What Carolina Panthers can learn from Justin Jefferson contract
ForJimmy replied to jayboogieman's topic in Carolina Panthers
Should have traded him for Higgins and 2 1sts. Could have built a solid offense around McCarthy with that kind of capital. -
Stroud was salty panthers didn't draft him

The Bears wanted too much for them to move up one spot. That’s why they were trying to do the three way trade. There is always a limit as to how much teams want or prefer one player. As Ryans said both players were still closely enough ranked so they didn’t think it was worth it to move up. People are just using hindsight to dismiss all the pretty obvious signs already mentioned. Like I said it doesn’t matter or affect us in anyway but they lucked into Stroud a little. -

I really don’t understand why it bothers some that the Texans more than likely had Young over Stroud. There is a lot that points to it like Ryans still not saying who their top QB was after he got Stroud, he just said “we had Young and Stroud ranked high.” You have players celebrating that win that dropped them to 2… I mean if Stroud was QB1 to them they win didn’t matter right? You have a former reporter for Houston saying he thinks they would have picked Young if they had the top pick. Again it’s all for nothing as they lucked out and landed Stroud. If they had a big gap between the two they would have jumped up to secure their guy no matter who they “thought” we were going to draft. Thats too big of a risk to take if Stroud was their guy all along. -
Will the Panthers be better than most are expecting?

Makes sense but the interior OL was by far our weakest link. Bozeman played terrible and the OGs were playing like they didn’t belong in the league. Icky was up and down (normal sophomore slump) and Moton was solid as usual. I’m not as concerned about our tackles as we have BC and the GB guy as backups as well. Two big FA OGs should help but C is the red flag currently. -
He didn’t want to rebuild without Brees. It looks like he is 25-21 without Brees under center. So maybe above average, but not as good as he thinks he is. I’m sure he is better than I’m giving him credit for, but he needs to prove it. He needs to preferable prove it without trying to hurt players on the other team too. I’m just not a fan at all. Nix vs Burrow in college is good. Nix had 4 years of starting experience before his 5th year where he really put up great numbers against bad defenses. Burrow only played one year before his last season where he went undefeated, won the championship, and possibly put up the best college season for a QB and did it against tougher defenses. Burrow’s team definitely had more talent but SEC defenses should edge out PAC 12 by a solid margin.

Looks like he only did during the preseason for the Browns in 2018-2019 claiming it was for a total of 203 snaps which seems high? I think he was penciled in as backup behind Tretter. Center is definitely a big question mark… It looks like we have BC taking some reps at center too, which I’m not sure if he has played it before either? -
I like the black on black, but they need the black helmet to go with it.

Nix was a legacy at Auburn that got to start as a freshman. He played for 3 years and was benched his 3rd. He transferred out west where there is no defense and looked great his 5th year when he was older than most (reminds me of Pickett). Sean Payton is trying to spin it like he tricked teams into passing on him when in reality he was QB6 in this class. I just don’t see him being great at this level, but I’m wrong a lot about QBs. He needed that high powered Oregon offense against PAC 12 defenses to really shine plus his age. He played at Auburn with Derrick Brown. The Brees comp is only there because Sean Payton drafted him. People thought he would make Russ look great too. The truth is Brees made Payton look great and without him he was just an average coach. I’d be lying if I didn’t say my hate for Sean Payton is probably skewing my judgement as well.

Does anyone actually think Bryce will actually be good?

I’m good with more turnovers if it comes with more TDs and pushing the ball downfield. All part of the learning process. -
Does the Canales era have a new vibe?
ForJimmy replied to SmittysLawnGuy's topic in Carolina Panthers
Word is that Vrabel wants a good bit of roster control. That was his issue at Tennessee. He wanted more control than the new GM wanted him to have. -

Sounds like someone who isn’t fully confident in his ability as a HC. If you start winning, you don’t get replaced. He is waiting for a perfect opening like Sean Payton did and that started off rough fit him already. He could have drafted his QB in Washington and built a roster around him pretty quickly IMO. -
And Ryans saying that Young and Stroud were their top two without saying who his top choice was? If it was Stroud and he got Stroud he should have no trouble saying so. It’s just one of the many cases of parroting the voices that back your opinion and disregarding the ones that don’t. We all do it.

So he has no connections now that he is retired? Why would he need to make up stories if he is retired?

McClain reported that Houston would have drafted Young if they got the top pick. So you don’t believe that report, but you believe this one?

Bryce was rated QB1 on more sites than not. It’s ok to acknowledge that. It now looks like Stroud should have been QB1 but that happens a lot. Mahomes went after Mitch. Lamar went in the bottom of the first. Alex Smith went 1st and Rodgers went late first. People may not like we picked Young, but we can’t try to rewrite history again and again.

There are clips of Bryce and ISM working out together. So he wasn’t completely isolated it but wasn’t really advertised because he wasn’t that great of a player last year. I think you are just taking that quote from his interview and running wild with it. He was giving a generic basic answer and didn’t really put much detail in it. I’m not sure if the ISM thing was lumped into morning workouts or he just didn’t mention it…

Yeah Stroud was the OROTY and one of the future faces on the NFL. He was on a lot of shows and events because he gets clicks/viewers and already has a strong fan base. I’d bet he was one of the top jerseys. He even played in the celebrity basketball game. I was just asking about him hosting these workouts with his WRs lol. I’m not sure what I’m getting every response possible but that one? I haven seen AR or Levis doing it either, but people keep mentioning Stroud specifically so I was just curious. We can move on now since I don’t think this is going anywhere…
