  1. Next year’s first is crucial. It allows us to move up and take a QB in the 22 draft if Darnold doesn’t work out. If he does then we get to load up with more talent for the man!
  2. You see LT potential in Erving? I don’t know much other than he graded poorly on PFF, just curious...
  3. Rhule took a 5-11 team gutted it and kept a young team at 5-11. Cam, Luke, Olsen, and Addison were all departed and CMC played like 2 games. From the outside looking at the records it looks pretty bland, but they did a great job given the circumstances. Not to mention first year head coach with limited offseason through COVID. They also hung around teams like GB and KC they had no business competing with.
  4. I wouldn’t mind Mills or Newman, but it would need to be 5th round or later (don’t see Mills lasting that long).
  5. Yeah I got you pretty good on the head. Might have given you some memory loss...
  6. You just earned a VIP ticket to the Fields bus! (And yes I’m driving)
  7. “Smokescreens aren’t as common as people think” You have literally taken quotes from the same conference stating they are confident in him. A quote comes up that doesn’t fit your narrative.... must be bluffing for draft season. Sorry but you can’t have it both ways.
  8. https://www.panthers.com/news/scott-fitterer-adding-sam-darnold-gives-panthers-options People seem to ignore this. Fitterer states this doesn’t take them out of getting a QB. He also states it allows them to take the BPA or make moves. They didn’t want to go into the draft with any needs...
  9. And Brees has us taking Fields per Tepper. Another exchange of opinions. If Darnold had a cloud over his head over Teddy he isn’t going to cut it as a starter in this league...
  10. Darnold = insurance and doesn’t make us trade away too many picks for a QB or settle on whoever makes it to 8. He allows us to take the BPA. They are comfortable with him at QB this year. If someone they like happens to fall to 8 it will be interesting. If it’s one they really like we will either get a nice haul in a trade down or have a QB competition in camp.
  11. Yeah the Chargers should have passed on Herbert with all the Oregon busts (Marietta, Harrington) and the Bengals on Burrow with the LSU busts (Russell and Flynn). Texas Tech QBs were just system QBs until Mahomes...
  12. If the price is right, I’d be ok with this. Gives us ammo to grab one next year if needed.
  13. If you get it wrong you are set back like any first round pick. Sewell could end up like Matt Kalil, there is always a risk. However, if you don’t have a QB your team wont be doing too much anyway. You got to have one to stay relevant in the playoffs.
  14. Agreed. Some positions are worth this risk and QB could be one of them. Hell the Niners are dropping 3 first round picks on a guy they believe is the answer.
  15. If you pass on one you believe is the guy at 8 and gave a decent roster, it’s going to cost a lot more than one first to get your guy next year.
  16. It’s all part of our plan so they don’t jump us for you know who.
  17. https://www.google.com/amp/s/usatodayhss.com/2017/cam-newton-justin-fields-is-the-best-recruit-in-the-country/amp He was Cam Newton approved right out of high school!
  18. I may already have been offered the job! Jump on in there is plenty of room, just save a seat for Mr Scot...
  19. Yeah no one (including yourself) knows how the staff views Darnold. They think high enough of him to offer a 4th, 6th, and future 2nd. They think higher of Watson and Stafford than him (they were willing to give up more capital and tried this route first). So all we can assumed is he is valued less than Watson and Stafford and at least a future second (equals a third) and a couple late picks. The story you posted stated we were hesitant about giving a future 2nd so that was probably the peak value. We also know they won’t immediately pick up his 5th year option. Call it draft games or not, it won’t get addressed until after the draft. These are all just assumptions made from data we have been given. It can definitely be argued either way, which is why it’s such a polarizing topic.
