With the current read-out, 2026 is around 90,000,000..... that's without the rollover from this season, nor factors in the 9 draft picks(7th round should not count against 51 roster if they use it). Need to factor Icky and his deal. I got to say...... (surprise!!) that's nearly too much! I believe the smoke about Higgins now. I even look at the 2026 free agents and know 3/4 the cream will be tagged or signed. Overall its awful and maybe worse than this past year. Panthers may have 110million in cap space with no one worthy to sign. Sorta understand the over paying for wharton, and safety...... even horn....

Panthers Top 15 Paid Players at Position
Basbear replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
So will Icky....... sucks being Panthers fans with no clear stars, each have *_________. Same deal, LT are near impossible to find and panther may have a young one that they invested years into already. Just like horn, you cannot let him walk and you cannot make him the highest paid LT...... Trade market, late 1st at best cause the team has to pay him 30million per. Panthers suck at drafting and all late 1st yield 2nd round-type players. So........pay him and let us cry and laugh.... Then wait until BY needs a contract.......same deal AGAIN.... -

Panthers Top 15 Paid Players at Position

There is a shocking amount of common sense being displayed in the huddle Honestly and smart view point- the only contract worth is Dbrowns' Horn, look no matter the outcome, it's wrong for the Panthers. You cannot let him walk and you cannot make him the HIGHEST(WTFFFFFF!!) paid CB/DB..... Well Bas- "trade him".... for what???, he's missed half his games and NEVER finished a season.....You know the playoffs are for winners, horn would have missed the last FOUR years by some random chance Panthers were in them. I doubt much more than late 3rd and 5th, would be the offer. You pay and pray..... It's against my religion to pay OGs, RBs, and safety. I disagree with all, bump the CMC threads and I hated it then too. The only path to justifying all these overpays- making the playoffs. If they don't you can point to this. Once you have poor draft years, no one gets paid, then you lose, and then you get "taxed" overpaying free agents. -
Panthers Prospect Visits/Meetings (Final Update-4/22)
Basbear replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is what I heard from a trusted "evaluator". He said Shemars tape is filled up with him beating 1 vs 1. Then he has huge problems getting to the QB. You know the "hoop" drill where the player runs around two hoops and picks up a towel *while remaining low... places the towel back down and runs off. He didn't showcase that and this is his problem, he has no "bend" or ability to turn corners while in a lower posture. Can it be taught, yes. It's an odd deal given his profile, he shouldn't struggle with this, just happens that's the issue. Take it or not. Everyone but Carter and hunter has a major flaw/needs to work. -
Nfl.com showing Bears have Panthers 4 round pic from Cowboys
Basbear replied to Jackson113.2's topic in Carolina Panthers
Its wrong, I know fanspeak and a couple other still list Panthers with 2 7th rounders. They only have one. here's the official report Here's a look at the Panthers' 2025 picks as it stands now: Their own first-rounder (No. 8 overall) Los Angeles Rams' second-rounder (No. 57 overall) Their own third-rounder (No. 74 overall) Their own fourth-rounder (No. 111 overall) Cowboys fourth-rounder (No. 114 overall) New York Giants' fifth-rounder (No. 140 overall) Their own fifth-rounder (No. 146 overall) Ravens' fifth-rounder (No. 163 overall) Cardinals' seventh rounder (No. 230) -
Panthers re-work Adam Thielen’s contract
Basbear replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I've been non-stop posting about Panthers needing a pass catcher, even before FA. It's a huge problem when the most feared player is a 35 year old former UDFA tossed aside by his home team, that's your best receiving option???? No wonder Panthers barely won 5. They need to draft either tmac at 8th, or the best pass catching TE leftd at 57. It's been the top need. I tried that others don't see the issue. You can still "fix"/invest in the defense with the remaining 7-8 picks in a deep defense filled draft. Panthers need starting level TE or WR, not some 4th rounder prayer. Others people need to pray everyday that Coker and XL become legit players. I have doubts and what to stack the odds for the future, this is the year to do it. -
I was going to make a thread about this, but @MHS831 would be one of the only ones to care. What about James Bradberry as FS?? He was playing some of it in Philly, but wanted be remain at CB......truth is he's too slow for that. But his football IQ would allow him to transition to FS. I think it could work... Regarding Demani richardson I seen what you posted and didn't care about it. I thought he could and did play both, evero system is like many the safety are interchangeable. Like the LBs, need some safety insurance. Ill add this since Ive barring my soul in here..... One minor beef I had with Dan&Brandt was they wavied Jammie Robinson and not Nick Scott who only signed for that year and was awful. (not to say Robinson wasn't..). My point is Robinson would still be here on the roster and he's entering his 3rd year. Just dumb to try and sneak Robinson onto the PS when Scott suck and has no future here......rant mode off....

Panthers Prospect Visits/Meetings (Final Update-4/22)
Basbear replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
I've had to adjust or ______ . Im one of those athletic suckers. My issue is now, most of these players are not making to 30 years old. If you look at the this draft and the last couple ones...... you can still blame coofus and the big one NIL. These draft pool are older players. Not the cream, but the mid-late round are around 24 years old. So if you draft one of those "RAS" dudes in the 3rd, it takes 2-2.5 years for him to "get" being a NFL player.... Well in another 1.5-2 he's going to need a contract or in 4 years he's out of the league. So 35% of his career is wasted, that's if he can play. I think drive and determination should be the focus. SM and the current world, I mean some players are making great money as podcasters, thats easier than getting hit by DLman and lifting weights at 5am. -
Panthers re-work Adam Thielen’s contract
Basbear replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
So AT even gets a Panthers tax?!?!? I swear I'd be the cheapest owner, fans would hate me...... I get he's played very well while the team has struggled, but Im also fairly sure the Carolina Panther were the only team to offer him 3yr 25 million.....His old team did not even offer him a contract!! Where's that reward for saving him from retirement or playing on Jets for some 1 year 4 million deal?? He's got a family and the queen is the best NFL environment for that going. Kupp is younger, what about.........ugh, getting nasty.. Now excuse me, Im behind in my scheduled rubbing my hands... -
Panthers agree to 1-year deal with RB Rico Dowdle
Basbear replied to UNCrules2187's topic in Carolina Panthers
Trying to help those 3 folks who hate this move. In 2025 2.75 million is basically the new "vet" minimum. They still need #3 RB and returner, draft could/should be the lane for that. There's no downside to this move, they could cut with little effect and replace with your chosen rookie. -
Thanks to @CarolinaLivin for the Juan-like work!

I think it got murtec. same happen when Dan signed hunt, lewis, and others. I member the cap space was 100million for 2024 in 2023. It was reduced to 25ish, not including shy and horn help. Icky will need 5th year option and Motown will have dead space as well. As others have pointed out the number of Panthers is low around 34(if you include 2025 draft picks) *one big shinning light, the dreaded 50 million per year dead cap should be over then. I think in the end it will be around 35 million if you include icky 5th(I think its around 23 million)

I think Panthers can get or just play hard ball. This is his 2nd str8 tag, not many teams have or want to give millions right now to some #2 WR. They need to pay Chase 40 million per. IDK, I'd still lean on youR favorite movie= tmac at 8th.....

Panthers agree to 1-year deal with RB Rico Dowdle

Dallas OL was butt most of the year, best I remember. Plus they lost Dak early and rush didn't scare no one, so load the box. -
Panthers agree to 1-year deal with RB Rico Dowdle
Basbear replied to UNCrules2187's topic in Carolina Panthers
Plus guys, Im fairly sure this will have no effect on drafting RB, in other words they will be drafting one. Also some tough talk, Panthers need to act like Brooks will ever play again. Nothing can be done about going back in time and not using that 2nd on him. He's here and rehabbing. If he defies the odds against him, bonus to Panthers future. Wrong/unfair stuff happens in ball, trying not to sound heartless...
