Panthers will "pay any price" for Watson (via Sportsnaut via PFN)
Varking replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
It would serve us no good to make statements like we will pay any price or that we have to have him. I don’t think this is coming from a legit source. -
I get it. But that’s how you miss out on great players.

You shouldn’t punish the prospect for previous prospects contributions. That line of thinking passes up prospects like Herbert because other Oregon QBs have sucked in the pros. Look at Kyle Pitts film and numbers and compare them to any recent TE. None of them have come close to matching his production. He played SEC only competition this year and scored a td in all but two games. In those two games he had 5 catches for 81 yards and 7 catches for 128. He had major contributions in every single game he played. There hasn’t been a first round tight end in recent memory who had the production that he has had this year.

He does block. He got a bad wrap as a Sophmore because we didn’t ask him to block. He blocked dudes 1on1 with no problems this year. He looked great blocking against Bama.

Could we be sleeping on Mac Jones? Charlie Weiss says YES.

Mac Jones should not be a top ten pick. -
Report: Deshaun Watson would OK trade to Carolina Panthers

I’d agree but the other one was indeed poorly titled. -
I’d love this draft

I know I’m in the minority but I believe that Minshew can win here. As for Shough, I don’t like that he is transferring when he could start for Oregon.

Latest mock from the Athletic. Fields to CAr. Jones to NO
Varking replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’d take Fields over Lance and be happy. If we draft Lance we are keeping Teddy around for the duration of his three years. -

We can sit still at 8 for Lance. He’ll be there. -
I’m with you. Had a chuckle. It was silly.

I agree with you that there’s a difference but I think I see the players on the team wearing stuff like this all the time as well. Might not be a brand issue specific to one brand.

The question of Curtis. Tim Weaver wants to keep him.
Varking replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Samuel reminds me of Randle El. Looks good in spurts but make him a true 1 or 2 and it’s not a role he’s built for. -

Does that change anything I wrote? He’d be on the field more if he was a legit #2. He’s sometimes the 2 and sometimes the 3. If the team believed he was a 1 he’d be out there. Put him on another team where he has to be the legit #2 guy by himself again and his efficiency likely tanks. Four years in and his best season is 150 receiving yards shy of 1k. Curtis has had 4 games in four seasons of football breaking 90 yards receiving. That’s not #1 receiver stats any way you slice it. This was his breakout year. We got it. Let him walk and go somewhere else where he can make money. -

He’s on Moore or he’s on Robbie but most times it’s Moore. And it’s rarely Samuel. You don’t waste your top DB on a guy who averages 500 receiving yards a year compared to a guy who averages 1k. -
Philly will need a new QB soon.

You don’t see verifiable data on it because the coaches know not to match Curtis against other teams top guy. It’s like JuJu feasting when he had better receivers around him to let him match up against 2s and 3s he looked great. Make him the 1? Doesn’t look so hot. If the money is going to make you choose Curtis or DJ the smart money is on DJ. Id rather be the Steelers letting Randle El walk away than pay him Washington money. -

Because Moore also does his work against the other teams top DB and has produced 2 great years. Samuel matches up against the #2 or #3 DB on most plays. It’s easier for him. Switch Moore and Samuel and I bet DJ still puts up great numbers and Samuel drops being defended against by superior players. -
Possibly the craziest draft story you might read
Varking replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
It is when it’s Trevor Lawrence or Andrew Luck. You also don’t need a board to tell you he’s the #1 overall pick and the Jaguars are taking him. -

If you aren’t the #1 overall pick team… then you SHOULDNT EVEN HAVE LAWRENCE ON YOUR BOARD. -
The only TE I *want* in this class is Pitts but that’s not happening.

REPORT: Mac Jones not high on Panthers QB draft board
Varking replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Mac Jones ate this little boy. -
It’s about having more chances to get “your guy”. There’s no guarantee that he’s going to be a success but again… we were one pick away from Herbert and we heavily scouted him. We would be set at the QB position and could focus elsewhere. I also believe Okudah is going to be fine. He played this season on a horrible defense and when he played he was hurt. Imagine this year if 4 QBs go in the top of the draft before we pick. Then two years in a row we would have lost out on potential franchise QBs off a late season win. It’s pointless to argue about fans wanting C or Z player in the draft. Do you believe Brown was the Panthers guy this past draft? No. They settled for him because other guys like Burrow, Herbert and Chase Young were off the board. We need our franchise quarterback. We have sucked consistently for far too long.
