  1. I think it was Canales’ call, Dan certainly put up no argument, and Tepper didn’t really either. Thinking about it some more, I think the Netflix and video games comment signed his death warrant here. With that one statement, he showed how disconnected and uninterested he is in improving his game. He showed that football doesn’t seem to be really important to him, or he truly doesn’t realize that HE was THE problem. You never forget when someone you’re invested in says something out of line. Canales knew he had Mr TV and video games as the QB who would make or break his career. Bryce is the one that threw up the big middle finger to his team, fans and entire organization. He was probably 1 more start away from a non football related injury courtesy from the locker room. I seriously wish I could have seen T’s face when he read that his historically bad, gave up the world to get QB, went home to play games and watch tv.
  2. At Georgia, it was like watching the over competitive dad play the neighborhood 12 year olds at flag football.
  3. I watched a lot of UGA football. He’s just a different sort of cat. It’s only week 3 but he’s already leading all TEs in yardage and catches. He has that ‘take this game over’ kind of gear that the elite players possess.
  4. Not so much the coverage, but we desperately need someone to lay the wood. This dude doesn’t go down easy. I’ve watched him at Georgia.
  5. I was thinking that as well. If we don’t win time of possession I’m not sure we can win.
  6. Panthers historically suck at covering TEs, and this season is no exception. Brock is that dude. He takes games over and is going to be the best TE in football this year. We don’t have a LB that can run with him. Horn is the only one that has the size to contest catches but bro has wheels and is an animal to get to the ground. This could be a long day.
  7. Brees was the EXCEPTION. My God why can’t people see this. We didn’t outsmart anybody by drafting Bryce other than ourselves. In his prime Brees was NEVER A PROJECT. He was never just an ok QB before getting plugged in with Payton. In his second season in SD he threw for 3,200 yards and 17 TDs. His last 2 years in SD he threw 51 TDs while being sacked 55 times. He was already a stud before going to the Saints. he threw for at least 4,000 f-in yards EVERY SEASON from 2006 to 2018. He threw for over 5,000 yards in 5 of those. I really thought all of the Bryce people had given up by now. He’s not Drew Brees. He’s not throwing for 80,000 yards and 571 TDs over a 19 year career, while leading one of the most prolific offenses of all time. He would be lucky to have met the guy who once carried DB’s jock. Bryce is morale poison who throws hospital balls, 2 yard dump offs and pick 6s because he lacks the critical physical attributes to succeed in the NFL as well as the burning desire to BE A CHAMPION. He spent the offseason watching tv and playing video games. Every year wasted on him is a year wasted in developing other actual legitimate talent that exists on offense. Expect XL, the line, and pretty much the entire offense to regress if he starts next season. Canales gets it. It’s about making the Panthers win. Not Bryce. Imagine being his teammate and hearing that after his pathetic ass rookie season, he went home to watch tv and play video games in the offseason. Imagine what Thielen really thought when he first heard. He should have hired a personal trainer and throwing coach the last day of the season. He needed to immerse himself deeper in to football, he chose to withdraw. he is not and will never be a champion. Dan is putting together some good offensive talent that will be completely wasted with Bryce under center. He’s injected high level talent and veteran leadership on the offensive line. There are skill players with big play ability, who are running free. I’m trying to pump the brakes but this offense is shaping up to be pretty fun to watch, and it only took one offseason’s worth of moves. I don’t think we are as far as people say we are. So his big contract hit…. Want to know why divorce is so expensive… because it’s worth it.
  8. No big, famous and high drama qb please. A rookie qb is looking to go somewhere and not get murdered by an o line filled with practice squad players. Seeing Andy get quality protection will go a long way to enticing candidates.
  9. At least with as many 3 and outs that they’ve seen it hasn’t been too many.
  10. There’s going to be completely new energy not seen since… this time last year. Open the game with a go route for 40. Make a statement.
  11. Thaaaaaat’s right. Wow. Forgot he did that.
  12. Feed him like crazy over the next few games and let him rack up numbers… then look for the first contender who just lost a big wr to injury (happens every year) and get a third for him.
  13. Nah, he’s the awkward guy who focuses on his hand connecting, no eye contact, but still manages to squeeze before the thumbs meet, resulting in the awkward and nervous finger grab-redo-repeat finger grab sequence, while you’re still waiting for the first sign of eye contact… and then he gives you the nervous laugh, and you follow suit with your WTF was that laugh.
  14. No agent 58 is criminal 89 is one of the best football players of an entire generation but never a media darling… especially with how he’s shown out on some national broadcasts, and flat out stole the show. I’m not sure he was allowed to do that as the FNG among the broadcast group. I really miss his edginess and truth bombs, but I fear it is a thing of the past. It was like Mike Tyson in a football uniform.
  15. The media shot callers need a narrative to cover that they got it completely wrong. They crowned him and in reality he is laughably bad. It exposed them for the echo chamber yes men lemmings that they really are. They take their marching orders and report as ordered until the narrative is allowed to change from their shot callers. Anything that paints one of the chosen CFB programs negatively is never going to be a headline. Don’t expect it to change in to an ‘our bad’ we got it wrong any time soon, at least on the big stage. Our line may start getting some credence eventually but the Bryce turmoil may need to simmer down first.
  16. Maybe Canales saw an occupational hypnotherapist a la Office Space before the meeting. There will be speculation until the end on time as to who made the call. The good news is that it was done before the darkness reached the point of no return. I think the tone of the press conferences will be different in a good way. Less placating, maybe. The company line is obviously different when it comes to Bryce and hopefully if we start reeling off some wins and/or multi TDs games, he will become an afterthought. It’s not impossible to hit 30 points with this offense. Anyway, it’s going to at least be fun to watch some games again. The first 30 yd laser from Andy may make me pee on myself a little.
  17. Even more impressive to me is this: we played 2 teams who knew exactly how to play Bryce. They pressured every play and ran stunts. They stuffed the run, and he still had time to throw and guys were running open. He had a great pocket. Blind side pressure was well contained… holy poo. I even noticed people weren’t running completely free up the middle. When is the last time we have seen this? I’m telling y’all, the $$$ laid out on the line was the best use of resources this team has seen in years. Leadership. Guidance and teaching from high level dudes.
  18. Top 5 pick teams usually have crap o lines. It’s one of the biggest reasons why they lose all the time and don’t score enough to be competitive. The hamster wheel of trying to compete is real. Need an elite QB, draft one and put him behind your crap o line, he gets killed, your promising WRs go stale and you keep losing. A top pick QB going to a team with a built o line doesn’t happen all that frequently. Trying to build an elite o line through the draft is so tough when you’re starting from scratch. Those guys are usually gone by mid second round. Then, what if you whiff on a couple of picks. Or injuries. Years go by and no progress is ever made. This is why the more I think of it, the more I like how aggressive Morgan went on o line this year. It was an expensive buy, but very crafty. Instant infusion of vet leadership from 2 high level guys, Not just JAGs that can show the basics. This is HUGE for icky. He’s still a raw talent. Watch him kill it this year. We need to keep feeding the line with each draft. Morgan didn’t just drop 2 studs on the line, he changed the whole complexion.
  19. It depends on how the rest of this season goes. If the line looks good, receivers look good and Canales looks to be the one in control. Things look like they’re moving in the right direction? No worries.
  20. Are we seeing the beginning of Wilks Jr? Did he snatch his man card out from under the brass balls? I will say, his answers to the reporters questions had a ‘this is my team’ undertone. I bet there is a text message on his phone from Sunday evening from Morgan. It’s time.
  21. I think he is actually processing fine, but all the throws that he does see, he knows he can not make. Like he sees a crossing route open, knows what to do, but knows that his arm won’t get it done on that play, so he hesitates and then goes to his second read. Same thing happens again, but now he’s gotta make something happen or take another sack. He really does need Alabama open. He can be mad at himself. His one glaring weakness, arm strength, he chose to do 0 work on this off season. He could have done something to bulk up but he didn’t. I wish I could have seen SS89’s face when he heard that BY played video games and watched tv this offseason.
