Passing on a star for more draft capital
mrcompletely11 replied to unicar15's topic in Carolina Panthers
The locked in podcast goes into this on the past weeks episode. He looks at the trade backs that the Seahawks have done in the past 10ish drafts. It aint pretty. He also looks at the 2nd contract rates for first rounders. Tackles are #1 there by a long shot. So stay at 8 hope Sewell falls if not Slater. This isnt hard -

51:50 here they talk about Lance and give some great stats. https://www.theringer.com/2021/4/21/22395141/the-nfl-draft-take-purge 27 starts ever. High school/college combined. Thats a concern Run heavy offense in high school only 113 total passes in high school. 53% completion Thats a concern 319 pass attempts in college. Thats a concern Add all of that up and Lance is way behind the 8 ball and its going to take a long long time to get him up to speed. Like I said all along I think Rhule and Co took a look at him and decided it was just too much to try and get him at 8 and get him ready. -

His lack of reps and overall throws is horrifying -

And he is making coherent points. I think our staff evaluated him and saw some of the same things. -
Hurney fuged us last draft when we had a choice of a premier tackle. Hopefully Fit doesnt do the same if the draft falls like I hope it does. fug hurney

Panthers likely trading back in the first
mrcompletely11 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Due to his circumstances and all the data that is backing that up, I am not ready to call SD a bust yet but I get why some do. Me personally I think Darnold is perfect for brady. He isnt scared to take massive shots downfield and he isnt like Teddy and just play check down all the time. He wants to push the ball. I know I am overly optimistic but as I stand right now I probably prefer SD over Lance. And I want a left tackle so bad it hurts. -

History also says 3 of the top 5 qbs will bust -
We had a qb and no line and never had back to back winning seasons. In fact we got said qb killed. Its a happy medium we are trying to reach

I think our staff has decided that there are only 2 qb's deemed blue chips. -

He is creeping our way in recent mocks. Cincy obviously is the key. -
I guess you hated Jordan gross then
-
Maybe but there are a lot of guys out there breaking fields down and seeing the same thing. If he was a slam dunk we would have moved to 3

At pick 15 or so why would you want to handcuff yourself to a headache like that unneedlessly? Why not get slater at 8 and know what you have and be fuging done with it. No worries, no trying to improve his mentality, just pick him and let him start for a decade. It makes no sense

The knock on Darrisaw being lackadaisical and lazy at times makes me want to hard pass. Sewell and Slater both want to kill you. Darrisaw just does enough and then stops. Kiper interviewed him on Saturday and point blank asked him about his reputation and darrisaw said it was "the haters". Hard fuging pass.

Its what the numbnuts on this board keep ignoring. Slater and Gross are basically identical players with Slater being stronger coming out. They have the exact same game. Sign me up for another round of Jordan Gross. Bitching about Slaters size is retarded. The kid is smart, fast, strong and can play
-
Could a 23 year old Jordan Gross play in 2021?
-
Rhule/Brady put Teddy in so many situations to win the game and he didnt come through. Thats on Teddy not them. Fields slow progression reads, pocket awareness and long delivery are what is being pointed out as to why he is "dropping". All the athletic ability in the world means nothing if you cannot read a defense or get past your first read. Chris simms does a great breakdown on him on Ryan R podcast on the ringer

I get that but how far we going back and for what. Sewell and Slater are day one starters at LT. The next tier not so much.
-
Maybe but I am still in the "trust Rhule/Brady" mode until they prove me wrong. The issues leaking out about Fields are starting to scare the hell out of me.
-
Fields is going to drop in the draft. I bet he slides right by us
-
goddamnit For fugs sake just dont get cute and draft a damn LT. This isnt hard
