Yup, and it's largely not the backups with the hammy issues, but the starters who were held out most or all of preseason.
-
I used to go to Panthers camp every year until recently and yes, some dudes don't take stretching seriously. Maybe it was just at camp. While stretching doesn't prevent hammy injuries, it sure does lessen the risk of one. If coaches are letting these guys go into week 1 without going full speed at least some reps during camp or preseason, that's on the coaches.

Injuries happen all season, but to my recollection, I can't remember this many hammy injuries even for week 1.
-
Yes, Ridder did look timid, but in that timidness took what we gave him. Don't get me wrong, I think Ridder sucks, but the dink and dunk game can be effective even in it's boring simplicity.
-
On a side note, what is with all the hammy issues around the Leauge? Do the trainers not really enforce pregame/pre-practice stretching anymore? Sure they go through the motions, but are they really stretching. I remember my track coach busting our balls for not stretching properly, especially the sprinters. He knew they were the most likely to pull a hammy and watched them close during warm ups to ensure they actually stretched properly.

The Falcons had no problem with the dink and dunk passing attack. I think Ridder only had one completion over 20 yards himself, the one to Pitts.

Not having a first rounder is going to hurt especially with the crop of WRs coming out, but we are hardly pick poor. I'm looking at FA for WR because in year two of this evolution of the Panthers, we can ill afford having a guy whose not an immediate WR1 as a rookie. Plus, our track record of 2nd round WRs is very suspect. Moose, I think, is the most accomplished and that going WAAAAY back and there's not a close *pun* second. That second round pick would be great value for a RB, DL, CB, edge or TE. For the sake of our sanity and Bryce Young, we need a FA stud at WR.

The first INT, yes, Bates jumped the route. The second one was thrown pretty much right to him.

It's all good, but I don't do the continuous back and forth posts anymore like I would have in the past. I think we understand where each other was coming from now, so it's moot to further it. Have a great Monday sir!

One big run (HUGE hole) one good run and the rest, meh. I'm not sure one superbly blocked play is enough to say dude is all of a sudden a legit RB.
-
You win dude, go buy a latte in celebration. I was comparing RBs and removing Waston's stats to prove a point among RBs. Not a single person in their right mind--as you say-- would suggest QBs rushing stats are somehow trivial or don't count, but when comparing position groups I'm pretty sure QBs and RBs are different. Pat on the back bro, I'm done.
-
Does Reich even use a FB? I saw a fullhouse set once yesterday, but the hand off went to one of the RBs. I know Ricci is the token FB, but dude is NOT a real FB. Ben Mason on the the Raven's PS could fill the same role as a TE/FB, but is a true FB that can play TE.
-
I wanted to draft him and I wanted him in FA before the Falcons snagged him. When they did, I said to myself, 'Sh*t, they got a dude that's going to be a thorn in our side.' Don't blame me.

Com'on Mr. Scott, of course for depth and as a compliment/injury insurance. We are injury away from the Ian Thomas/Tommy Tremble show. Hurst has not been the most durable guy throughout his career. We need a bulldozer RB too, even if it's just a handful of snaps a game.
-
Yes, but Henderson showed he wasn't very good at all. At least with Darnold the risk/reward was much more in line with what we gave up in the deal. Had he panned out, that trade package would have looked like a steal. As it turns out, we lost a second rounder and a couple day 3 picks.
-
Splitting hairs here, yes QB runs count, but effectiveness of a rushing attack generally doesn't hinge on your QB. Chubb>>>>>>>>>>>>>Sanders/Hubbard
-
Posted in another thread, but RB and TE are a need. I wish a WR, but the pickings are EXTREMELY slim.
-
Take out Watson's carries and yes, about half. He was the force. True bell cow RBs are a thing of the past. Even solid RB 1's yield significant time to back ups for--what the NBA likes to say "load management."
-
Like the Browns did with Nick Chubb.
-
I think we cut Blackshear and put him on the PS (assuming he clears waivers; 99.9% sure he will) and give a veteran a shot given he's healthy and can pass a physical. Fournette, Ingram and Bernard would be instant upgrades as inside the tackle runners. There's more to the list, I just look a snippet. At this point, and given the how the RB market sucks, we could get veteran help CHEAP.
-
Neither guys are true 'up the gut' type of runners. Supposedly Chuba put on weight this offseason to help pound the rock between the tackles. However, lacking weight was/is not his issue. He lacks vision and decisiveness, both are key to be an effective runner in the trenches.
-
True, but I thought fans wanted to get rid of Fox/Rivera "old school" football? I'm down with whatever wins us games, new school or old school, it doesn't matter to me.
-
This is EXACTLY why you don't break the bank for a single player. Burns.
-
Chuba got the better holes from the OL, that's for certain. Luck of the draw, I guess. Heck, his 21 yard run a compact SUV could have driven though that lane. Sanders got the bulk of the first down runs which are always a rough go. The defense is banking on first down runs.

What magic can we pull to find a receiver?

TMJ had two catches on SIX targets. That sucks!
