Having a touchback every time eliminates the possibility of the return team fumbling and giving up great field position and/or touchdown. Reversely, it also gives the chance for the return team to do the same. There is some crazy stat about the percentage of winning when a touchdown is scored on a special teams play, I forget what it is.

The whole "college coach" mantra will Rhule might actually pay off in this aspect. Think about it, Rhule had to plan to replace players that were going to be gone and couldn't be retained with a contract because they lost eligibility. It just seems like there are plans for the future and replacing players strategically as needed.
