  1. THey had him standing some--which is weird--moved him around the DL a bit---maybe that is it? He had some trouble and was suspended back in 2019--drugs, I think? going from memory, so verify.
  2. Zod knows that some mistakes are permanent and cannot be erased. If we could erase mistakes at any time in the future, Trainwreck would have been aborted at age 25. Don't mean that in a negative way---just illustrating a point, that's all.
  3. Its OK--everyone knew who you meant. The person bashing you has ruined the last 2 batches of fries at Wendy's, but now points fingers.
  4. May I suggest anti-fungal cortisone cream? Heard it from a friend.
  5. I lost to Fua of all the low-life pos people to bet with. He has yet to provide my pic. I hope it is something that reflects my virtue and honor.
  6. In my mock, excluding the picks that were wrong, I nailed it.
  7. Washington became the draft's bitch. Picking at 19, they wanted a QB and let it be known they would trade up. Rivera, used to a Cam Newton-style QB, watched Fields pass us AND Denver. Instead, Marty sits there and watches Fields go to the Bears (20 to 11). Were they afraid to trade with rivals Dallas and Philly, picking right after the Broncos? Could they have offered Dallas their first 2 picks and a first in 2022 to move up 9 spots? Instead, Hurney did not see the Bears with Dalton moving up. He did not see NE moving up (for some reason) so he sat there, watching the Bears eat his lunch. So now he has a roster with a 38-year old journeyman at QB and 2 undrafted castoffs from Carolina running the show. Thank God he is gone. However, in an interview for the Washington Post, Rivera seemed to talk as if he was picking the team. Folks--Rivera is not that smart. So they drafted what he knows--a LB. He will be fired this year.
  8. This is a very tough drill for a G with no C or T help. You know who else sucked in this drill? Norwell.
  9. they say he lost 20 lbs since --376 lbs? WOW That is almost 3 2021 Heisman Trophy winners.
  10. Are you suggesting that they were not wearing pads in college and they forgot to tie their shoes?
  11. It would rival the Steelers draft class around 1970. Pair it with last year's class, and that is how dynasties are formed. Not only did we draft a coach who will get the younger players ready, we have a GM who knows the market and we have a capologist who is gooder at Math than I am English.
  12. Quietly, without a lot of fanfare, NIXON is going to rock some worlds.
  13. I see 4-5 locks, not sure about David Moore. I see Shi Smith on this roster. Gonna get crazy for a second--give this to me for now: Anderson (with the addition of Marshall and Smith and Moore) may be more vulnerable than you think IF the cap becomes an issue--maybe a trade for that second rounder in 2022. Unlikely, but we could clear 8 million, get a 2022 pick, and he is in the last year of a contract. Let me say this again for all the Cyber Rambos out there---when you have a boatload of players at any position, you have trade value if you need it. Anderson makes a lot of sense SHOULD THE NEED ARISE.
  14. MFCEO 669,331 2 21,056 posts Posted 4 hours ago There are currently 12 wide receivers on the roster. The Panthers will likely keep 6. IMO, There are only three locks. DJ Moore Robby Anderson Terrace Marshall David Moore Shi Smith Brandon Zylstra Omar Bayless ps Keeping 7 is not a good idea--we may need an extra DB, Edge/DE, etc. We also have a pass catching TE and a blocking TE--and Ian. CMC, Chuba, and Bonnefon can all catch passes. (Bonnefon can also play QB, as Stevens can as well. Would it be interesting to see us carry 2 QBs, Stevens as the #3 TE, and Bonnefon as the #3 RB?)
  15. This is what OL competition feels like. We are 3 deep at every position, all possible starters (except RT).
  16. 2 girls in NY approached my friend and me and asked me (based on my jacket) what I position I played on the football team. I replied, "Tight End." The other girl asked my buddy, who did not play football, what position he played. He said, "Oh, I am am one of the loose ends."
  17. They snap the ball and need the accuracy and velocity of a baseball pitcher, and then (on punts) they become gunners. Y'ALL WANT SOME ANALYTICS? In 2008, JJ Jansen ran a 4.86 (ave) at his pro day. He is now 35 years old. In 2021, 13 years later, Thomas Fletcher ran a 4.92 at his pro day. He is now 22 years old. By the way, he benched 225 13 times, which is pretty impressive for a LS. So what does it all mean? Not much, but if you timed JJ Jansen now, he would likely be around 5.1 or so, making Thomas a better gunner in terns of speed. If they ran in the 5.3-5.4 range, it might be problematic, but anything in the 4.xx is probably good.
  18. I would say that a long snapper is not a "starter," but I would say that if anyone read that piece and that is what they walked away with, there is help. Its all about dispositions.
  19. I think (theory here--no evidence) that we were dropping to get him. I think we wanted Horn from his pro day and we spotted Shi Smith there-so we were going to target Shi as our slot WR. So they dropped a bit, and the T situation did not change much. They dropped again, and Marshall was still there--they had to take him. But then a few Tackles like Jalen Mayfield was taken at 68, and they knew a team in front of them (Denver) was in the market. We moved up 3 spots to leapfrog Denver and Detroit (and we knew Detroit had Sewell). Ironically, the next tackle chosen was 23 picks later at the 30th pick of the 3rd round (Spencer Brown, a RT) --, and then only projects Hudson and Smith went in the 4th. It just seemed to me that they move up was insurance to keep Denver off Christensen, even though they needed only a RT. I think if Mayfield had been on the board, Fitterer knew he would be chosen over Christensen by the Broncos, but they did not want to take chances after seeing Christensen's pro day and after seeing Mayfield go off the board at 68. I think the fact that Marshall dropped so far hindered our LT selection and caused the trade up. Marshall was an early second rounder and to see a need sitting there at nearly an entire round later was too much to ask.
  20. People are saying, "They could make some noise in the south, except for Tampa Bay." I say screw that. Of course Brady will pick you apart with a 20-yard cushion. Now we have some defense--some rush. Some offense. Bring it.
  21. And I am sure that is why trading back is always better value-wise than moving up. It is like sitting at a dance--you can give it your all and go after the hot babe, or you can sit there and let the alcohol set in make all the babes look hot and you have your pick of the litter. (This is only a joke--I joke like this with my wife to see if she still has a left hook. Since she does, I come here for my sexist, inappropriate humor. It is less painful.) Knowing what you want and your needs and having a plan allows you to let the draft come to you.
  22. Davos, good thread. This is going to be fun. We are 3 deep at every position, but only Moton is a stellar--that is OK and here is why: With CMC able to motion out, with a slot like Sli or Moore, with WRs on the outside like Anderson, Moore, and Marshall--and a TE that can run routes and catch (Arnold) and another that can punish blitzers or help on the edge--we have so many ways to offset their attempt to exploit our Offensive front. At LT, Christensen will need time to develop and add technique--with short arms, your footwork and technique are critically important. Were we terrible with Scott? Meh., but with a blocking FB/TE/headhunter, I feel better about it. Irving, Scott, and maybe hope Little improves. If not, hope Christensen is ready soon. We still have 4 options there right now. At G? We have 2 LGs who can play. Daley and Elflein--both better than Reed and that other guy we tried there last year----MOST OF THE PROBLEMS ON THE LEFT SIDE were due to DCs exploiting the high turnover, scrub filled LT and LG when OKung went down, Reed was exposed. Elflein is better. Note: Deonte Brown played both LG and RG in college and can pull. He needs to drop another 20 lbs and he can start on either side. He is VERY good. At C? Not a Paradis fan, but he is a veteran and smart. He needs 2 studs beside him. I am very happy we signed the G from Grambling from the SR bowl--I watched him and was blown away--low center of gravity and good feet. His anchor was incredible. I could not help but wonder, CAN HE PLAY CENTER? Stay tuned. I used to coach OL and I was sitting at a conference talking to EZ Smith from Concord one day--a very good OL coach. We were buddies, and I used to pick his brain (I was in my 20s). And I know HS is a little different from the pros, but he said something I never forgot: "You can deal with 1 weak OL, but you can't hide 2." Last year, we had 2 weak OL and 2 average OL and one stud for most of the year. I would say that Miller was our second best OL--he played beside Moton. That helps. Paradis played between average and below average, so he did OK. the LG played beside crap, and the LT played beside the LG, also crap. So where are we going to be improved: LT, LG, C (if flanked by better players) and LG. We have better players at both guard spots coming in as rookies. We addressed LT. So we are already better if you look at the 5 OL. But add CMC's range, a blocking headhunter like Tremble, an additional threat at WR--and we will be much improved. Giggity.
