  1. I never said I was a woman. I just said I wasn't a dude. I never said I was white nor did I say I was a person of color. (translation=anyone not with European origins). Why do you need to categorize everyone? Do you feel the need to treat me differently if I tell you I'm a an old man? What if I'm really a middle aged woman? You probably assume that I'm white because my image is of Rhule. What if I told you that my favorite Panther of all time is Steve Smith. Do I still think Fields isn't a good QB because I'm racist? Even if I'm not white? Or am I'm not allowed because you're racist? If I'm a woman, does that mean that if you don't agree with me that you're sexist? Doesn't my opinion have the same valor as yours? Are you a racist and a sexist or is it possible that we evaluate players differently? I read earlier that some evaluations fit into stereotypes. Fair enough but those same evaluations mentioned athletically superior. Isn't that a stereotype as well? Is that stereotype acceptable in your world? People who view the world by race are racists. People who view the world by sex are sexists. All of those people are called bigots. I personally hate bigotry. You have no right to define me. If you feel the need to justify your weak opinions based on any of these things then you have become exactly what you claim to speak against.
  2. Don't call me sweet dude race baiter. I'm not a dude, but I am sweet. Is Mac known for getting wasted? I haven't heard that story yet. Got a link?
  3. The 49ers don't want a QB to sit and learn behind Garapolo. Jimmy G isn't old. What's he going to teach exactly? Nothing. They want a QB who already has shown NFL knowledge. Whether you like it or not, Jones has demonstrated those things. He can open his receivers with his eyes and his fakes. He can anticipate receivers being open way before they are open. Everyone gets caught up on physical attributes because that is the shiny new thing. Jones represents the old school QB. That's why so many people hate on him. But if he goes to SF he has the skills, with that team, to dominate.
  4. At least half of these people that are now being implied as to being racist were all over the Watson trade. The last time I checked he was black. Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't make them a racist, white supremacist or a white supremacist's enabler. Is that the right word for non whites who agree that Fields isn't that good? In fact, this really makes me mad. How dare you imply that I'm a racist because of my football opinion. I've got to walk away now but in my opinion it's the people that always focus on race who are the real racists.
  5. Says you, not me. It also says QB not NFL ready. Are you saying that if a QB is black then he cannot possibly have those traits? To me that sounds racist. I treat everyone the same. Do you?
  6. Uh oh. Whenever someone say this you just know that's exactly what they are going to do.
  7. I can understand that. It goes against what any one of have thought before this final week so yeah, it would definitely be a surprise. However, I'd honestly be surprised about it and not mad about. I'd have a much harder time dealing with Fields, Lance or Jones at 8 than Horn. I still wouldn't be mad about it but it would definitely be harder for me to understand. I mean, at least we NEED a number 1 corner.
  8. Thank you Mr. Scott!!! It's always great to hear someone make sense in the final days leading up to the draft. This QB nonsense drives me crazy. I honestly can't get my head around this constant talk of drafting a QB at 8. Without saying which QB will ultimately be the better QB, just the entire idea is illogical and it never stops. I'm personally hoping to sweet baby Jesus that Lance and Fields are both there at 8 just so there isn't any remaining doubt about this subject when we pass on both of them. LT, CB, WR are all possibilities whether at 8 or somewhere else in the first but QB is definitely NOT!
  9. I hope this is wrong. I believe that Denver is our best opportunity for trading Teddy and that would not happen if they did this. So, I'm praying they don't take a QB
  10. Every mock I see this week has Eagles taking him at 12 so if that's who they really want they might have to take him before 12. I have no idea who they are going to draft though. Thursday is like a box of chocolate.
  11. But even he admits here: "As I wrote last week, Carolina hates the fact that the franchise has averaged 6.2 picks per draft in the last eight years when the average team has 8.1. I’m not sure at all they’d use the pick here on Fields, because they’re truly optimistic about Sam Darnold." He admits that he's only speculating and immediately argues against his own pick with sound logic. If I publicly state a pick I'm confident of I do not go on to explain why my pick makes zero sense.
  12. He answered the question and he was truthful. That is the trend. That doesn't mean that he doesn't want Jones. In fact, about 5 years ago, there wasn't a player like them that was considered a top QB. Not 1. It's a new thing which is why it's called a trend. 5 years ago and Mac Jones would likely be considered the 2nd best QB in this draft or at least the 3rd and it would be almost unanimous. I saw a Dan Patrick show saying that teams that interviewed Mac and gave him some of their plays and discussed their strategies and he aced it. Then they contacted him a month later and he could still recall everything from their first interview, plays, strategies and all. He's a football guru. What he lacks in physical attributes he compensates with elite football IQ. He has the football IQ of a Manning or Brady. YOu can insert him into your offense and he will get it immediately and you will soon be able to open the entire book. He is likely the best QB in the draft in that sense. If Jones goes to San Fran then I predict he will be the top QB in this draft by the end of 2023.
  13. Unless they don't view him as a tight end. He could also be seen as a big receiver. He's almost exactly the same size as Megatron. The fact that there are Julio trade rumors might give this even more merit. Remove the TE from in front of his name and add the letters WR. Does it still sound silly?
  14. There's no way the Pats are talking to us about potentially trading up from 15 to 8 for anything other than a QB. I know that there are many who are still dreaming about Fields but it's not going to happen. The writing's on every wall. Go ahead and accept it now and the draft will be much more pleasant.
  15. I forgot to add to the original post, but who would you think are the 5 potential trade partners? Do you agree with the list? is there anyone else you think may be a potential partner and why?
  16. No thank you. I like posts like this and conversations like this. The posts here have been very enjoyable. It's like the conversations you can have at your favorite Panther's bar just having a beer, some food and fan talk with the guys just wanting to have some fun in the afternoon with the boys before returning home to the family.
  17. In the pre-draft presser, we said we have spoken with 5 teams about a potential trade down. Since then, I have been trying to consider who those 5 teams would be. Remember, in the same conversation we also said that we had 16 players as 1st round picks and we do not know who those players are. My guess would be at least 3 and as many as 6 are NOT commonly ranked as the 16 best players in the draft based on our staffs own personal preferences. Based on rumors, even if they make no sense to me personally, and then what I think some teams may be willing to do I have come up with these 5 teams: Broncos (to stop us from from allowing another team to jump ahead of them for their QB) Chargers (to secure a non QB they really like. Maybe Slater or a WR) Patriots (to jump ahead of Denver for a QB they like. Yes they don't usually do this but they don't usually sign big FAs and they did and they used to have Mr. Brady) Cardinals (to secure a non QB they really like. Specifically a WR) Bears (For a QB. The coach and GM's butts have to be hot. Underachieving team might reach to save jobs) Possible: WFT (I don't put them here as I think they may be too conservative now to move so high unless their owner hadn't learned his lesson yet)
  18. Hopefully Arnold will help that situation out a little and the we either draft a WR in the mid to later ounds to do that or someone else on the roster steps up.
  19. I would agree with everyone here except for 2. Parsons has to be an absolutely no way a fit for Rhules' team. Rhule is a character guy who scratches players off his list based on elevator behavior so I cannot imagine any scenario where he'd be okay with drafting Parsons in any round. Samuel JR is a good CB but I don't believe he fits our parameters for a QB and definitely not as a CB 1 or 2 and personally I think we are looking for a CB1.
  20. I would say frustrating yeah. Especially after that 3 game win streak and the way we beat the Cardinals. THAT was the game where I and probably a lot of us, got ahead of ourselves and started thinking we were better than we were because we all could see how close we were to being who I think we will become. If that makes any sense. They were a legit playoff contender and we looked better. Even after that we played some good teams really well and even almost beat the Chiefs. I was still waiting for that last "click" that would put us into contention for a wildcard but then it never happened. Teddy was never great but it almost looked like it could be enough. Losing CMC made a difference but it was more after Teddy got hurt. When he came back he was worse. Still, I saw enough good that with these off season moves, which I am VERY optimistic about, plus the way we seem to be approaching the draft, that I have high hopes for the direction we're moving in. I'm not saying next season we'll set the league on fire but I can definitely see us moving up from wannabe to playoff contenders in 2022. I think our defense will be much better and my hope on offense will be improvement and a little more Shazam! I'm not looking for Darnold to be a top 5 QB but if he can come out and have his best season to date and give us some big play possibilities and some passing TDs without too many turnovers then I think he will be fine here. I'm going to consider his first 3 seasons with the Jets as his rookie campaign on a bad team. Now I'll judge him as a year 2 QB that has some talent around him and I want to see his progression along that line. Then hopefully, next season we have more talent (or experience as everyone is either really young or new to the system) and see him continue to progress. I know I'm an optimist, I'm a not I glass half empty or glass half full type of guy, for me the glass is completely full, half water and half air. But I really believe that of all the young QBs that we could have brought here that Darnold has the biggest chance of becoming something special with THIS staff on THIS team. I think he's a perfect fit for what we want to do and I think our team is the perfect place for him to have success. I'm expecting at least a Mayfield type of improvement this season after he got paired with Stefanski.
  21. This is an interesting bet to me. I like contemplating scenarios and possibilities in general and I have contemplated this exact decision. Surtain vs Horn. It's an interesting one as Surtain is a little bigger but Horn is a little faster. Surtain is more developed at this point but has been coached at the highest level his whole life. I read an interesting take on this and it did make some sense. Basically, Surtain has already been coached up. That doesn't mean he can't learn something new nor improve on what he's learned but you shouldn't expect him to be much more than what he is now. (Which is a great CB by the way), Horn has surely had great mentors in football and good trainers through his Father's connections as well I'd imagine. Both of these kids were raised to be football players and had the resources to receive the best opportunities. Can Horn be coached higher? Can Surtain continue to grow? Those are good questions and only time will tell but both appear to be solid players with great NFL potential. Personally, I think we may prefer Horn as I think he'd fit Snow's defense better.
  22. Absolutely. We all saw it time and time again. It was a combination of things. For the record, I definitely want us being better than 5-11 every season but considering our circumstances last season i.e. completely rookie staff, bad roster, covid protocols etc., I wouldn't call that season abysmal as we were much better than I e3xpected us to be all things considered. 100% agree. I think that's what the point of the discussion is really about. We all agree we need to fix both things but the question is it which order in the draft? Can we improve LT more at 39 than what we have at CB at 39? Are the added picks worth any difference between what we think to be available? It's about total value. Elie LT + good CB or Shut Down CB + good LT + good WR/TE and maybe a pick in 2022.
  23. Does it? I'm not saying that you're wrong but how much of that can we absolutely put of the offensive line? Surely some of it. Not being able to push it in on the goal line for example. But I'd also say a lot of it was not have a legitimate red zone threat coupled with a conservative QB who wasn't able to "put it in there" or "run it in there".
  24. There are a couple of other players who could get drafted within that range who I'd doubt would be 1 of our 16 like Parsons and Smith. We could even have a thing against players who opted out last season if we don't like their reasons. In the pre-draft presser they said some players had good reasons. And the ones who didn't? Does that drop them from our 16? Maybe.
