I hate to use this picture again but Brees’ eye-line is almost the same as Stroud and well above Young. The Brees comparison was just trying to link Young to a HOF level player to justify the height concerns. It’s funny that this never came up before the draft because Young’s eye-line height should have been way more concerning. I don’t care where the top of his head is because it’s his eyes that matter and I remember Bree’s saying he used to tilt his head up so he could see more.

Also, BC and Corbett are signed through 2024 and Bozeman is easily released after 2024 with only a $1.6M dead cap. None of them have shown the health or talent level to want to sign them long term. Again, we are in bad shape talent wise.

Some good players will slip so we won’t know until the 1st round is done, but I do agree that I don’t see that marquee OL dropping. I just think when people look at potential picks at 33, 65 and 101 and talk about OL and depth, that worries me. We should be drafting BPA and legitimately be going for starters. Yes, they don’t all work out but we’ve got no position that can’t be upgraded. This is a deep OT draft and if one of the really top guys is there and BPA, I would be hard pressed to pass and move Iky inside. We are just legit bad right now and we need upgrades at almost every position.
-
Honestly, I don’t want depth at OL as much as starter upgrades. Our OL was not good and they don’t appear to be getting healthier or better. If we draft IOL in the 3rd/4th, they better not be just depth. They better be starting or else we didn’t really improve. Personally, I’m not a fan of this draft. Washington hasn’t been near 33 in anything I’ve looked at so far. At 33, in this deep of a class, I’d be hoping for a potential DJ Moore replacement.
-
If we take the top IOL at 33, he damn well better beat someone out. That Powers guy from Oregon would be a great pick at 33. Our OL is not that talented. We had some great rushing games last year and that really made it seem like we solved out OL issues but how many teams would be knocking down our door to get Iky, BC, Bozeman and Corbett?

Kittle is a great example. He went in the 5th round but he was in a deep TE class like last year. Last year we should have taken a swing at a TE, not Hurst. Kittle went late but that year had 5 TEs in the first 45 picks. This draft is not like that. Even Kelce’s draft was deeper than this year. Ertz and Eifert went before Kelce and Reed went same round. If it weren’t for injuries, that would have been a solid TE draft. Eifert and Reed had talent but missed tons of games.
-
The one bonus is that this draft is deep at WR so if we take the right one (not TMJ or Mingo), we would be drafting a WR at 33 who in other years would be taken 15-20. That’s the point of BPA and drafting to the strengths of the draft. Over time, you should have an above average talented roster. We on the other hand have been living in reach city with picks at weaker positions since 2018 and we witnessed where that has gotten us.
-
To answer the thread question, it needs to be BPA for every pick in this draft and the next two. We are so far away talent wise it isn’t funny. We were a couple plays away from the first 0-17 team. Also, as a reply here, I don’t understand why TE keeps coming up. If we go TE at 33 or any pick, we are reaching or likely reaching. This is an awful TE draft class compared to last year. This is a deep WR class. If we go TE, it most likely means Fitterer hasn’t left the building. Unless we draft TE2 on day 3, we didn’t go BPA.

No you wouldn’t. You’d be a terrible agent if you let a top pick expose any issues. Young’s agent did everything correctly because he was pretty much the consensus number 1 pick. Stroud had the rumors to quell so performing at the combine was smart as well. If you had Young as a client and let him throw next to the other 3 (who threw because they absolutely were competing), you would have exposed him. Just because we fuged up doesn’t mean Young’s agent did anything wrong.

I still am amazed that people think Nicole made this pick, SMH. The proof is always the one picture of her hugging Bryce. They completely ignore the fact that she obviously got close to Stroud enough that he was even quoted calling her Mama Tepp. You are correct. Fitterer said Young was his top QB the year before and basically said he never changed. We also had multiple reports that Fitt and Reich had a love in where they told each other who they liked best before the process and after and they both agreed on Young. Ignoring the fact that there were articles about us loving every prospect, I’m still shocked that with Fitterer saying he was on Young way early and the hundreds of years of NFL QB/coaching experience that people think Tepper and his wife overruled everyone. We fuged up, simple as that and if our vet coaches let Nicole Tepper make the decision, that’s a bunch of scared ball less boys and we needed a change. Let’s hope Morgan and Canales aren’t more of the same.

So, if the offense can’t be fixed with Young, WTF are we wasting resources on Chris Jones? When we finally have a good QB, Jones will be in the bigger cap charges (we’d backload it in order to sign DB and Burns) and he will likely be trending down. Also, LOL at Chris Jones making us the best D in the league. We were in the bottom 5 of the league in scoring D. Sure, we did great against Ridder, but against competent non-rookie QB offenses we gave up 187 points in 6 games (31 ppg), all losses. Jones is basically getting us to 5 wins next year and maybe 6 or 7 in 2025 before Jones’s contract is now an anchor and our offense still sucks. These half assed rebuilds are why we are where we are right now. Fitterer sucked and it probably didn’t matter but we spent a ton of cap and traded a ton of picks to stay in that 5-7 win range for 5 years before trading for Young officially tanked us. Signing Chris Jones while you admit Young isn’t that guy so we won’t be competitive until 2026 at the earliest is asinine.

Fowler, Graziano: Panthers want to re-sign Frankie Luvu

I still wonder why this never seems to make sense. There’s no magic. We have no Mahomes or any other expensive star and yet we were close to the cap signing Sanders, Bell, Hurst, Bozeman and Thielen. The point of playing with the cap is to roll over extra and not waste it when you aren’t competitive. Then we could splurge on actual “top” FAs in 2-3 years when we have an actual shot. -
TE was last year. If we take a TE early we are likely reaching and we don’t have the draft picks to waste. CB and WR are the deepest parts of the draft. OT as well so maybe some drop.
-
Romo is terrible. Talking about 7 games in a row without an interception after he thought if Mahomes threw it deep it would be picked off. Majomes got an interception earlier in a game. SMH. He’s been wrong many times today.
-
Stupid. It’s reminiscent of Atlanta/New England. They are putting it on Purdy and he’s not the guy.
-
It wasn’t a muff the ball hit another player first.
-
It hit off another player. McCloud did the right thing except that he should have fallen on the ball instead of trying to pick it up.
-
SF is going to lose this game. Their offense has been 95% pass and nothing has been close to complete this half. At some point the Mahomes >>>>> Purdy factor will take over. 49ers D has been amazing (KC as well) but it seems. Welp there it is.
-
Feels like Atlanta and New England. Running game was doing well but this passing every down with Purdy is killing these drives. Gotta know to throw the ball at Jennings feet instead of losing 5 yards on first down.

Well, at halftime of the Super Bowl: Panthers Draft Picks 9 - Moody 4 - All other teams draft picks 0
-
SMH. People in here are delusional and just bitter babies. He didn’t force a trade and he didn’t sit as a business decision. Rhule and Marty/Fitt made the business decisions to shelve him once our seasons were over. I hope CMC (and Wilks) get rings. They gave their all for the franchise.

Had we been halfway smart, we would have traded Burns for the haul and kept Moore and CMC. Add in not drafting the QB who didn’t throw at the combine because he knew he’d look like dogshit and the Burns trade would have been sufficient to draft Stroud and having Moore, Thielen and CMC would have been nice for Stroud. The pieces were all there but we had the world’s stupidest GM who drafts another project WR in the 2nd instead of trying to get a TE in the massively deep TE draft and get a young WR in this deep WR draft. Morgan better get on his horse and draft like a champ so we know he’s not just Fitterer Jr. I don’t want a full decade of being the worst team in the NFL. We got our half-decade run complete already.
