  1. Above average on 8 of 12 boxes and way above on 5 of 12. Seems like a major upgrade to me
  2. To a degree, but things that a coach says to football players are not in the same world. Many things that get said on the football field would never be allowed in a normal managerial role.
  3. Totally agree in management which I’ve been in my entire life. Comparing that to things that get said on a football field is not the same at all though. Comparing apples to train wrecks.
  4. Newton having a job is the same as Mick Mixon having a lead role. It cannot be explained with reason.
  5. He literally just said hey I don’t want to comment on QB speculation. That’s not my job and I’m trying to be the best RB that I can be. He said nothing negative, and didn’t want to play into the QB speculation convo that they were trying to stir up. Typical professional Football player answer
  6. Just watched it and he literally said nothing about Teddy. Click bait Newton at it again
  7. Hard to tell without seeing the clip. David Newton is know say thinks for click bait. With that being said...we all know about a Teddy...he’s not the future/ taking us to the promise land and the players know that also.
  8. He would have been a very good pickup and I don’t mind giving away the #8 pick for 5 years of top QB play. We got 5 years out of Cam and he transformed the franchise. Teams fail on top 10 picks all the time and Stafford is a proven top tier QB.
  9. What’s the problem?? He supports his brother and is a big Panther fan. He said it was a dream come true when we drafted Burns. Give me a break he’s just giving his opinion on a hypothetical trade.
  10. Shaq is a very good young player. He’s not quite worth the contract we gave him, but being that we would take the hit on some of that it would be a good player to pickup in a trade. They do not have to be all pro players but Shaq and Jackson would be two good assets to a team along with the draft picks
  11. I meant the two 2nd round picks are equal to another 1st round pick (making it the value of three 1st round picks that they have been talking about this entire time)
  12. Not really losing much with Jackson and with Shaq it would be a wash because although he is very solid (and underrated by many on this board) getting rid of that contract will help us tremendously in the long run and I believe replacing him would be much easier.
  13. I’d give that up in a heartbeat. 2 2nd round picks are equal to three 1st. Some are willing to trade next years 1st for a trade up in the draft to #3 so I wouldn’t blink at 2 1st round picks and 2 second round picks for a 25 year old top 5 QB. This years 1st/2nd and next years 1st/2nd along with Jackson and Shaq.
  14. Agreed. If we draft a QB I have no issue starting Teddy. Idk if he last all season, but we had an average line last year with who we had so you never know how the O line will perform until mid season
  15. They key is how you are building your roster (if you are competing to make it to the super bowl, retooling, or rebuilding) and how you draft. The Panthers could never survive in the past going the route that the Rams have because we only seem to hit on first round draft picks. At this point I feel that we are going to be aggressive to trade up in the draft to get our QB and fans should not freak out to your point. We are ONE YEAR away from plugging the major holes but after that, we have a ton on young talent that can compete for years to come, along with being in great cap shape and we would have a franchise QB on a rookie wage. With a year of experience in the NFL (most likely sitting behind Teddy for a little bit, I don’t see him starting all year). This is the best case scenario to me.
  16. I never said anything about Watson, I’ve been saying since the begging I see no way that happens. I was saying no way Teddy is in our short term/long term plans. I Hope we draft a QB, as it’s the best way to bruins for the future being that we are one year away from competing. If we draft a QB Teddy may start the season, but I see no way that he finishes the season as the starter. We are kind of handcuffed by his contract but it is painfully obvious that the team plans on moving on as soon as possible
  17. Teddy knows it’s a business. My best bet is that we draft a QB and let them compete in the offseason. Teddy will likely win, and give the rookie time to develop. That may be for a few games or the season, but he will play nice and put forth his best effort so that he can try to get a starting position on another team. Last offseason we were one of the only teams where could walk into a starting role, so he knows about competition and I don’t see him being a locker room distraction or trying to force a trade/release. at the end of the day he will still be getting paid starter money which goes a Long way to his happiness when he’s not every guaranteed to start again on another team.
  18. Would you have been okay with giving up #8 for Stafford? We did match what they gave up really being that #8 is close to the same capital as two future late 1st round draft picks. I also like us being aggressive trying to upgrade at QB and I believe we will now be aggressive in the draft to get our guy.
  19. That’s kind of my point, if you believe we could be 8-8 with Teddy, I believe we could be a playoff contending team with Stafford. You are normally successful if you get 4-5 good years of play out of a first round pick and Stafford would have given us that at the most important position in the game. He instantly gives us a few more wins than Teddy (how many could he have won during the 0-8 streak we had with close scoring games in the 4th quarter last year?) and has proven to be clutch and someone who can lead to win from behind. I don’t think any NFL insider in the league would say Teddy is close to the QB that Stafford is, and with him we could be competitive for at least 4-5 seasons without crippling our team long term. It’s done now and I’m not upset about not landing him, but it would have been a major upgrade for us in a position that we have to upgrade if we ever plan on making it to and competing in the playoffs.
  20. Idk if Teddy with his salary would be appealing as a backup on a team who admitted that they are rebuilding. I agree though that they likely offered the #8 pick and another which seems to be very competitive with what the Rams offered being that they will likely have picks in the lower part of the first round which should be comparable to #8 overall.
  21. I think it would have been a good move, even giving away the #8 pick. Many teams strike out in first round picks and if you get 4-5 good years out of a 1st round pick it’s normally considered a success. I have no doubt Stafford would have given us 4-5 years of very good play and it’s the most important positions in football. with that being said, we are a team who minimum, needs one more season to fill our holes in order to compete for division titles. We must re build all positions on our O line, get. DT. LB (maybe 2), and CB (maybe 2). Even with all that we have to find a QB. With the way our team is set up currently, it seems very logical to get a rookie QB to develop for a year then start the following year when we have the proper pieces to compete, and by then we will be in good shape overall in team cap spending
