Rapaport: Panthers/ Tepper out of Watson deal

It’s like we were building a team on madden and then turned the game off in the middle of the roster creation. -
Rapaport: Panthers/ Tepper out of Watson deal

Rejected. Probably doesn’t wanna play for a college coach who is in over his head. -
We won the first three in spite of him. And if your entire season depends on an injury prone running back staying healthy you are doing it wrong.
-
Right. He would need an elite defense and top 5 line to lead a team to anything resembling a successful year. If any game falls on his shoulders hes losing it 99 out of 100 times.

“Most knowledgeable football fans” does not include our GM or 62 million dollar head coach. SMH

Results business, bro. If you aren’t getting wins then it’s a failure. You don’t get credit for “trying” in the NFL. Giving up 3 draft picks for a terrible QB was a mistake. Being so reliant on CMC again was a mistake. Not trying to build the offensive line with any decent players was a mistake. Sending another two draft picks for corners who will likely have no impact on the team was a mistake. Extending Robby and drafting another receiver in round 2 was a mistake. Of course everyone is trying to win. You shouldn’t get credit for trying if your decisions on roster building turn out to be worse than 99% of your competitors. That just means you’re bad at your job.

Who decided not to draft any OL in the first two rounds the last two years? Who decided that bridgewater and darnold should be our QBs? That’s where the problems lie.
-
Burrow is tearing it up now in only his second season. They also had Edwards-Helaire and Justin Jefferson. The talent level on that offense was insane and way above almost anyone they played that season. Pretty much anybody could have called plays for that group to succeed.
-
Well that would be one problem solved, with Rhule right behind him if it doesn't get fixed very soon.
-
I had forgotten about that one. It's closer but that Cardinals team still went 10-6 according to my research. They were led by Carson Palmer and were not a bad team at all. This Giants group is a bottom feeder, especially with all the injuries they have.

Ive been trying to think of worse losses. Yes we have gotten beat way worse before on the scoreboard. The losses that come to mind are the Pittsburgh and SF beatdowns in back to back seasons. And the 41-0 loss to the falcons in 02. The Cam “wardrobe game” against Seattle. But all of those teams had playoff caliber rosters and were good teams objectively. I’m struggling to remember a blowout loss of this magnitude to a team as bad as the giants.

Now do the losses if you really want to get upset.
-
Remember when they were scared to play him in the preseason? I think it was obvious that he sucked then. Too late.
-
Some common denominators from all four seasons: 1. David Tepper owning the team 2. Incompetent QB play 3. A terrible offensive line Wash, rinse, repeat. Now add an awful coach to the mix.
-
Last year's offense still looked much better without CMC. We were still scoring points, just couldn't close out in the 4th. It's worse this year, that's why people are upset.

When did you give up on Matt Rhule?

The TMJ pick was terrible considering other needs at the time. -
Another horrible draft pick. Maybe we should stick to 7 rounds of defense.

Exactly. The NFL is a week to week and year to year league. It’s not college where you and everyone else pretty much have a core group for 3-4 years after you recruit them. If it’s not working then you start over until you find the right formula. There is no 3,5 or 7 year “process.” You can be good one season and awful the next and vice versa. The teams that suck year in and year out are under constantly bad management who choose bad head coaches/staff and draft poorly. im more than a little concerned that we have a management problem which is a lot harder to fix than a coach problem. Rhule isn’t it and needs to be gone. Then our GM needs to find a way to acquire Watson or evaluate the best rookie QB next year and draft him. Everyone and everything else is pretty much a dime a dozen (including interior linemen) and can be built through free agency and lower round draft picks. TLDR Rhule is an idiot who is treating this franchise like a college program which is not how you win in the NFL. -
