  1. Based on his coaching history he'd probably be an OC if he weren't a HC. He seems like a better fit as a HC though.
  2. Heck ya. It's gonna be a looong 7 months until the next time the Panthers are playing any sort of football.
  3. Defense is much improved (as it should be with the investment given) and I feel that they are a top 10 defense. They seem to do a good job of getting pressure (5th highest pressure rate) and have improved upon their offseason goal of getting off the field on 3rd down. 2020: Opponents converted 49.25% of 3rd down attempts (2nd worst) 2021: Opponents converting 37.86% of 3rd down attempts (10th best) For reference the best team has been around 32% allowed the past two seasons. With that said, I do also wonder if a different DC would get more out of them. I think we will see further improvement as the young players get another season under their belt and we get Horn back; JC was playing really really good football.
  4. I have no issues with Tepper. I like that he is aggressive even if that means a higher chance of failure.
  5. Still on the wait and see path. Nothing from yesterdays game made the case for firing any stronger (it probably makes it weaker). IMO the team played hard and overall looked better than the previous week; Penalties were down and they didn't turn the ball over until the game was already decided.
  6. It is a stretch to say Cam was benched today. Was Drew Brees "benched" everytime Taysom Hill came in last season?
  7. This is heavily supported by analytics. You have to make a 2-pt conversion at some point. When you try it shouldn't drastically change it's chance of success. You are trying the 2-pt before the 1-pt to get your mandatory but uncertain plays out of the way early, so you have the maximum amount to time to adjust if it fails. The Panthers under Rhule have actually been pretty good regarding decision making on 4th down and 2pt tries.
  8. I listen occasionally. Standard post game coach speak for the most part; That's not a Rhule thing to be clear, it's most NFL coaches.
  9. Super Bowl was years ago All I heard was take the 1-2 yard loss and live for the next down.
  10. People can hear what they want to hear, but if saying turnovers are bad is throwing Cam under the bus then
  11. Dude dislikes recruiting so he's only headed to college to be an OC. He will likely spend a year or two on the staff of an established HC (like Payton) to rehab and make a another run at NFL OC/HC in a few years.
  12. Saints and Falcons lost while the Panthers didn't. Panthers move from 4th to 2nd place in the division.
  13. Yes. I know things are frustrating right now, but I've seen enough good things to want to see what a 3rd season (with a more experienced staff) entails.
  14. To me that suggests that an outside candidate will be targeted for OC. If you wanted to promote Ryan this is as good a time as any.
  15. I see that as more of a "keeping the seat warm" type of promotion while they wait for an external candidate in the offseason. Either that or they REALLY need Ryan coaching Cam and the other QBs.
  16. Assuming they get another win or two then he can point to a top 10 (maybe top 5) defense and an improvement in win total.
  17. Nice writeup. I think Rhule gets year 3 barring him leaving for a top college gig. Recent examples of coaches popping in their 3rd years include Zac Taylor in Cincinnati and Kliff Kingsbury with the obvious difference being they both grabbed their QB in year 1. I think Brady at minimum will move on although I'm not sure where; Brady doesn't seem like the college HC type. Brady has also seemed to hint that his long-term prospects in Charlotte are uncertain at best. I HOPE an experienced OC is brought in. I don't think Rhule has the leash to let another guy learn on the job.
  18. TBF the 2017 class was also considered "not great" and it produced Mahomes and Watson.
  19. Correct. If he gets a 2nd round tender it's ~$3.5M. If a team were to sign him (and the Panthers refused to match) they'd get a 2nd in the current draft. Original round tender is cheaper, but PJ wasn't drafted.
