That's why I am comfortable with us taking Young. I think his awareness and intelligence could possibly overcompensate for his size. It is still something that can't be ignored and that's the conservation out staff is probably having. Can Young adjust his style of play to take less hits, while still being great at extending plays? Can his intelligence overcompensate for his lack of size? The answer very well could be yes.

Pauline believes it's Stroud, but Reich wants AR

It's what they all do. If a player is coming in outside of the norm for anything then it is going to be projected and questioned. I remember them questioning if Cam's style of play can hold up in the NFL with bigger stronger players, or even Lamar's. Neither of which has durability concerns in college. They will use educated projections on every element of the player and game, especially when you are drafting 1 overall. You don't have to agree with it, but it's what they do. Frank Reich already said "of course it's a concern" so it is a concern to our HC who is making the pick. -
There are way too many factors IMO like playing style, types of hits etc. If all things are constant then I would imagine a smaller player/object would be more damaged by impact than a larger one.

It was a clear exaggeration that larger items/people can handle the same impact better than smaller ones all things else being equal. It's just physics. -

Everything is technically "imagined" right now as none of these guys have taken one NFL snap. Part of the evaluation process is projecting how their skills will translate to the NFL. It's no secret his size is conering to some teams. It's why he isn't the clear cut top choice. Also I don't recall Kyler getting many injuries in college if any at all. -

Someone breaking bones has little to do with them having concussions. It's the impact of him being tossed to the ground that is causing him troubles in the NFL. I don't think any of his college injuries have come back. It's concerning, but I will say Young looks much better at taking hits (as weird as that sounds) than many QBs. He simply goes with the momentum and keeps his body limp. It's almost like he trained himself for it which I wouldn't be surprised if he did. He is obsessive in his training with usually translate great in the NFL. -

Tua had totally different injuries in college. I don't think he had any concussions at Alabama? -

I feel like people are arguing against physics... Would you feel safer getting in the same wreck in a SUV or a Miata? -

Yes a QB who is larger than Young, but still considered undersized was brought in to show concerns as stated by McShay. He even mentioned if Young was 6'2" 220 he wouldn't be nearly as concerned. It's one of the reasons Stroud could be considered "safer" by some teams. https://www.palmbeachpost.com/story/sports/nfl/2023/04/05/todd-mcshay-tua-tagovailoas-injuries-affect-how-i-see-bryce-young/70085705007/ McShay: Tua Tagovailoa ‘getting rag-dolled' raises concerns about Bryce Young's durability -

Yeah agreed, but the smaller size one taking hits is more concerning. Does it mean he shouldn't go 1? No. It's is his biggest concern. I don't hear scouts/analysts showing concern about the other QBs being durable in the NFL. -

Yeah he was also playing hurt that day and had to rehab his shoulder afterwards. Now imagine this happening more often with bigger faster players. If someone survives a car crash it doesn't mean that will survive the next one right? -

Someone stated a universal critique about Young. His size is concerning especially after what happened to Tua who is larger than him. So you try to say we should be concerned about another larger QB's size to counter it. That's just nonsense. So if the 6'3" 220 guy is "concerning" what does that make the 5'10" 190 guy? Off draft boards? Someone critiqued your guy and you couldn't handle it. This is what you can't grasp. Most people on here have no problem with Young, but we can't have a normal conversation about his strengths and weaknesses without some off the wall debate. All the QBs in this draft have weaknesses and yes the Tua injury raises eyebrows about Young's size. Todd McShay already said this exact thing. -

6'3" 220 with ability to add weight is nothing crazy for an NFL QB. 5'10" 190 is historically low. If Tua who was considered undersized got tossed (literally) around and injured it is definitely concerning for a shorter, smaller QB. It's very simple... -

You can't critique his boy Young he can't handle it. -

Let's make it easy. Show me where any analyst/scout/coach is concerned with Stroud's size. Our own HC stated there was a concern with Young's. Why do you think that is? -

I think there are several things to consider. Stroud shouldn't have an issue adding weight to his frame and he clearly needs to. The next thing would be playing style. Stroud mimics his game after Brees with quick passes out of the pocket and limits the hits he takes. Tua and Young tend to take extra hits running around extending plays. That's just how I see it and I haven't heard any analysts show concern about Stroud's weight and frame. Stroud's issue is he always had elite talent around him and struggled under pressure most of the season (UGA game aside). Both will need great OLs at the next level. Stroud because he excels in the pocket and Young to limit the hits he takes. The good news is we have a solid young OL already. -

Young has great tape and probably the best of the bunch, but it's far from perfect. Watch him against LSU (who probably has the best DL talent of any team he played last year). Their athletic defensive front gave him issues and that's something he will face every year in the NFL. He also had a great OL and the best RB out of all of the prospects. Stroud had the best WR by a long shot (and probably the best OL) while Young had the best RB. It really is hard to project college QBs in the NFL and I'm glad it isn't my job to do so. -

We are getting downs at 39 anyway. I heard it from Trap. -
I heard they are cutting the party short in honor of Young.
