Put it this way, if I was a fan of program in complete shambles just looking to get back to being able to actually compete on the football field I'd be happy about a Rhule hire. He's shown he can do that. I'm looking at you, Nebraska. If I'm a fan of a good program that being competitive but just not winning to the level we want and trying to take the step from competitive to contender I would not be happy about a Rhule hire. That's what he has not shown that he can do. I'm looking at places like Auburn in this category.

Agree that Rhule is a huge problem. Disagree that he has clearly done his job getting the right players to fit the coach's scheme. This offensive personnel does not fit McAdoo's scheme. These DBs do not fit our coverage schemes. There are square pegs in round holes all over the place. Maybe it is all Matt Rhule and Fitterer is a genius being held back by him. I'm just not seeing it. At all. Yeah, he'd be out the door with Rhule as far as I'm concerned. We're no better off currently than we were when Scott Fitterer walked in the door. I'd honestly argue that we're worse off.

He is unproven to be good because he's been bad. But if he stops being bad I guess he could be good. Y'all have developed full on Stockholm Syndrome. Here's what I'd do if I was Tepper. I'd crawl to Kevin Colbert and offer him a blank check to fix this clown show. You don't have to fully come out of retirement and be the GM. Just hold my hand as a consultant and help me get the right people in place and that's it. Name your price.

Says the guy who doesn't want to trust Tepper to hire a GM but is defending the GM Tepper has already hired like he's some proven commodity. At least when you did this with Gettleman he had actually assembled a 15-1 roster than went to the Super Bowl. That's what I'm saying here. Fitterer is completely unproven. There's nothing of substance to point to in order to argue that he's the right guy. Literally the only argument is that he might not suck if not for Matt Rhule. That's the entire argument. My argument is that's not enough.

Are we going to pretend he didn't look absolutely dreadful? Are we going to pretend that he didn't have significant durability concerns and then ended up on IR before the season started? Maybe he'll end up working out yet. But it would be a shocking development based on what we saw.

I'm talking about Fitts while poking fun at your tendency to dig in on certain stances and argue them for years even when everyone else has moved on amd accepted that yeah, that dude sucked. Listen, I liked Gettleman too and thought we screwed up firing him but hindsight clearly showed he deserved to be fired though reinstating Hurney was beyond idiotic. Like it or not, were tied to Tepper. He's the owner. He hired Fitts. That's why I'm so baffled with you acting like him hiring a GM would be so awful while defending Fitts who was hired by Tepper. You're essentially arguing against yourself.

Did you see Matt Corral play in preseason? You sure you want Fitts wielding that card when we swing on our next franchise QB?

He won 5 games with Hurney. He won 5 games with Fitts. He might not even manage that many again this year. Your argument makes zero sense. You say you have no trust in Tepper to put the right people in place when he's the one who put Fitts in place but you're all in on Fitts just like you were on Gettleman. If we fire him, we'll still have you defending awful moves he made years from now.

I'm still waiting for anyone to make an argument other than "he might not suck if not for Matt Rhule". That's the entire crux of the defense. He's been wheeling and dealing and we're fielding trash, our cap situation next year is trash, our draft capital situation is trash. How much further down a hell hole do y'all really need to watch this franchise plummet?

Okay... You went through these same motions with Gettleman. It's alright man. Sometimes we get excited about hirings/draftings/signings and they end up sucking. It happens. You don't have to keep blindly defending them for years.

You said you didn't want to trust Tepper with making the HC hire. Tepper hired Fitts. With the heavy input of Matt Rhule. That's reality. The rest is pure copium.

How would that be different than letting Fitts do it? Tepper hired Fitts, along with heavy input from Matt fuging Rhule.

Basically the only real argument I've heard for Fitts so far is that he might not be bad if we get Rhule out of the way. Sorry, that's just not enough for me. Hell, I was all for sending his ass packing with Rhule at the end of last season.

Don't get me wrong, I think Rhule and his staff are our biggest problems by far but I haven't been blown away with Fitts' moves. I'd say better than Hurney and about on par with Gettleman. Lacks the early successes of Gettleman but also lacks the later issues driven by ego fueled dick measuring contests.

Not to defend McAdoo, but this personnel doesn't fit his offense at all.
