Mike Kaye: Panthers going after starting C
HardcoreHokie replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Frank Beamer definitely preached that bigtime in the 90’s so your timeline lines up. The game has changed a lot since then and WR and EDGE are much more premium (and expensive) positions now…. but a SMART/PHYSICAL/VOCAL Center is still hugely important. You’re legitimately drafting a Center in rounds 2-3 to be a 10 year starter and foundational piece. -
Mike Kaye: Panthers going after starting C

Lots of former pros and coaches preach this. Positions closest to the ball are the most difficult/complicated to coach and play. Ask any of his QB’s how important Jason Kelce was. -
Not to continue to dwell, but how the hell did we not get at least a *future* first for CMC, lol? Firsts are gold, 2/3/4 is not (especially for us).

Nicole Tepper on the proudest moment since owning the team….
HardcoreHokie replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Her proudest moment was marrying the 92nd richest person in the world. I’d be proud of that too, but she doesn’t need to be the face of the franchise. Hire someone to do the PR. -
I find it more than interesting that Mrs. Tepper is doing these public interviews where she is now introduced as “Owner, Carolina Panthers”. Is it just me or has she gone from “wife of owner David Tepper” to “Owner, Carolina Panthers” seemingly overnight? Mr. Tepper has gotten so much public backlash recently, and now his wife suddenly is the public face of the franchise? Not a good look IMO.

I don’t understand it either. LaMelo needs to get out there. Change of subject, but I definitely didn’t do my homework on Davis Bertans. They call him the “Latvian Laser” for a reason…dude shoots lights out at 6’10 and is pretty athletic. He was adored on his previous teams. He’s scoring 14 off the bench every game since he’s been here (more consistent than Hayward in less minutes). We really made out with those trades.
-
Our leading scorers today were Micic, Tre Mann, Grant Williams (all recent additions)…and B Miller. Lamelo needs to get back on the court ASAP or the trade talks will intensify. If he’s going to be the face of the franchise, he HAS to be out there every game.

EXCLUSIVE: Panthers add LSU coach to Dave Canales staff

That link has his email and phone number, someone should call or text him to offer exclusive congratulations. -
Just finished watching the movie Draft Day with Kevin Costner for the first time in 10 years. It’s so hilarious and sad at the same time, reminds me of the current Panthers. Costner’s Browns had #7 overall, but the generational QB (with issues) is a lock to go #1 overall. Browns GM trades #7 overall and their next two firsts to the Seahawks to move up to #1 (fleeced). Browns GM panics on the clock and instead drafts a LB instead of the generational QB at #1. Generational QB starts freefalling and the team that they initially traded with (Seahawks) are gonna steal him at #7 with the two future firsts in the bag. So the Browns GM snakes a deal with #6 (Jaguars) for three future 2nd rounders. Then the Browns GM calls the Seahawks back (at #7) and asks for all those firsts back, plus a player, for that QB. He moves back one spot from #6 to #7, gets all his picks back plus a player… and then still gets the RB he wanted all along at 7. Complete cluster-fug but absolutely reminded me of Fitterer. In on all deals.

Sucks we lost at the Raptors. Bertans hit a 3 to give us the lead inside of two minutes, but we couldn’t hang on. Side note: watching NBA TV and a replay of Malik Monk GOING OFF for 39. Might not be popular opinion, but letting him go was a big mistake for this franchise. I always loved his upside and now it’s shining in Sacramento. He’s locked up 6th Man of the Year.
-
This new roster is really surprising me. Hanging with the Raptors on the road in Toronto. No Melo, no Mark, no Cody Martin. Starting Micic, Grant Williams, and Tre Mann… with Bertans playing big minutes. Can’t watch the game but anyone who is…how have they looked today?

They could do a “Throw your drink in Tep’s face” day and I bet it’d be a hit. Best shot at a sellout crowd.

I saw Dan Morgan quoted a Taylor Swift song and then Burns liked one of her posts. 99.8% sure we’re trading Burns to the Chiefs for Travis Kelce.
-
Commanders got a 2nd for Montez Sweat. Bears then signed him for 4-years and $98 million. Seems letting him walk wouldn’t make sense if we can get something/anything for him.
-
I mean I’d take Taylor out if she didn’t tell Travis.

Playing in 4 of the last 5 Super Bowls. And winning 3.

The guy works for ESPN, who raises prices 10% or more every year. Not defending Tepper, but come on with this take on National TV (not to mention belittling our team, city, and stadium).

Mad Dog is even worse than Stephen A.
-
We could trade Burns for Fields and complete the Carolina Panthers front office’s complete rebuild of the Chicago Bears roster in one year.
-
Didn’t see that Aleksej Pokuševski signing, thanks. 17th overall pick at 19 years old, 7-foot Serbian who ran the point one game for OKC and had an NBA triple double, lol? Some lofty comparisons to Chet Holmgrem. Sounds like your hail-Mary type pickup, maybe he’s nothing, maybe he sticks. I do like that we’re getting younger.

Anyone have a take on Davis Bertans? When I saw him part of the Hayward trade and saw his contract ($17mik), I assumed he’d be a buyout along with Kyle Lowry. But he didn’t get bought out and is playing significant minutes. Seems to be a stretch 4 (6’10) that can actually shoot the three at a decent clip. He was 4/8 from three tonight, mostly garbage time. At $17mil (not fully guaranteed) he’s one of our most expensive players but can’t imagine he’s a longterm fit. Guessing he was included to match Hayward’s salary and won’t stick around CLT next year? The real pieces from that move were Micic, Tre Mann, and the two 2nds.
