I didn't say that they knew who the best player was. That's a different story altogether. Just because they say the best player starts doesn't mean they know who that is.

He's just repeating what the coach and team's philosophy is. What's the issue here?

Is the "Legion of Boom" approach obsolete?

What Are The Chances that Christian McCaffrey Stays Healthy?
Jon Snow replied to Pantha-kun's topic in Carolina Panthers
Depends how the team is doing. If they are sucking he will make a business decision and go out with a hang nail strain. -
I would much prefer that Sam get the abuse until the oline gels at least. When that happens if the kid is ready for the big show put his ass out there. Whoever starts at qb is going to have a rough go at first. The oline my have bright new faces but don't assume they will magically be top 10 right out of the gate.

Now that you have compared and contrasted what each inherited in players let's compare their years of nfl experience. Go.

Yes, foolishly extending a blocking TE for more than he was worth.

Cut Ian Thomas now. Eat the contract and roll with Big Time all the way to the SB. I'm down with what McAdoo's got cooking.

If you are just looking for an occasional winning season and playoff appearance now and then I guess it's good enough for some. Sustainable success means owning the nfcs and being at the top of the nfc every damn season. Not once every 10 years.

What I have not seen mentioned about the previous coaches is that yes they did get the team in the playoffs in short order but they couldn't build on that success. It was always a one hit wonder with those guys. It's easy to assemble a playoff team in a couple of seasons if you have enough talent on the team from the jump. It is much more difficult to build a perennial contender. That takes years of smart drafting and selective FA signings to keep the team strong and competitive. In short, yes previous coaches had success sooner but they could not sustain it because they didn't know how. If the had they would still be here. I say that as someone who is not a Matt Rhule fan and I hate to even have to bring it up.

According to Scott.... QB competition between Matt and Sam
Jon Snow replied to Lurk21's topic in Carolina Panthers
The only thing that Corral will need to overcome at this level (all rookie qb's wiil eventually) if he's forced to start day one is winning over the vets. There's more to being a starting qb than knowing the playbook. If your starter doesn't have everyone behind him in battle then the battle is lost before they even line up. Sam has lost any remaining support he may have had but that doesn't mean that you can throw anyone out there and the guys will follow them just because they are not named Sam Darnold. That's not how it works. They rookie will have to earn that respect if he has in hope of making it in this league. Respect is earned and not given, see Sam Darnold. Training camp will decide if the kid can rally support for his chance as the leader of the Panthers. Being a better qb than Sam is not going to do that alone. -
My thoughts have not changed on this qb class. I said that if the Panthers are bound and determined to take a qb from this class I would prefer Corral. That's not to say he's a sure fire lock to be great or even good at this level. I just think he has the best shot at making a career in the nfl.

If Tepper is true to his word then yes, Rhule is here for 5 seasons at minimum. Get use to it.

Tom Brady taking what should have been Greg Olsen's spot
Jon Snow replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
He will be treated like a king...if he wasn't already. -
That entire team was a perfect storm. Whether it was a masterfully thought out plan or plain blind luck, that team had the perfect mix of misfits that fit perfectly together. Sometimes it's not all talent that gets you there. The team has to have a certain bond that's hard to explain but you know it when you see it. It's not fake, it's not a slogan or brand. Whatever it was I have not seen any semblance of it since the 2015 squad. It's gone down hill from there.

The more I read up on the guy the more I like him. Whether he will be a good or great qb I don't have a clue. But I'm becoming a fan of his regardless. I hope he does great myself.

Been hearing that for years. Will be hearing it for a few more it seems.

Sign me up for a ticket on the Corral train. I would love to see him start day 1. The other options are just going to be hard to endure another season. But in reality it's going to be difficult for all these rookies to adjust to the speed of the game and the talent level they are competing against. I do not doubt he will get ready and take over eventually but could not tell you when that will be. I know they will test him well in training camp and preseason. Let's all hope he can prove the league and his doubters wrong. Because the alternative is a bitter pill I'd rather not swallow.

If Mayfield brings that diva crap here Corral will kick his ass. I'm starting to love this kid and I haven't even seen him in a Panthers uniform yet.

I hope Rhule is listening to Jordan. Please start Ickey at LT. And for God's sake do not put Elflein beside him at LG. Hell get the kid from Tennessee ready and make them a team. Anything is better than Elflein at LG.

The defense is not as good as the homers would have you think. It is a liability until proven otherwise as far as I'm concerned. The pass rush is still a weakness. The LB position is still in question and there's little depth outside CB. I'm not getting my hopes up.

Correct team structure has started. Now what?
Jon Snow replied to lightsout's topic in Carolina Panthers
Another shot at qb and acquire more depth everywhere wouldn't hurt.
