  1. I think he's the right guy. Just what his full potential is remains an unknown same as Bryce Young. I hope to see big strides next season and early when the games really matter. That's the only measuring stick that matters.
  2. Seems like a silly thing to hyperfocus on especially in this day and age. The bulk of social media sports circles are full of people who offer nothing but hot takes. The sports talking heads legitimately aren't even much better even the former players. They get it wrong as much as anyone else. I don't necessarily like it either but it is what it is if it bothers you that much then turn it off and disengage. You are the one who went out of your way to dig up threads about him to point at others yet you don't care? Doesn't line up. Darnold has clearly been as successful as he had been to this point because of the system in place and the roster around him. Similarly to Purdy with the 49ers. But the facade always eventually begins to fade. If you want to win a Super Bowl more often than not you need that elite QB or at least a fringe elite QB who isn't system dependent.
  3. He's going to a contender but I don't think he's worth the headache and anyways he's not getting any younger either so now it's a question of when his skills start to drop off.
  4. Honestly and I'm not at all trying to denigrate Evero here but can we really say he is even much of an upgrade over Snow? Yes the talent disparity is certainly a big difference but still it just seems like this would have been a good time to just reset there. Instead we're doubling down.
  5. To be clear I don't think Evero is a bad coach and he could certainly have a big turnaround coinciding with us adding a great deal more defensive talent but I just can't shake the feeling this marriage has ran it's course.
  6. It doesn't give me hope. So now the question is was this ultimately Canales call? Is Tepper forcing this?
  7. I agree. I think the overwhelming majority of fans here just want us to return to contender status again and shed joke status for good. If Bryce Young is the future for that great. He is still very young. That's less resources and time we have to waste looking further. But just like you said for the time being going forward a reset and some new life in the QB room will benefit everyone. I would think we should all be able to come to an agreement on that.
  8. Just a week ago it was you doing the flexing on behalf of that 14-3 QB now suddenly it's a problem to talk about him having his worst game since his time with the Jets heading into the playoffs. Bit hypocritical.
  9. Reduced to playing for field goals and then it goes wide Oh no
  10. Well those of us that watched Darnold play in NY and here knew that it was unlikely he would fully turn the page on what held him back from being a franchise QB despite having every tool needed. When things get tough he panics and reverts to the same old same old. It's on tape over and over and over. But still even some Panthers fans here have bought into the hype this season. Even had a guy here who just started posting in September dig up some posts of me criticizing Darnold for a game just like this saying I was wrong about him. @Joe Bear you watching the game buddy?
  11. It's not a good look for the NFC. And the Packers lost to the Bears today.
  12. As of right now it's looking like O'Connell has hidden the real Darnold amidst a stacked roster like Shanahan managed to do with Purdy for a time. But it all comes to the forefront in the playoffs.
  13. At this point Andy Dalton has no future and serves no purpose here. Bryce is entering his third season he doesn't need any mentorship from Dalton. This QB room outside of Young needs a full reset and it should be Canales choosing who will be brought in.
  14. Can't say one way or another whether Darnold is the same QB he's always been but one thing this game is confirming is the NFC is not at all what it used to be. Even the best teams in the conference look like they could get routed by the best AFC playoff teams. No reason we can't be competing for playoffs next season.
  15. I don't see any path forward that doesn't involve us turning the page there. It's for the best for both parties. Now it's only a matter of when not if.
  16. I mean on the surface your point isn't invalid about waiting to see further results. But Mike Shanahan pretty much nuked Robert Griffin's career to the point where I say honestly fug him and his overrated son.
  17. Idk the Lions are like a kindred spirit for us I don't wish Darnold any ill but the Vikings have had plenty of regular season success the last several years their fans aren't starved. I'll be pulling for a fellow tortured sports city in Detroit. I hope they win it all.
  18. I was looking around to see if anyone else was talking about this. Legitimately that is some overt bush league nonsense. I hope they get sent packing in the playoffs.
  19. The one thing I will say for sure that Morgan needs to stay away from is being under any illusions that he has to fix everything in a single offseason. Address the defense the best you can with the resources you have and add some more to the offense. It's going to take some time but we just need to follow the example of other franchises recently like the Lions.
  20. Even if he was the wrong guy for the job they never should have hired him the first place. I already didn't like the Patriots now I hope they implode even more the last thing we need is that franchise and their insufferable fans merging as a serious contender again.
  21. No one can give the answer to this until we get at least a handful of games under our belt next season.
  22. Right now we have something strong to build on heading into a very crucial offseason. Morgan needs to nail the draft and free agency. Canales and Bryce need to hit the ground running early in the season and only then will we have an early confirmation. Call me glass half full if you like but I'm a Charlotte sports fan I know better than to assume anything too early. By Halloween next year we'll know.
  23. To win the way we did to close the season and still have the 8th pick is pretty ideal all things considered I'll gladly take it.
