DJ Moore letting secrets slip out?!?
ChuckWag78 replied to bLACKpANTHER's topic in Carolina Panthers
I love our all whites and our white tops with black pants. A matte white helmet would be sick. -
I want Joey Porter Jr or Cam Smith so bad!! We would have a nightmare on the outside with Horn.

Jalen Carter may be dropping after this
ChuckWag78 replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Tragic, but not something that should end his career before it even starts. People need to remember these are kids. He was probably still riding high after winning the national championship and feeling invincible, like almost all of us at that age. Someone is going to get a hell of a player if he drops far, like Sapp back in the day or Tunsil more recently. -
Keep an eye out for Alex Singleton, the linebacker out of Denver. Over 100 tackles the last 3 years, with over 150 last year. Has a history with Ejrio and should be relatively cheap.

Yes and no. From a cap perspective everyone plays with the same deck of cards. But cash over cap is in reference to the amount of cash you can actually pay to the players up front versus what the cap hit actually is. For example, let's say we signed someone to a 5-year 100 million guaranteed contract. In year one you're paying that player 100 million in actual cash, the cap hit can be spread out over the 5 years. So actual cash spend in a year versus cap hit in a year are very different. Having a rich owner we will be able to pay out more in those initial years which will attract more talent. It absolutely is an advantage versus cash poor teams.

Great write up. We absolutely can take advantage of cash over cap because of Tepper's wealth. Huge advantage in the long run.

Panthers met with Hooker per report

Should be ready by training camp. Below is a good recent interview. -
Panthers met with Hooker per report
ChuckWag78 replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I have been banging the Hooker drum for weeks, so I am a bit biased. I believe so-called draft experts have him ranked much lower than scouts/ GMs. There's no way he gets out of the second round, and I wouldn't be surprised if a team traded up into the late first to grab him (I hope we are that team). The ideal scenario for me would be to trade down into the mid teens. The extra picks gained from that trade plus some of our current picks would allow us to move back into the late first to secure that 5th year option. People comparing him to Malik Willis are just being lazy. They are not the same quarterback at all. He will use his legs, but he isn't dependent on them. I view his age as a positive, as all the interviews I have seen he's come across very mature and humble. He just strikes me as someone you can trust to lead a team. -
I would love to trade back to the mid teens to grab some extra pics. Take CB Cam Smith or Joey Porter jr with our first round and draft Hendon Hooker. I just can't get over the idea of having two elite CBs in our defense. We would be great.

Maybe the perfect coach for Chinn?? -
Pat McAfee had Hooker on his show today. Fun watch.

If Hooker didn't get hurt he would be a 1st round QB.

THE ATHLETIC: Potential cap casualties….
ChuckWag78 replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
Here is a former NFL executive breaks it down better than I could. It's all about the actual cash and owner has on hand to spend to attract/retain talent and prorate bonuses down the line. -
THE ATHLETIC: Potential cap casualties….
ChuckWag78 replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
The cap is meaningless when you can go cash over cap. We have the second richest owner in the NFL, everyone needs to stop worrying about the cap. -
Which draft day trades would you be okay with?
ChuckWag78 replied to Evil Hurney's topic in Carolina Panthers
None. Trade back in the 1st to get a midround 1st + other picks. -
Bold take: He doesn't make it out of the 1st round. People, not scouts, forget how good this guy was the past couple of years before he got hurt.
-
Also, we wouldn't have to trade up to get him. We could even trade down and pick up assets. That intrigues a lot of folks, me included.

Report: Reich eyeing Fangio as Panthers' DC https://www.thescore.com/nfl/news/2559413 Make it happen Tepper!!

I don't understand what some people expect out of a kicker. He only led the league in PAT percentage last year, and only missed two field goals. Perfect from 50+ yards. So let's focus on only those two kicks versus the 95% of other kicks, right we should get rid of him ASAP! To act like every single field goal in the NFL isn't high pressure is ridiculous. Eddie has proved he can do this job well and I guarantee you if we let him go Dallas would be happy to sign him same day.

Yea. I love the idea of taking a CB in the 1st. I prefer Cam Smith.

People seem to be sleeping on Mike Kafka as a candidate

Panthers in Violation of League Rules

WoMeN haVe No pLaCe iN OwnINg a fOoTball TeAm!!! None of you have met her or have any idea of her business capabilities/intelligence. They say she's done the training, but some of you are like a mob of angry villagers waiting to burn someone at the stake for any indiscretion. -
Anthony Richardson. Here is what I hope we do. Trade back in the 1st and draft Cam Smith mid 1st. Use the capital from the trade back + one of our 2nd round picks to move back into the late 1st and draft Richardson. I love the idea of Horn and Smith on the outside. Dream scenario for me.

STEVE WILKS - FINAL POLL THREAD
ChuckWag78 replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
I love the argument of saying we don't want another John Fox or Ron Rivera. The two leaders who got us to the only super bowls in team history. How's that flashy offense working for the Rams this year?
