Oh no what an insurmountable expectation. Right? lol It literally only requires him to throw 2 passing touchdowns and then a couple more scoring drives letting Chuba Hubbard do the extra leg work. We went to overtime against the NY Giants with one passing touchdown. That same team just got absolutely whooped by the Bucs. The Bucs aren't even that good either. It's fine to have expecations guys.

When Bryce Young leads this offense to multiple 30+ point outings primarily through the passing game I will begin to become a believer. Until then everything remains in perspective.

If you seriously think Stroud looks like Bryce did as a rookie then congratulations you have the same bias as those you constantly accuse others of. Stroud is 4th in passing yards despite all the circumstances he's faced this season. Here we rejoice like it's Christmas morning when Bryce manages to cross 250 yards passing in a single game.
-
Stroud has 37 passing touchdowns in 27 games compared to Young with 16 touchdowns in 24 games. You play the game to score points. It's comical that some people in sports media cannot compliment Bryce Young for showing improvement that crosses the bare minimum threshold without trying to tear down Stroud just as they did to him before the draft.

I like him on a personal level and I know he's very raw but when someone like Knecht is contributing on a meaningful level right away it is infuriating watching this team slog their way to 60 points at home. This was a comically low scoring game until the fourth quarter and that's with LaMelo dropping 44 points after dropping 50 within the last week. So far I am not much impressed with the new front office. And enough with this Mark Williams foolishness. Get that man on the court or put him on the block.

I'm done hearing complaints about LaMelo until these fools start putting anyone around him and Miller worth a poo. 30 mins from our rook and only one damn point? Not good.

Forget about Bryce, Dave Canales is who we should be talking about.

Bryce Young in 24 career games: 16 touchdowns Kyle Allen in 13 games in 2019: 17 touchdowns Safe to say there's still questions about his passing ability for many people. Unless you're a self described "Stan" on twitter. -

Yeah at one point last season we took our first overall pick off the field in favor of an aging Andy Dalton to have him throw a hail mary. If you weren't a Panthers fan you would laugh. Obviously Bryce looked better in many phases but there are still situations where his arm limits what the offense can do. It should not be controversial to acknowledge that reality that we've all seen with our own two eyes. That's why many people myself included want to see new additions to the QB room in 2025 regardless of what transpires the rest of the season. -
This fuging sucks. I like Grant a lot. But we will get to see what coach Lee and the young guys can do under even tougher circumstances now.

Sure there's a ton of transplants in Colorado now. But as far as Denver in particular goes the Broncos have also been around for 65 years. Someone moving to Denver is going to be far more likely to become a fan of the Broncos and even attend games versus someone moving to Charlotte and the Panthers. Like I said it's not just one single thing with us it's multiple factors.
-
The Jets have been in existence for 65 years. The Panthers have been around for less than half that time. There just has not been enough time to establish that level of committed fandom here. The other issue is how bad the team has been over the last 6 years or so. That combined with what is now a transplant city with every rando from around the country wanting to plant their flag here is how you will continue to get a football stadium overtaken by opposing fans.

With a night to sleep on it I'm now firmly of the opinion that we keep letting Bryce improve the rest of the season and enter next years camp with 2 new additions to the QB room. One being a new veteran and the other being another rookie QB we can bring along slowly. If Bryce's ceiling is game manager so be it. In that instance it will be majorly beneficial to the team as a whole to have another QB waiting in the wings and use the other as trade bait. But we've got to be smart about this and think ahead. I cannot stress enough that we cannot again sit on our hands with the most important position. Meanwhile we've also been continuing to build up the rest of the roster in the meantime. Then maybe we will be ready to compete for the division and a playoff spot. That is the best path forward for this franchise given where we are and the mistakes we've made that should serve as a learning tool of what not to do.

Beautiful seeing the 49ers and their trash fanbase on the receiving end of a blowout loss.

It's the biggest problem with the whole situation. Any improvement even at all is good enough to be able to say we didn't draft an outright bust after what we gave up. It keeps going back to justification instead of just being honest about the player.
-
I agree some just take time and having to experience ups and downs and be humbled. My issue is it's only a matter of more time possibly if he has always displayed the necessary physical tools. But he hasn't because those don't exist. So more time is not going to suddenly morph him into something he is not. This is not a Sam Darnold situation. I cannot lie to myself and try to argue otherwise. No disrespect. That's just me keeping it real.
-
We aren't far apart here at all on our positions regarding the matter. Anyways most of us here want the same thing for our beloved franchise. I will say though in regards to Baker he always passed the eye test in terms of his physical tools. That's what separates him from Bryce Young and what the biggest question mark is in regards to his future. He's got to prove he can consistently make those big time throws at all levels.

We had one passing touchdown against the Giants and one passing touchdown against the Chiefs today. Yes a good backup can replicate that. And that is why Andy Dalton in significantly less games has the same number of 30 point outings as Bryce Young. I am on board with you guys about wanting to be hopeful for the future. Today was a good performance to build on especially at home. But let's please keep things in perspective. BTW the Bucs who honestly aren't even that good blew the doors off the Giants today after we went to overtime against them with 17 points. Again. Perspective.
-
Game manager or not the only way he can "steady the ship" for the time being is by getting touchdowns on the board. Maxing out at 1-2 passing touchdowns per game at best is honestly below a game manager. That's what any good backup worth his salt can give you.
-
Well the investment is something us as fans can deliberate over but my concern is with the decision makers who were involved in the pick (Morgan and Tepper) using just enough basic improvement from him as a reason to justify the trade and selection by handing him the keys again and we end up with yet another season of a lack of any real competition. Then if things go south again as the season goes on it's a rerun of this year. That's my worst case scenario right now looking ahead. That would finally lead to me beginning to tune out from the team altogether. Just give us real competition. All I ask.
-
I'm just going to respectfully and vehemently disagree with you on this. The return on our investment needs to be significantly more than a game manager. If not then we keep looking. I do not believe that is remotely unreasonable.

I think we're at an impasse as you are refusing to address points made that go well beyond hot takes such as "Bryce Young is bad". I've already given him credit for today. The conversation is much more than just good versus bad. The conversation at it's root is does Bryce Young have the tools to consistently lead an offense to more than one or two passing touchdowns? We do not know the answer to that today. We know he played better and hats off to him. But the team around him also stepped up. And many negative things have been said about the defense this season. While they did take some lumps they helped keep the offense in this and certainly prevented a blowout. Credit needs to be given there too. Because typically in games with this iteration of the Panthers offense when they put up 4 field goals and only one touchdown against an offense with a young star quarterback it is usually not a close game. This was a team effort and a well coached game from Canales.
-
Isn't that what skeptics are referring to? We would be ecstatic about that from our first overall pick? That's how low we've dropped the bar already. This is not a mid round QB. That's why these discussions get so tense. People struggle to separate Bryce Young the person from what Bryce Young the first overall pick is expected to be. And we have only moved further and further away from the narrative surrounding him before the draft that he was such a great prospect that he did not need to be surrounded by elite players to look like a franchise QB. He would elevate those around him. Until he does that IMO you keep bringing in competition and pushing him. Otherwise we are not a serious franchise.
-
As much as I dislike the Cowboys I must say I've begun to despise the Commanders and the hype behind them so honestly I'm glad they got humbled
-
Extremely relieved to hear he is okay. He will be an asset for us in the future in what has been a wasteland for the position aside from Olsen.
