  1. Yep. These posts talking about how Watson's value may be decreasing with time simply aren't realistic. He's a 25 year old MVP caliber QB. Those guys never become available. When it comes time to move him, the haul is gonna be insane. Denver trading Cutler to Chicago is probably the closest comparison I can think of to Watson potentially being traded, but Cutler was nowhere near Watson's level. Cutler was probably a borderline top 10 QB at the time who showed the potential to be more. He went for two 1sts, a 3rd, and Kyle Orton who was a serviceable starting QB.
  2. And he very well may. I'm just saying that I don't think there are many if any blockbuster deals whether it's a trade, big FA signing, or big extension that are made in a vacuum entirely excluding the input of the guy signing the checks.
  3. I honestly don't think there are many situations where the owner isn't involved to some degree when you're talking about mortgaging the future of the franchise. Could you imagine owning an NFL team and waking up to find out via Twitter that your franchise just traded it's next three first round picks? I mean, yikes. That just doesn't seem realistic at all.
  4. There may be no decision as it could essentially be made for us. If you throw everything you have into an offer for Watson and/or a trade up the draft board and don't get any takers, what else could you do? I have to think Tepper is likely involved in the process so if even he is like "Eh... we can't do anymore than THAT" on these offers then it is what it is. Honestly, in that situation, I think the only options we'd have left are of the Minshew trade or Trubisky signing variety.
  5. I would literally trade him for anything. Conditional 7th rounder two years from now? Sweet! Deal!
  6. It depends on just how limited those aspects are. If you don't have the physical ability to execute, it doesn't matter how great your mental skills are. Maybe you'll make a good coach, but you're never going to make a good player.
  7. There's a reason why we're so fixated on Watson. We're basically sitting in a spot where we're going to have to trade the farm to land a QB so we might as well trade it for an established MVP caliber QB rather than rolling the dice on trading for a pick to draft a rookie. Honestly, it's looking more and more like we're not likely to land the answer this off-season. We're going to end up with a Minshew or Trubisky and we'll likely be having this conversation next year about Howell, Rattler, and Shough.
  8. If/when the Texans end up trading Watson I'm gonna ban you for months of one dimensional poo posting.
  9. Imagine being some poo ass kid who will probably never play a down of football beyond HS talking poo to a former NFL MVP. Good grief.
  10. Yeah, I think it has a lot to do with the system. But still, it's a HUGE concern. This is why interviews are such a critical part of the evaluation process.
  11. I mean, it's not out of the question. I just assume that if he was being released it would've been at the same time as our other house cleaning moves.
  12. Maybe he's butthurt about Tre being released and/or he's sought clarification on his own situation and hasn't received any guarantees? I don't know, just spit balling.
  13. I don't necessarily mean high, but a mid-late round RB would probably be expected
  14. All I'm saying is that the most valuable asset in the NFL is an elite QB on a rookie contract. If you think you have one, you're not trying to trade a lot of valuable assets for an elite QB on a big money contract. It would be a very clear sign IMO that the franchise that has the best knowledge on Tua has decided that he's not going to be the answer. It would be the Rosen situation all over but for different reasons.
  15. Which tells you they think Tua won't develop into that. If they thought he would, they'd be retaining those trade assets and Tua's rookie contract.
  16. Anytime a team is willing to move on from a player they drafted in the 1st round (let alone #5 overall) after one year, that's about as big of a "buyer beware" sign as you can get.
  17. I don't know about that. Physically, he looks like a shadow of his former self. I think that injury is still playing a very significant role in his play.
  18. Away from Belichick, Weis accomplished very little. He had the #4 ranked NFL offense in 1998 with the Jets, but his other two years as their OC they #22 and #25. After he got fired for tanking ND he had the #12 offense in KC. After coordinating the 105th ranked Florida Gators offense, Kansas evidently in the throes of an airplane glue huffing binge decided to hire him as their HC where he put the capstone on his career's achievements going 6-22 and 1-18 in conference over the course of three miserable seasons. Dude sucked.
  19. Weis is a turd that was floated by Belichick. The difference between Brees and Jones in college is that Brees was playing at Purdue surrounded by run of the mill P5 D1 talent vs. Jones playing at Alabama where he's surrounded by a lot of guys who will be drafted before him. Purdue was a borderline top 25 team through the Brees years despite having a future 1st ballot HOF QB. In other words, that team pretty much sucked.
  20. No. Restructuring players and converting non-guaranteed salary to guaranteed bonus money in future years on contracts of players he should've been cutting is how Hurney created cap disasters. Throwing good money after bad is always a terrible strategy.
  21. I think we'd be looking at RBs pretty hard in the upcoming draft.
  22. Or we could just stay the course and do what we've always done - hope to surprise with a good year a couple of times a decade. That's been going oh so well.
  23. The Jets and Dolphins having higher 1st round picks and multiple 1st round picks THIS year definitely gives them a huge advantage.
  24. I think there's a 90%+ chance that Watson ends up forcing a trade. I think there's a very slim chance Wilson does the same in Seattle. He's in a good organization, he just wants to see them out a little more focus on keeping him upright. Odds are, he'd end up in a worse situation if he forced a trade and I think he likely realizes that.
