  1. I'm going to toot my own horn, I called this when the trade happened. made too much sense
  2. In order for me to have faith in Bryce moving forward he will have to prove on more weeks than not that he is capable of elevating the talent around him and be the reason we win games. He showed that in the GB game last year, flashed it at other times. Not impossible but he has a very narrow road to success
  3. Likely in a very similar position as we are now. I could see us winning a game or two more.
  4. I think he is far more likely to be the #1 pick right now. However I think this will be regarded as a weak QB class provided there aren't meteroic rises of people (Jayden Daniels, Joe Burrow)
  5. Completely new regimen in town, I think it's still unlikely to happen, but if Bryce does not show improvement this year, we are the worst football team again, and there is a QB taking number one overall I would not rule this out
  6. fwiw the patriots were going to draft XL if we didn't source:
  7. One thing I keep coming back to is: edge is a very difficult position to find quality players at. It's entirely possible outside of the top three guys we had all of the other edges rated very low. overdrafting one of them is how you get DJ Johnson
  8. Oh I thought he meant Roman Wilson lol
  9. very fair and would have been a good choice with your draft
  10. that's fair and that's my point, this is actually pretty hard to do in real time! It's easy for people to be negative of the GMs in hindsight but when you actually go through the process yourself it gets much harder
  11. figured it out: this guy just s.hit his pants
  12. with all the negativity right now, I think a fun exercise would be to see if you were GM who would you have picked. It's too complicated to go back through all the trades so let's just pretend those are set in stone. Here's how I would have done it: This will be fun to bump in a year when I am completely wrong about all of this. FWIW this is not a complaining thread it's more of an exercise to show that for all of you negativity it's actually really hard to nail drafts in real time. 32- Ladd 46- AD Mitchell 72- Christian Haynes 101- Theo Johnson 157- Caelen Carson 200- Cedric Johnson 240- Beau Brade
  13. And I may end my panthers fandom if we end up drafting Ewers. He has a LONG way to go to be worthy of a first round pick much less a top 5 selection
  14. Looks rough right now, I highly suspect Beck will be the consensus 1 by seasons end, Shadeur will go round 1. The real question is who is the riser? Every year someone has an astrnomical rise: a few that come to mind recently are Jayden Daniels, Joe Burrow and even Kenny Pickett to an extent. Who is that guy next year
  15. I agree with you there, and I think passing on Center is one reason I ding this draft. We really need to draft and develop a guy and just keep kicking the can down the road
  16. fair question and I think the XL selection warrants probably it's own thread but I think they are trying to build a complimentary WR room. I really, really liked Ladd but his skill set somewhat redundant with what we already have. In terms of the future it's harder to find true "x" WRs than it is, slot guys
  17. yea I totally agree. The trade is worth it alone for the financial considerations given what WRs make nowadays. Further if we left this draft without a WR we felt good about it would be an F
  18. Could use another CB- Gilmore on a one year deal makes so much sense Could use another edge rusher, although I highly anticipate when we draft ~top3 next year we will be drafting one Center is obviously a position of concern, not because Corbett scares me from a talent perspective but his injuries do
  19. good character guy, will contribute on specials teams, hopefully he has an AJ Klein esque career for us, that would be an absolute win in the 7th round
  20. Corey Lindsey is currently the most expensive center in the NFL at 12.5m per year that would equal the..... approximately the 27th most expensive WR in the league LMAO
  21. lmao seriously, just look at contract values right now. WR has turned into one of the most important positions in the league
  22. Probably not worth it's own thread but I called it. New England was trying to get to 32, so the Bills did us a solid. Traded to us not division rivals. New England was targeting XL
  23. I'm not turning this into a Bryce thread, but I think Canales looked at Bryce and said what does he do best and what are his limitations. Best: throws with anticipation, accurate Limitations: deep ball, escapability We rectify that with huge guards up front to prevent interior pressure and help the run game, bolster the run game, trade for the best separation WR in the NFL (by stats) and draft a Deebo like WR w/ the body type and potential to become a true X/outside ball winner. Like I said the vision is there folks.
  24. Agree a longterm WR corps (assuming all pan out of) X- XL, Z- Dionte, Slot- Mingo; actually meshes very well together the vision is there, whether or not it comes to fruition is a question every team has to ask themselves
  25. Seems pretty clear what they are trying to build to me, a power running game that supports a quick passing game. We signed two huge guards, Canales is known for emphasizing quick throw time, we traded for Dionte Johnson, drafted the best RB in the draft, first pick was a bigger Deebo Samuel and we drafted a receiving TE Power run, play action, quick throws, try to limit third and long.
