentioned QBs coming in "all shapes and sizes." Seems to indicate Young as well.
  5. A full 1st round mock I just did with a few trades included: - Colts trade up to #1 for Will Levis. - Panthers trade up to #5 for C.J. Stroud. - Packers acquire #7 from Raiders in Aaron Rodgers trade. - Bucs trade up a few spots to take Anthony Richardson. - Vikings trade up to #20 to take Lukas Van Ness.
  6. Straight up? Yes. Then use #9 to draft the best edge rusher on the board.
  7. Wanted to go more offense-heavy but the value on defense in the 2nd was too good to pass up.
  8. Yeah, I could see him playing either and he gives us that versatility regardless. But he's probably better suited as a 5-tech as his base position. Not a bad problem to have, figuring out where to put a talented player.
  9. We can make it work. Burns and Luvu on the edges with Derrick Brown as a 5-tech. We'd need to find another 5-tech and a nose tackle but that can be done in free agency. Just having Burns play edge in this scheme is going to be worth it, IMO. And don't underestimate Frankie Luvu either.
  10. Mike Gesicki is my #1 target. I think he could blow up in our new offense if we can get a QB. His stats don't tell the whole story in Miami.
  11. Oh, absolutely we'd have won the NFC South; and then lost in the first round of the playoffs to a team with an actual franchise QB. Winning the division is meaningless if we don't have a legit shot at getting to a Super Bowl and winning it. And we're not doing that without a franchise QB. I'm not content with just competing for the division or a wild card spot every year; I want to win fuging Super Bowls and be in that mix every year. The only teams that do that are the ones with franchise QBs. Draft picks are only worth what value you get for them, and what is more valuable than a franchise QB?
  12. What options? Carr? Ryan Tannehill? Jimmy G? That's the team-building equivalent to running a prevent defense with 2:00 left in the 4th quarter when you're up by 2.
  13. Good news. That means Brian Burns might be worth the contract we're about to give him after all.
  14. I still like Bryce Young better overall, but I'd be ecstatic with Stroud as well.
  15. I'd honestly be fine with giving up our 1st rounders in '24 and '25 as part of a deal. Gotta have that QB.
  16. I don't mind the contract or the compensation; he's well worth it if he's healthy. It's the injury history that bothers me.
