  1. Darnold is an established bust with now two different teams in his fifth NFL season. He might be a backup that's about it. We didn't draft him we do not owe him the opportunity to keep giving him chances and we've already given him 18 million dollars. Why you want to equate him with Justin who is only in his second season is strange but do you I guess. Fields has loads of potential and he's on a rookie contract in a league where guys like Mahomes are making MLB money now. We passed on him and we cannot afford to make the same mistake this year. That's all I've got to say.
  2. Is it? If so my mistake. All this time how I've read the stats listed ESPN has the 3pt shots separated. Still our other guys take a ton of shots without much efficiency and Oubre is one of them like you said.
  3. I hope this isn't true it's way too early to give anyone the gig just yet. But with the way this team does things nothing would surprise me.
  4. Oh stop it now you're just saying that because we are discussing a QB who you are not personally in love with. You guys need to retire this mentality. Who gives a poo what college a guy played for or his playstyle. You shoot your shot when the opportunity presents itself. That is what we can should and will do in April if we have any sense.
  5. If I recall you were low on him in the draft were you not? I'm not going to change your opinion clearly just as you are not going to change mine. Neither of us can say when or if at all he will develop into a full package starting quarterback but as it stands moving forward now he looks like he has plenty of talent for the position so the question is can he put it all together in Chicago of all places. And using that situation as a learning experience the lesson moving forward should be that we are not in a position to pass on anymore quarterbacks for defensive players.
  6. Just "happy to be here" is the story of the Carolina Panthers.
  7. I'll give you a bit of a history lesson since you're a newer fan. We had a guy here for many years here by the name of Chris Gamble who was a very solid corner in his own right. Some would say he was even underappreciated. At the end of the day we didn't win poo meaningful because of him or anyone else in our secondary. In 2015 when we went to the Super Bowl we went with guys like Josh Norman Charles Tillman Kurt Coleman and Roman Harper. All of whom were basically washed up not long thereafter. I like Jaycee just fine but he won't ever be able to overcome underwhelming quarterback play.
  8. The oline was and is a problem but Mike Tomlin is a good enough football mind to know he isn't scared of Sam Darnold. They had no concern about Sam throwing the ball efficiently so that allowed them to tee off on our oline even more.
  9. The fact were talking like scoring more than 14 points is so insurmountable shows how truly desperate we are for a real QB. I guess keep finding silver linings in the fact Darnold didn't turn the ball over despite the fact the coaching staff clearly didn't trust him enough to open things up more.
  10. I meant the second quarter and beyond. If anyone expected to only have to score 7 in the first and still have a chance to win they are nuts. No defense is good enough to sustain that pitiful level of offensive output for 4 quarters. We got all the way down to the what 2 yard line and couldn't get in the end zone and kicked a field goal like losers in our own house. Even a mediocre QB should have been able to score there. At home no less. Yes we do not have the best circumstances within our offense and we have areas we can improve in but the Steelers had Mitch Trubisky. Fug what a pitiful sad state of affairs we are in.
  11. People said the same stuff about Baker before he got truly exposed. Sam already has been exposed. Only Panthers fans are foolish enough to have forgotten it already. Every QB on this team currently can be removed and upgraded at some level. That's the simple facts. And until we do that none of the other factors you mentioned matter anyway. When we went down 7 I knew the game was over regardless. And let's be clear about it. The coaches know Sam would have turned the ball over eventually. They purposely held him back. Yet you want to celebrate because he didn't do anything terrible. How ridiculous.
  12. I didn't understand the playoff talk and I damn sure don't understand it now. This team is incomplete. That's why many people were saying get yourself the best draft pick you can and build up this offense in the offseason. And for goodness sake enough with this defensive identity tomfoolery. The best teams in the league are putting up 30 points consistently and at least giving themselves a solid chance. We are not one of them.
  13. LaMelo Ball 30 shots 31 points. If only some other guys could take notes maybe they would have won.
  14. Despite the fact that some folks here want you to believe Scott Fitterer was a glorified errand boy he signed off on that Ian Thomas contract extension.
  15. Darnold still can't even get over the 59% completion hump. Trubisky is bad and even he has 64% for his career. Sam Darnold is a backup at best and will likely be gone next season and we can and will acquire an upgrade over what he has to offer. You don't have to like the facts but that's the rub bud.
  16. On the flipside multiple posters have went on the attack over the last few weeks against fans who wanted a higher draft pick. Well this is what you get when reality slaps you across the cheek. It's not fun for anyone.
  17. Mitch is and has been the better QB. Keep coping.
  18. Outperformed by Mitch Trubisky. Find a better QB to cape for dude.
  19. I hear you but common sense should have said let him finish the season before making plans. People gotta stop setting themselves up for a big fat disappointment by building up coaches or players without having proven anything for more than a game or two.
  20. Wilks is an obligatory answer. Most of us save for a small percentage knew the odds he faced. When was the last NFL interim to step in and become the permanent head coach and be successful? If you want a real discussion you look at the people pulling the strings that set all this in motion. Otherwise this is pointless.
  21. Well we can now dispense with the feel good vibes and stories about folks with local ties. Who gives a fug where they are from it won't help in the W/L column anyway.
  22. All options on the table as they always should have been.
