  1. If they’re going to neuter kickoffs this way, they should do away with the penalty for kicking it out of bounds. Give teams some hope of getting a position advantage.
  2. Might as well get rid of kicks entirely and change the name of the game to Passball. The National Passball League. 4th down? Elect to give the ball to the other team whatever the average of a current punt is. 50 yards away or whatever.
  3. Can’t kick out of bounds on a kickoff or they get it at the 40. (Ask John Kasay)
  4. I would guess it’s because height is easier to hand waive, since there have been QBs his height to have success. It’s been that way since the draft season started. The weight is a more difficult discussion that was only briefly touched upon pre-draft and not at all by the mouths getting fed by the team. It was my only real concern about drafting him, but he’s a Panther now so I’ll have faith that the regimen that Reich alluded to before the draft will work.
  5. Meh. He’ll get his “fair” shot, and if by some miracle he actually significantly outperforms Bryce? He’ll get more opportunities. If it looks even remotely close, obviously it’s going to go to the guy they think had a brighter future, the guy they gave up some picks and a starting WR for.
  6. Assuming everyone stays healthy and discounting Kamara’s potential missed games, it’s NO with us close behind. If you assume Michael Thomas doesn’t return to form, Chark breaks at some point, Kamara missed significant games, etc I’d say it’s us then NO close. TB and Atl have some weapons (a couple apiece, TB has a strong edge between the two) but the QBs will handicap them.
  7. Schein is a twat, but even before knowing who wrote the article or opening it I knew we’d be last. It’s a fair assessment. Atl and TB are trash at QB, NO is ok and we’re a complete unknown and could go either way.
  8. Assuming this is excluding the QB group of 1 since that’s the obvious answer, I’ll go with WRs. Thielen could be reinvigorated with a new QB and offense, Chark could stay healthy and progress to a dominate downfield threat, and Mingo could live up to his potential and be the next great WR. On the other hand Thielen could prove to be totally washed, Chark gets hurt in preseason and Mingo is a bust who can’t transition to the pros. In scenario 1 we have one of the best WR groups in the league, in scenario 2 we have one of the worst.
  9. Obligatory “PFF is trash”. nothing egregious here though.
  10. You’re right about that, defense was suspect overall but there was a lot of talent on that team. Too bad we were saddled with Rivera, would have had at least 3 or 4 more wins with a decent HC (not to mention winning seasons over the next 9 years)
  11. Yea he went from Rivera to Rhule. I don’t blame him for feeling that way. And on that note, I just noticed our full time HCs went from Rivera to Rhule to Reich….hope third R is a charm.
  12. I’m not comparing them to us. I’m saying no prime time games at all means they probably don’t think the falcons are gonna be good. Nothing is more interesting than success. I mean, it’s all speculation anyway and we’re splitting hairs over what schedule makers think lol. Not that big of a deal, so we’ll see. I’m expecting the falcons to not be a bottom 5 team but not in the mix for the division in the back quarter of the season either. Us, depends on Bryce’s acclimation to the NFL and health. Saints win it by default unless Bryce stays healthy and lives up to analysts’ expectations. Bucs might be a bottom 5 team.
  13. Sure, I don’t disagree with that overall, though I do think tb and atl are clearly inferior teams to us and no. I see us and no as 7-10 win teams, atl and tb as 5-8. There’s overlap and anything is possible, this division definitely has no clear powerhouse, but the outlook for the red teams is grim while the saints are pointed down but still have a decent qb and talent on the rest of the roster. Just getting old.
  14. Vegas has the Falcons as the team they think bettors think will be the better team. There’s a difference.
  15. I agree with your second paragraph, but I would like to point out Sanchez’s TEAM won four playoff games and if he has similar stats to a very young and still developing Fields with no weapons, bad oline and bad coaching, I’d say Fields’ forecast is much brighter than Sanchez’s pitiful career. I was just saying im guessing Fields had a middle of the road mediocre career like Palmer. Sure Palmer had some stats but he also had one of the greatest WR duos of that era and a good run game. That’s about what I expect Fields’ potential is. Moderate success if the team around him is really good.
  16. Eh, that’s an opinion. I dunno that the schedule makers micro analyze it to that level. They seem to usually base it on who will be good teams.
  17. I don’t think she is saying that it does. But no prime time games implies that the NFL schedule makers don’t think the Falcons will be good or enough of a draw to put them in prime time. Which conflicts with the opinions of some who think the Falcons are somehow loaded with talent and will compete for the division.
  18. Palmer was decent but Leinart, Sanchez and Darnold have been terrible and were all drafted higher. Jury is still out on Fields, so he and Palmer potentially cancel each other out.
  19. I hope the people that said Stroud will bust because OSU first round QBs always bust (all two of them) scream twice as loud about Williams next year. USC’s “qb history” is worse.
  20. Looks like the proportions would be right, but then….it’s sideways…
  21. Yea, I’m sure it’s a pretty stark contrast to see him next to NFL players now, maybe some people just kind of buried their head in the sand a bit because of how good he looked in college. You’re right though, as soon as he starts putting up the points like he did in college it’ll rubber band the other way and he’ll start getting mega hyped as breaking the mold and creating a new mold. Seems like our thing these days, leading the revolutions. First with Cam and now breaking that mold we pretty much started with Cam with Bryce heh
  22. Ah didn’t watch that, was just going off the previous rankings and comments he made during draft season
