Aside from the random poster trolling on here, it’s safe to say we have something special in Burns. Our team has invested a lot in this defensive line and I have a feeling it’s about to start paying off. YGM, Burns, and Brown are the young guys loaded with talent and we added Jones and Reddick for some talented veteran leadership. When they start gelling we really have the potential to be one of the top units this year.

People need to be more patient after one year of a rebuild. Our roster was gutted and we had a first year coach with a bunch of rookies. 5-11 was a solid record all things considered. I mean 7 teams (over a fifth of the league) had a worse year…

25.1 points allowed and 360 yards out us right in the middle of the league. With our talent, that would be overachieving in my books.

I mean we had a 5th round rookie in Roy playing significant minutes with YGM, and Brown both being rookies (I know they were higher picks, but there is still a learning curve). If the RB gets past the line there were Whitehead and a another rookie in Chinn on the next level. I honestly think he had no other option than to play it soft and let the young players develop.

I get what you are saying, but he had no other option than to try to keep everything in front of our young guys and hope for a turnover or missed play by the other team. At one time we had SO3, Franklin, Pride, Roy, YGM, Brown, and Chinn all on the field as rookies plus Whitehead in the middle and Boston whiffing on tackles. When DJax was hurt that defense had no business stopping an NFL offense from a talent standpoint.

Brown should play better with Jones beside him and Reddick/Burns rushing the QB. Chinn definitely makes the most sense with a new position and less opportunities to clean up shitty tackles from Whitehead. A better secondary getting pass breakups will also take away opportunities for tackles.

Our line without Moton is scary bad… Pay the man his money and let’s keep improving the trenches. Few teams regret paying young proven linemen.

I don’t see Nixon or Taylor stealing a starting job, but will be very happy with any sort of solid contribution from them. DaQuan Jones and and Brown are going to make for a great starting DT pair!

Teddy was a bad contract. Luke retiring is was it is. I think we are heading in the right direction as far as the cap goes. Next year should look much better.
