  1. I feel like halftime adjustments were an issue for Ron? Maybe I’m remembering it wrong.
  2. Agreed. Part of letting it play it is just sitting back and seeing how Bryce does this year. I do enjoy the offseason and trying to figure out roster building strategies/philosophies though.
  3. I’m not propping him up. I’m saying his offense isn’t Fox ball as they found success through their QB despite their running game being bottom tier. That could never happen in Fox football.
  4. All offenses need a QB to challenge the defense. Bill O’Brien had Bryce doing this at Alabama. It’s why Jamo went in the 1st round. You need great deep threat WRs to make it work. Geno was great at it in Seattle because they had DK and Lockett plucking the ball out of the air deep. That’s just good football. A running game they just respect plus a WR that can track and adjust to deep balls is part of the formula. Too much of this “deep ball thrower” is labeled on the QB vs the WR and scheme. I’ll keep going back to Tua wasn’t a good deep ball thrower until he got deep ball receivers. Also Miami has installed a solid running game to complement this. Canales is trying to build a complete NFL offense and if someone like Bryce can’t operate in it, then we will simply find a QB that can.
  5. I guess you missed the point. His rushing attack was dead last yet his team still performed. That’s not Fox/Rivera ball. His QB also had a career year. Remember the same QB that played for us in the same division and was so bad he was cut? Carroll coached after Lynch as well. In fact Canales was more involved in the more recent offense with Geno Smith and a good rushing attack. People are taking him wanting a rushing attack and assuming that means we are shutting down our passing attack. Again many of the top offenses like SF, Miami, and Detroit featured strong rushing attacks.
  6. Didn’t they win a playoff game? Also Baker was in the same decision the prior year and sucked so bad he was cut…
  7. How did an offense that is just a continuation of Fox/Rivera football make the playoffs with a bottom of the league rushing attack and feature a QB having a career year? I’m not saying it’s going to be great but it seems different than Fox/Rivera and maybe more Seattle IMO.
  8. Deep ball passes are typically more of a WR stat. It’s why Tua’s deep ball game looked terrible before Hill/Waddle and much better when they arrived. The WRs make the adjustments and make the catches. Even Burrow mentioned “Chase is down the field somewhere. All I need to do is air it out.” If an arm is capable of getting the ball down the field the rest of the formula is timing and WR adjustments. The arm strength issue would fall more into zipping passes into tight places or making throws while avoiding pressure when your feet aren’t set IMO.
  9. The mid-level ones have been nice. Chiefs moved up for Mahomes and the Bills did for Allen. Build a strong roster and only use one future first to move and get a high ceiling QB was the formula in both cases. The Niners tried to replicate but overpaid and honestly didn’t really give Lance a chance once Purdy started winning.
  10. Niners are the only recent team to trade up a haul and still survive after the pick didn't work out. It's also just not very common so it's not a real good sample size...
  11. Normally that would make sense, but I think defenses played him like a rookie all year and dared him to throw. Press up on our WRs who can't separate and send pressure right up the middle. The Falcons week 1 let their safety free play in the box and just read Bryce. Do you recall any early games where the defenses were playing for the deep pass? I honestly don't...
  12. I mean his OC’s wife publicly said he was already shutting it down…
  13. I'm not sure our defense is any worse this year. If we land a solid CB2 like Gilly still I'd argue it was better than last year's (on paper of course) which was average? Evero got several of his former players in Robinson, Jewell (replaces Luvu), and Fuller plus Shaq is back and Clowny will replace Burns. Wonnum is an upgrade over YGM.
  14. Brees was technically a 2nd round pick. Super high 2nd rounder though....
  15. He seems streaky but yeah I'd love him as a QB. Jax hasn't done a great job building around him honestly...
  16. As of right now IMO... Raiders, Bears (rookie QB), Commanders (rookie QB), Broncos (rookie QB), Giants (Europe game), and Cardinals seem winnable. Throw in some division wins (Canales hopefully splits with Bucs, and I could see us splitting with the Falcons OR Saints if we make the right improvements... To me that's 8 wins if everything goes our way (Bryce progresses, Evero's defense is playing great, running game is working, XL or Mingo turn into real threats, Johnson plays as good as he did in Pitt, etc...) Realistically I'm thinking 6 wins and I think that could be a successful season with a new coach inheriting a 2-15 team. 6-11 with our offense looking better and playing competitive football and I'll be happy.
  17. Goff is on his 2nd team though. Kyler has been up and down in Arizona. Some people were upset he got his contract. Baker is on his 4th team? Jameis is a backup on another team, Stafford is on his 2nd team. Luck retired because his was constantly getting hurt behind that terrible OL.
  18. Seriously! I love the "I'm afraid he will keep us mediocre" people. We haven't been mediocre in a minute so for now that will be a welcomes change. Once we are there we can look at improving where we need to even at QB.
  19. That's it. If he starts winning most fans will get behind him. If he can't, well then we try to find someone who can.
  20. Probably somewhere between perfect and last season's poo show. He does need something to work with like a majority of QBs do. If he can make it work from there is really anyone's guess.
