  1. This right here. Might as well pick it up, even if Bryce isn't the long term QB. We aren't paying Daniel Jones the crazy contract he will earn after this year and the rest of the QBs just aren't very good. Sadly, this draft class of QBs has looked really bad in college this year and I am struggling to find one worth drafting high. Maybe Nussmeier because he has all the arm strength/accuracy qualities you want in an NFL QB (worried about how awful he is at staring down his 1st read and not being able to read coverages, but that can theoretically be fixed). Haven't looked into the 2027 QB draft class, but maybe signing Mariota to be backup for a year (or 2) behind Bryce wouldn't be the worst. I have watched a bit of Mariota this year and don't think he looked that bad against the Cowboys & Chiefs.
  2. This whole 3-4 vs 4-3 debate is pretty tiresome and useless. Most teams are running nickel (or some nickel variant) over half of their defensive snaps because of the amount of offenses that are running spread offenses with 3 wide receivers (and a lot of teams are incorporating more RPO plays). Now, the real question is when offenses start shifting back to a more power run type of style, do teams start changing course and running less nickel...
  3. I'd rather not have Burns and draft good edge rushers. He wasn't worth the contract he got for a dude that could only rush the passer and frankly did a terrible job of it for us because whenever he did beat his blocker, he would whiff on the QB. Congrats to him for actually being able to wrap up the QB this year - it's the first time he has consistently been able to do it. The amount of teams that ran right at him while he was with us shows that teams realized he was an undersized edge and could get pushed backwards several yards on run plays. Having Dexter Lawrence next to you helps mask that problem
  4. The fact that Hendon Hooker is on our roster tells you the sad state of affairs of our QB room. Dude isn't good enough to make a CFL roster, yet somehow he was our backup QB last Sunday...
  5. Sounds like we need to amputate a leg from Dalton and a thumb from Bryce and do a quick transplant to fix them both....
  6. Gotta be honest - if Bryce was truly a "full participant" today and moving around a lot at practice , the dude must have other worldly healing. High ankle sprains can be a bitch and even the lowest grade kind of them aren't fun to move around on
  7. Yeah, they are building another pile of trash on top of their previous piles of trash from Fat Fhule, Fitterer, etc.
  8. The Pats were probably asking "Hey, we will give you a 7th rounder for Chuba if you pay his entire salary"
  9. Lol, nobody is trading for Chuba... Who would want that RB contract
  10. Hope Bryce starts practicing rolling out to the left every play in practice for this Sunday...
  11. It's not like we want Chuba outright benched. Hell, we can call him the "starter" and give him the first carry of the game. That being said, you are setting a bad example in the locker room when good play isn't rewarded. Everyone in Carolina (fans, coaches, players) knows that Rico has the hot hand and you need to feed him the rock. There is no reason for Rico to be on the field 1/4 of the snaps when he is running it for like 6 yards a carry this year
  12. Sounds like the pressure of all the fans wanting him fired might finally be getting to him... That, or Rico said "trade me now if you aren't going to make me the lead back"
  13. Let's start with a game where our offense doesn't turn the ball over 2+ times in the first half.... Everybody sucked last week outside of Tet and maybe Sam Martin....
  14. This was definitely Evero's worst game to date with playcalling (up there with JAX refusing to cover the seams when JAX kept running the same pass play). Let's also recognize that nobody in the front 7 won a one-on-one block that game. I think teams will start realizing running away from DB and running toss plays to make our LBs quickly make the correct read is a good way to run on us
  15. We can only hope his grave has been dug and the moron is fired at the end of the season
  16. Really? I thought that toss play was the staple of Joe Brady's offense? Or at least it sure as hell was for us
  17. Can't believe Nick Scott didn't have the lowest PFF grade for us. Guy was somehow way worse than his typical awful self. Also don't understand how Cherelus got that high of a score when he was directly responsible for the TD Buffalo scored after Wallace got injured... Didn't watch much of Curhan once BC got hurt. Even if it was against backups, seems like that was a pretty good PFF score. Like usual, left side of the oline continues to be elite; say a prayer next week for the right side of the oline vs. the Packers pass rush...
  18. Coker pretty much replaced him once we activated him. And we want Horn on the field so we can throw that one swing pass/run play to him like 5 times a game and hope it works once
  19. Yeah, each passing week I am realizing that the games we have won are in spite of Canales, not because of him. I think more than Bryce, we need to move on from Canales. Dude just flat out is a bad coach
  20. The only prediction really needs to be... Do we lose by more than the 31 we lost by to Buffalo last week? If GB watches any tape, all they need to watch is the Buffalo game and run toss plays and screens on offense all game long... Never thought we would win the Buffalo or GB game, and last week made me 100% confident of that. Love has really good passing stats when he doesn't face pressure, so knowing our terrible pass rush, I say we lose 41 to 13.
  21. The weird thing is I think Dalton looked at his best Sunday when we let him throw the ball in the intermediate range (10-15 yards). Yet, we pretty much only wanted him running that swing pass to Horn or screen passes most of the 1st half, which Buffalo picked up on after like 3 pass plays. Don't get me wrong - Dalton was complete ass. But much like Bryce, the play calling hurt him more than it helped.
  22. 5 yards a carry is great IMO opinion because we are talking an average of 2nd and 5, which means the defense can't sit solely on the pass or run. I understand 5 is an average and not all carries are going to be that, but he definitely had better runs than Chuba. When we have Chuba running the ball for 1 or 2 yards and getting stuck in 2nd and 8 or 3rd and 6, we have to pass - which as we saw was the nail in the coffin for us with Dalton back there. The only 2 drives in the game where we had a legit chance of scoring (before garbage time) was the drive we scored a FG on and the drive Andy took the inexcusable sack on to cost us points. No coincidence that the RB on the field those drives was Rico (who pretty much picked up 5+ yards every carry outside of that goofy direct snap play). It really needs to be a 2-to-1 ratio of snaps in favor of Rico going forward (unless Chuba gets better). I don't care if we are paying Chuba more. Other teams have had no problem benching the guy being paid more if the other player is doing better - just look at the Falcons and them starting Penix over Cousins like 6 games into his rookie season.
  23. As good as Allen is, I don't think he played particularly well yesterday. At some point after Cook gets his 10th carry of 10+ yards in the game, I would probably worry more about that... Truly an awful job by our team setting the edge and breaking free from blocks that game. Hoping that it was an outlier game for them, because they have otherwise been good with their run D and staying in their gap (outside of maybe the JAX game)
  24. Buffalo sure seemed to have no problem being successful running the same toss play against us... And Rico had no problem picking up at least 5 yards each carry, even against a stacked box
