Harbaugh to Carolina Makes Too Much Sense...
rebelrouser replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
Power hungry owners and GM's make dumb decisions on coaching fires all the time. They went 7-25 during the next two coaching hires. And if Harbaugh is such an ass, why don't Michigan players transfer out now that they are allowed to leave for any reason? -

How much to move up to #2 in Draft?
rebelrouser replied to bLACKpANTHER's topic in Carolina Panthers
Really? -
NBC Sports I could see it in a year with a Trevor Lawrence or a Andrew Luck or Cam Newton. I will also say it would be better to trade up for Young or Stroud rather than take Anthony Richardson at 9. That's right we are back to 9 now. tankathon

Nothing. I would love for Young or Stroud to fall to us but we've been giving up draft picks for years. Time to build.
-
You need a competent oline and some playmakers for a young qb to develop. By the time Justin Fields has this he will be in a wheelchair. I wouldn't mind keeping Sam while Corral and whomever we draft develop, but he is not worth anything near the 18M we are currently paying him. He would have to take a huge salary cut and realize that getting the young guys snaps and experience is also a priority.

We got to see all three in the SEC East this year. Hooker had more talent around him, but his stats against similar competition were much better than Levis and a ton better than Richardson. All three of these players should go in the second round but won't. I hope we don't reach with our first pick.

MMQB: Breer on Wilks/potential OC candidate
rebelrouser replied to *FreeFua*'s topic in Carolina Panthers
I remember Robbie Anderson (I know not the best source) yelling on the sidelines that the defense knew our routes before we ran them. Brady was a co-coordinator in college, and offensive coordinator for us, and now is a qb coach on a team that doesn't really need a qb coach. He was Rhule's pick. It is possible that both Rhule AND Brady were the problem. Please hire a proven OC. -
My personal opinion is to take Bryce Young or CJ Stroud at 8 IF they are available. If they are not, trade back or pick up a position of need and look for a qb in the second round. I don't see that much difference between Richardson/Levis vs. Hendon Hooker.

MMQB: Breer on Wilks/potential OC candidate

Pairing a questionable defensive minded head coach hire with a quarterbacks coach who has never called plays before sounds like a great idea. Joe Brady level great idea. -
There is simply not. Hell, Young and Stroud have warts. The guys after them look like second round fliers. Wilks has really kind of screwed us with a worst case scenario: Wilks winning gives us the 8th pick and him as hc and he keeps McAdoo and drafts Anthony Richardson at 8.
-
We currently pick 8 and first round qb's have some of the biggest bust rates of any position. Blindly taking a qb in round 1 is not the answer. We need to keep our options open. Quality qb falls to us take him. If not, trade back and take the Notre Dame TE or edge or wr. I still want to see what Corral can do with some real coaching and practice snaps.

Baker Mayfield is having a great game in LA right now.

People keep talking about how bad Florida is but their last four recruiting classes were 9, 7, 12, and 18 (and that was the '22 class). People forget how bad Florida looked with Anthony Richardson.
-
Some of the experts and our coaches had Corral ranked as the top qb prospect in the draft. The new coach will either agree with that or he won't. I know whoever Tepper picks won't think Corral is the worst qb in last year's draft based on what little was learned about him with the Panthers. I know if Carolina continues to use draft capital to go after qb's they will continue to suck. We have more problems than qb. And, Anthony Richardson is a big gamble that will take years to develop. He is more of a sit behind Aaron Rodgers a few years type. I'm pretty confident that Corral would beat him out in the short term.

They seem pretty bunched up. Mayer may not be worth the 8th pick. We could get quality in the second or even third round. 2023 TEs
-
TE would be a stretch at 8 or lower so i would expect us to trade back and take the TE from Notre Dame or wait until round 2. There are a couple of good edge rushers and a wr who would fit nicely at 8. If we take Anthony Richardson at 8, we will have to wait at least three years before he is deemed a bust and dropped like a bad habit.

We are up to 8th now. Our needs are qb, te, wr, edge, lb. I hope we don't reach and, instead, take the best available at need position. Tyree Wilson Texas Tech Edge, Quentin Johnson TCU WR, Will Levis UK QB, Myles Murphy Clemson Edge, Michael Mayer Notre Dame TE are all right around there. I am not impressed with Levis or Anthony Richardson at qb so i would look for Hendon Hooker UT QB in round two. If Bryce Young or Stroud are available, take them. If not, Edge or WR is fine. That is my two cents. If we take this strategy, we could also move back for someone that wants Levis or Richardson.
