I will say, I pounded the Tyrique drum and he had a lot of detractors in the draft build-up. That kid balled out for Chicago this year and he played way more snaps than expected. From what I’ve seen, some teams will voluntarily post their interviews but many just let it slip out through reporters/insiders and don’t track it for their fans.

Someone asked earlier on about coordinator candidates in the event we go defensive guy (Macdonald, Evero, etc.) or even if it's an inexperienced coach (Slowik). I'd be curious about Brian Griese in SF. For one, Slowik worked with Griese before going to HOU. And elsewhere, for Macdonald-- John Harbaugh is a Kubiak fan, those early 2010s Ravens had some Harbaugh/Shanahan overlap when Macdonald was there (w/Kubiak & Dennison). I'm sure there's some connections through the extensive web that is the social backdrop of the NFL. And then Wink was there with Mike for some time, now looking elsewhere after the NYG ordeal. All speculative but Macdonald HC, Griese OC, Martindale DC could be intriguing setup.

Pete Carroll took a liking to him at his football camp back in the late 2000s. Impressed him enough to bring him on at USC when he landed that gig. And impressed him enough there to bring him with to the NFL when he took the Seahawks gig. Then steadily worked his way up in Seattle during Pete's tenure. Similar to Macdonald -- little hopping, steady progression in a single place, worked under a great coach longterm in Carroll (like Harbaugh for MM). Worked his way up in one spot and impressed Bowles enough to bring him in as OC in Tampa. And what's interesting was a slight dip in Geno's play this year with him gone. Was a bit more prone to TOs and stalled drives. Now, his coordinator experience is just 1 year in, not much to go by. But the results in his career have been quite strong. WR coach for Baldwin and Lockett at their best, QB coach for Russ in his best year, then you saw what he did with Geno, and then Baker this year (Evans & Godwin of course help). I'm of the opinion you don't need to be a long time coordinator in order to be a HC. Just look at John Harbaugh. But it absolutely helps. He may need to season himself a bit more but the potential is definitely there and he's brought results with him at every turn. Sometimes, the right guy may be there and you may have to let him grow into the role. Timing is not always perfect.

I would just love to be a fly on the wall to see how Tepper is during these interviews. He strikes me as a socially obtuse guy that will go on tangents and not even really "interview" the guy.

It'll be interesting. Baltimore's D had an all-time great type of season. Top down, they are stellar and are very disciplined. Honestly, the Slowik v. Macdonald battle in the game could be between our two finalists.

They've got weapons for sure. I was a big fan of TB's cadence last night. It felt he was playing ahead of the defense and had a good feel for run v. pass calls. I just love that feeling of an offense keeping a defense on their toes and tired. Tire them out and them kick em' where it hurts. I also liked seeing that game sealing TD at the end to refute any sort of miracle comeback. Eagles were stacking the box thinking TB was just trying to run time and they went for a medium range TD pass. Great call.

Bolding the unnecessary when Mage made some perfectly fine points. You're extrapolating a lot from primarily one secondhand source via article and then turning it into some grand narrative. The Athletic is awesome, but not gospel. Tweets from NFL Insiders are not gospel. He's 100% right, we have no clue at the end of the day. You're treating "researching" (aka googling work history and finding tweets & articles to repost) as the end all be all in analyzing a GM candidate. These are not payer evals. The skills required and the skills they have to perform the role are not inherently observable to a fan of a team. Take things for what they are and accept knowns vs. unknowns.

I’m a fan from everything I’ve seen since Seattle. He’s very promising and 13 years of NFL experience ain’t nothing. He’s got a solid grounding. More to prove as a coordinator, but he seems to have HC potential.

His call on that last touchdown to seal the game was something we just don’t see here. He finished them off mortal combat style. Philly stacked the box to stop what would typically be a run, he knew, so just went for the sealing TD. Leave no chances, don’t take the easy way out. That’s the impression I got from a lot of guys playing for Rhule. It was a “Is this sh!t for real?/lol” Attitude from a lot of the players.

That could explain why a majority of our pool has been contracts & financial types. Have a few to look at instead of Dan with scouting and personnel experience but then a net of options that is more complimentary.

Big GM interviews today. The Brian Johnson/Alec Halaby chirp by Caplan is uh, erhmm.. And then the Morgan one - I think we all suspected he'd get legit consideration. I would hope there would still be some overhaul to our scouting dept even if its the case. The crew that coalesced on these last 2 drafts should not be something to model after.
