I'm fairly certain they stated we would start off slow, but see improvements towards the end of the year. That was after the preseason. Remember @CamWhoaaCam got mad and you were telling him that our staff is saying what you were saying all offseason? As for the offseason quotes, I wouldn't put too much weight into any of that.
-
Right? Yeah we still have a long way to go. We won't be that competitive at the beginning of the season. Imagine a GM saying that during the offseason...

It's always within reach until it isn't. It's a lot tougher to flip a roster in the NFL then they realized I'm sure.

OR maybe he rolled his damn ankle and we don't need him to play through an injury that can get worse because we aren't making a playoff run this year. Sometimes the simplest answer is the right now.

You talking about the Andy Dalton Red Rifle World Tour Opening Act?? I wish I was going!!
-
I'm glad you addressed this. I literally choked on my water for a moment when I read "too early" and "knee jerk reaction" in these replies. Umm check every other topic on this site and that is all you see??!?!

It's why we really need Young to play this game. Defense shouldn't be as tough as the previous two.
-
Honestly our offense should look better having another week under their belt and going against a defense that isn't as good as the previous ones we played. We really need Young to play in this game.

Those shitty WR screen plays to Thielen for negative yards plus rarely attempting a deep pass will do it.
-
At some point we just need to give other WRs a chance. If Mingo and TMJ want to half ass run routes then pull them and put in other WRs. That guy from the Chiefs was running routes and catching passes in the preseason. Give him some plays. I know they are learning the offense too and Mingo needs time, but I would at least give several plays to the guys buried on the depth chart.

Jesus people crying about him not having some elite processing mind. He has been already using audibles and changing plays. Some of the great cerebral QBs struggled early in their rookie years. Hell Rodgers and Mahomes didn’t even play, Manning set the record for picks, and Brees played like 1 game later in the season. Is it frustrating to watch and disappointing as a fan? Absolutely! However saying all the traits he has that scouts love are nonexistent is beyond premature.

The hope is that next year we are competitive and make a playoff push. 2025 should be the year we are one of the top NFC teams. This of course is assuming everything goes as planned.

We are lacking execution because is a group of entirely new players on offense (including a rookie QB) all trying to build chemistry while learning a new offense. We hung around our first two games so hopefully in these next couple weeks it will start coming together and getting some wins. I’m ready to start eating some “Ws” like Jameis!

I think the point some are making is you can’t simply look at position groups in completely different schemes and tell who is upgraded where. I have definitely done this through the offseason. What people like @Mr. Scotare saying (and please correct me if I’m wrong) is bringing in a completely new staff with a completely different scheme on both sides of this ball is not only a huge adjustment but a process than takes more than 1 offseason to fully complete. A rookie QB and every starting skill position player on offense not on the OL are all completely new this offseason. Plus they are all learning a new offense. It’s borderline like an expansion team. Then the defense is switching to a 3-4 which is great for Burns and Brown but the entire rest of the front 7 was made for a 4-3. Plus they as well have to learn a new scheme. Hopefully we will see some huge improvements as players get adjusted and comfortable in these new systems but injuries to Horn, Shaq, BC and others on a team that currently has no depth isn’t helping.

Yeah that was ugly. I’d like to see a look at the whole play because the read he appeared to be looking at was being hugged by a Saints defender. Strip sacks happen to all QBs though, even Cam as we saw in the Super Bowl.
-
I watched him do it in the NFL, it just usually results in a throw away or incompletion so it’s not a memorable highlight.
-
That’s getting overhyped on here. I’ve seen him duck out if many tackles, he simply lost his balance from the DL yanking the back of his jersey and stumbled over himself trying to over correct it. I mean he is clearly no Cam or Allen but he doesn’t have trouble escaping pressure. Plenty of things to critique but that really isn’t one IMO.
-
He is a LB so yeah when you try him at FS it doesn't work very well. Leave him in the box and let him cover some slots and TEs.

Lol my bad. It's been a long day. Yeah Chinn won't get us a 1st. I was getting frustrated with Chinn making plays on Monday then getting pulled the next play.
-
Burns won't get us a first back? Didn't Denver trade Chubb and a 5th to Miami for a 1st, 4th and running back? It was a contract year for Chubb too. I would think Burns would fetch us something similar if not more.
-
Tannehill who is a below average vet QB played much worse against that defense to the tune of 3 INTs completing 47% of his passes....

Per Matt Miller.. Panthers all in on Richardson?
