  1. No one has said Burns is below replacement level or mediocre, insinuating that he's a run of the mill player - these comments are ridiculous. What has been said is that what he does and doesn't bring to the table is worth risking for a haul of draft picks that can yield even more overall talent alongside avoidance of a massive salary that could provide for even more talent, particularly since the Rams are likely to be mediocre or worse in coming years. The hyperbole and nonsensical judgments are silly.
  2. Exactly, and while Burns is good he's not an irreplaceable game-changer. The last time this discussion came up at the DE position, I daresay plenty of people were angry about the Charles Johnson contract, and while he wasn't the supreme athlete Burns is he was a more complete player who could dominate against the run as well as rush the passer. Burns has yet to match Johnson's 11.5 sacks in 2010 on a defense that didn't play with many leads...
  3. They were 3-6 with Stafford and Kupp before their respective injuries, Stafford may be getting dragged down by father time, their OL sucks, and they hand out draft picks like Halloween candy. Nothing is assured of course but odds look good that they won't immediately ascend back to the top tier of the league, if that.
  4. Discussing Burns' glaring weaknesses and feeling they shouldn't pat astronomical sums because of them is not 'hating', and Brown was (deservedly) criticized very heavily in the past before improving big time this year. Unlike Burns, however, no one offered two 1st rounders for Brown only to have the team decline. Quality play + no trade controversy = less discussion. Reasonable. 'Hate' and 'hating' are very mis/overused terms and just cliche at this point.
  5. Doesn't seem like a stretch to assume that dropping 9 figures and getting nothing but a headache and PR mess is not ideal.
  6. So if you remove the parts where defenses have likely already sucked, the defenses sucks less. Alrighty.
  7. I have no expectation of the team winning it all but at this point, why not take the weak NFCS title by force and keep building that new NFL-level attitude?
  8. Among other things a Lathon jersey from 96, Sam Mills jersey from 97, a couple of Kerry Collins rookie jerseys, and a #95 jersey that just says 'Panthers' on the nameplate that I assume may have been produced before they had a set roster.
  9. So refreshing after years of Rhule's blathering on.
  10. I mean, not really. Maybe Carolina falls into a playoff spot by way of the atrocious NFC South but it's a given they'll get killed by actual competent teams. I guess that's a positive/meaningful to some folks. I'm not a tanker. Just putting it out there.
  11. Since then the Broncos have scored 2 Wilson to Jeudy TDs and it's 27-14 at the half.
  12. Yeah, and it's not like Carolina has had many big moments to effect these past years. I can see it both ways. We were spoiled by having a decade of Julius Peppers.
  13. Burns gets some stats but I don't feel like he's a game-changer. I'm admittedly not glued to the TV this year though so perhaps that has changed this year. I understand keeping him but given his limitations in the run game I would have leaned towards taking the Rams offer.
  14. My son and I did a franchise on 22 and started another one on 23. Seems more or less that same to me, but the in-game player movent has been tweaked and feels a little better IMO.
  15. The whole 'explosive play' thing is, IMO, not an indicator of much of anything. Kind of like the 20-yard threshold of 'deep pass' missing the point, which is typically to try to measure how often an offense can cause drastic change in field position or on the scoreboard. Neither a 10-yard run or 20-yard pass achieves that. IMO yhe best example of this is the Saints after about 2011 or so. Sure, they won games and put up pretty stats, but when it came to the playoffs and competing against the best teams they were unable to really take advantage downfield and got shut down. Doesn't mean QBs have to be long bombers all the time, but 10 and 20 yard plays in a vacuum aren't that impressive.
  16. And then made a solid throw on 3rd down.
  17. I bought a Cam SB50 jersey for my 10 yr old son that loves jerseys and it fits him perfectly... thing was like $2 here at a KC Goodwill and was in perfect condition. Dang nice jersey.
  18. By 'cap' I assume you mean 'crap' and no, no it's not. You're exposing a lack of knowledge here. For example, the Patriots: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/sports/wp/2017/09/07/the-patriots-specialize-in-stopping-no-1-receivers-but-can-they-contain-tyreek-hill/ Or from Matt Bowen, former NFL safety: https://www.espn.com/nfl/insider/story/_/id/17612045/creative-ways-double-team-nfl-top-wide-receivers
  19. You realize that teams often scheme so their best cover man is 1:1 with a second reciever so that they can roll the rest of the coverage toward the #1 receiver, right?
  20. I don't think pocking Teddy as the least-worst QB since 2017 Cam is the same as 'love'. I can't stand the guy as a player but while he is a milquetoast AB, the team generally did not look as utterly terrible with him as with others. They still sucked, just maybe not as much.
  21. Lost to the Jaguars in the final drive after some braindead coaching decisions... not a very good team right now.
