  1. No big loss. Outside of Tommy Tremble our TEs weren’t much to brag about, although it may have more to do with our previous offensive philosophy. Hoping the new offensive staff will design a better system to maximize their talents.
  2. You read my mind. What indeed? Our TE’s outside of rookie Tremble we’re nothing to write home about.
  3. Agreed. The only hire I’m questioning is Pasqualoni. A wealth of experience but I’d have preferred someone with a better track record with the DL. Joe Cullen would’ve been great but he took the KC job and I’m not sure we were even interested. Read up on the Joe Bailey hire and it seems to be a good one despite the lack of NFL experience. He’s generally considered to be very a bright and hard working coach with ties to McAdoo.
  4. This We have too many “streaky” shooters on this roster.
  5. Same here. JR set him up to fail when he refused to hire a GM after Polian left. I’m not sure we had the best scouting back then either.
  6. I guess this means Fletcher is hitting the bricks…what a waste of a pick!!!
  7. I agree. Great players don’t necessarily make good coaches.
  8. I was thinking the same thing. Our ex-defensive back coach (Jason Simmons) also carried the same title of defensive passing game coordinator IIRC. He was Snow’s right hand man so bringing Wilks aboard may be an effort to find a similarly experienced replacement. With Snow being up in age, it may benefit us to have someone to step in if the need arises.
  9. Would somewhat explain why he kept him around. I’m not sure why Tepper would’ve agreed to that and it could hurt the Panthers in the long run.
  10. LOL I was surprised when they fired Okam. Thought he had potential and could’ve benefited from someone like Pasqualoni as an assistant - someone with a wealth of experience to complement him and help him grow as a coach. I guess they tried that with Don Johnson but it didn’t work out. Now they’ve got two grizzled veterans to coach the young uns. Hope it works out.
  11. I think Marinelli was being considered for the Bears DC position but appears he’s still with the Raiders. Not sure he was ever under consideration here. Pasqualoni’s got a ton of experience. Hope he works out for us.
  12. Yup….we could use a complete overhaul on that side of the ball. Hope we can clear out cronyism with the Temple and Baylor connections, though I suspect this has more to do with the potentially shaky situation with Matt Rhule’s tenure.
  13. That was unexpected. I’ve read that McAdoo is being allowed to rebuild the offense, so it’s possible this is indication of other changes to come.
  14. Fitterer and Morgan came aboard AFTER Rhule was hired. This falls more on Tepper for keeping Hurney around a year longer than he should although I understand the rationale. I’m of the thinking that Rhule having the final say does not mean he has total autonomy over the roster with no collaboration. As P-Claw stated earlier, the HC’s control over the roster is not unique to the Panthers, so there’s really no need for panic IMO.
  15. Looks like the bench scorers finally woke up. Hornets by 3!!!
  16. Hornets look like they’re running out of gas offensively. Getting nothing from the bench tonight either.
  17. I was just thinking the same thing. I’m not sure why they do this. Seems it puts us behind the eight ball getting the best fit rather than picking over the leftovers. We run the risk of putting another inexperienced assistant at a crucial position for our defense IMO.
  18. Yup. I blamed Fox for not hiring a defensive guy with more experience. Trgovac was in over his head as DC. Rivera did the same thing promoting Eric Washington - good DL coach but overwhelmed as a DC. I hope Rhule will bring in someone with experience to coach the DL as he’s done with these other hires.
  19. Agreed. My last image of him was looking clueless during the 2008 home playoff when the Cardinals and specially Larry Fitzgerald lit up our defense. That game still pisses me off. Maybe we should find someone else.
  20. That’s remarkable. Not only a good coach but sounds like a great human being. We’re blessed to have gotten him.
  21. Great hire. This snippet from the write-up is what I’m most looking forward to: The 57-year-old Campen was most recently with the Texans in the same job. He spent 15 years with the Packers coaching offensive linemen (from 2004-2018), giving him background with new Panthers offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo. During that time, the Packers had seven Pro Bowl linemen, and had a habit of turning mid- to late-round picks into consistent performers. It always frustrated me how badly our OL played in comparison to other teams. Looking at the top teams, you could count the number of Pro-Bowl-caliber OL on one hand. See the Washington game last year. Cincy’s OL isn’t great either. But they’re getting the job done, which tells us coaching was a big problem here. Here’s hoping our new OL can bring the best out of whoever we line up next season.
