Zavala to IR, will miss rest of the season

This division is so fuging trash. If this poo continues they're gonna have to do a realignment just to avoid a trash NFC team hosting an away playoff game every year.

So was Peyton Manning yet some people legitimately preferred Ryan Leaf. So was Cam Newton yet some people legitimately preferred Blaine Gabbert. There were even some who preferred Zach Wilson over Trevor Lawrence. I find it very difficult if not impossible to believe that everyone in the building legitimately said yeah, Bryce is absolutely the best QB prospect available.
-
For the record, CMC absolutely gamed his combine weight too. But no one cares because he ended up being a great player. He wanted to step on that scale over 200, same as Bryce. Now he didn't game it as bad as Bryce did, but I bet his playing weight at Stanford was in the 190 range. I bet Bryce was playing at Bama 180 soaking wet.
-
I guess we should disclose our game plans and draft boards to the other teams, right? I mean, potentially misleading them about our intentions would be lying, right? Bryce Young didn't lie. He stepped on a scale and it registered a weight. It's up to the evaluators to interpret that. It's not really any different than guys going to combine prep camps to maximize their 40 times, etc. If a guy runs way faster than the tape would lead you to expect it's up to the evaluators to interpret that. Did the guy lie? No. He just prepped to try to maximize his draft stock.

As would you if there were millions of dollars in the line. Your job as a draft prospect is to maximize your draft status. It's the job of NFL talent evaluators to properly judge the talent available. You're upset at the wrong people. Anyone who looked at Bryce Young on the field at Bama and then believed that he's legitimately over 200 pounds on the field on game day just believed what they wanted to believe. They were already believers.

They both beat us this year. Hell, the Bears beat us with an undrafted FA rookie at QB who played D2 college football.
-
It's hilarious you talking about bias when all you do on this site is carry water for Bryce and meltdown at anyone saying anything the least but critical of him.
-
I said all along I could fully understand the arguments for and against the top 3 prospects and I would be fine with whoever the staff settled on buy my preference was Richardson by a hair, followed by Stroud, followed by Bryce with the caveat that interviews would be huge for Richardson's evaluation. I just always felt that Bryce had a very steep hill to climb physically.
-
Probably Tepper and Fitts. I imagine scots we're probably all over the place with some preferring Stroud, some Young, and some Richardson.

I don't know if it's a time issue as much as it's a meddling issue. If you don't give people the space and freedom to do their job it doesn't really matter how much time you give them.
-
I find it very difficult to believe that there was a true consensus on a 5'10" QB with no stand out physical traits. I'm not buying that.
-
They should just call the Panthers bottom 5 on offense "Zavala and company".
-
Yeah, the glitz and glamour and stars on the sideline faded quick. I think even kids are realizing that it's just all about Deion.
-
Colorado lost another commitment today. They only have 9 2024 commitments and the class is ranked 64th in the country. They have a grand total of zero 2025 commitments. Deion is begging boosters for donations because he knows he's gonna have to buy team through the portal. Sure looks like the wheels are falling off in Boulder.

I definitely had a good chuckle recollecting y'all's arguments when they were talking about that.

Interesting that they all noted this was Frank Reich's offense and the worse things got the more Frank Reich the offense got. Shotgun, three wideouts, absolutely zero pre-snap motion. Absolutely zero RPO plays when that's what Bryce ran constantly in college. All acknowledged the lack of vertical threat in the offense. One thing they pointed out is that Bryce is really struggling to recognize "NFL open". WRs aren't getting 3-4 yards of separation every play like at Alabama. Another thing they mentioned was that Bryce was resistant to the arm band and that caused some friction and likely led to some of the issues we saw with struggling with the play clock. Smitty basically said they should've told him you're a rookie, deal with it, we're using the armband. They all acknowledged that Ickey is probably best suited at OG but to let the next staff make that call. Smitty particularly pointed out that Ickey's feet are a mess. He harkened back to how Wharton played better at OG than OT but he had success and was position flexible because he had great feet. Smitty doesn't think it would look all that different for Ickey right now at OG due to the footwork issues. They also mentioned that moving him to OG would basically be admitting that you made a mistake picking him #6 but it's better to have a good OG than a struggling LT and with Bryce's height interior OL play is vital. Smitty went as far as to say that for a young QB IOL play is more important than OT play because that pressure is coming in your face. Either way, Ickey is a mauler. Pure and simple. Smitty said if he was a pitcher he wouldn't have any curveball or sinker or slider, it would be all fastballs all day. If he was a boxer it'd be all power punches, no jabs. It's just who he is and he has to fit your scheme. They all praised Evero and the work he's done despite having a different lineup practically every week due to injuries. That's the stuff that stuck out to me.

Speculation and rumors about Reich firing.
LinvilleGorge replied to Basbear's topic in Carolina Panthers
I've worked for bosses like Tepper before. Yeah, it fuging sucks. If I had a guaranteed contract I would've just mailed it in until they paid me to go away too. -
One guy has ideal NFL QB measurables. The other guy had to be able to overcome completely lacking NFL QB measurables.
-
Colorado lost another commitment today. They have the 64th ranked 2024 recruiting class and currently zero commits in the 2025 class.
-
Oh wow. Never forget one of the peak moments of shamelessness we've seen in sports.
-
I want Tepper to marinate in the utter embarrassment of handing the Bears #1 overall as just part of the haul we traded to get to #1 overall last year. This is going to end up on a very short list of the worst trades in NFL history with Stroud looking like a future HOFer. If the Bears knock one out of the park at #1 and Bryce keeps looking like a guy who doesn't belong on an NFL football field it might end up taking the crown.
