Having been here watching games live since 95, the music doesn't matter as long as you can dance to it. Seriously, we dance for diamonds, flex, do the wobble and the rest. That is window dressing. The music I love is when Cam dabbed and got love from the crowd as he airplaned around the field. It was the sweet crunch of helmet to pads as Thomas Davis put the hurting on an opponent who coughed up the ball. It is the cacophony of Luke cheers after he gets to the runner before the poor guy can take a step or intercepts another pass for a pick 6. What we have been missing is tough physical play where we intimidate the opponent. The fans feed off the players which then fuels players to play even tougher. Wilks reminded us of who we used to be. Now Reich and Evero and Thomas need to keep their pledge to making our offense and defense aggressive dictating to our opponent. Outside of 2015 have we ever done that on both sides of the ball?

Evero's defense will be fast and aggressive.

I haven't heard many folks that think the transition will be difficult. We brought in folks up front who have played in a 3-4 and guys like Shaq have played in one under Rivera. We do have the personnel to run it. The bigger issue is how comfortable the players are running it and can they play without overthinking things. -

I know that everyone is excited about the offense but how well we do this year will be based on how the defense does. If we want to make noise this year we need to be a top 5 defense. Historically teams go deep in the playoffs due to a dominant defense. -
It is up to the team to provide exciting winning football to get the crowd going. It isn't the fans job to get the players excited. Fans pay lots of money to be entertained and players make millions to entertain the fans and get them going. Your suggesting it is the fans fault attendance is poor and the stadium is full of opposing fans. If you want fans not to sell their tickets then win more than 2 games out of 8 on offense. The fans I know and fellow PSL owners are loyal and start out each year hoping for good results. Since 2018 we have suffered as the product on the field was abysmal. But we will be back in force for Atlanta again. But if you want us back every game give us something to root for. It is up to the players not the fans to get the stadium rocking. Otherwise if we keep losing expect by mid-season to see more opposing fans. We are long suffering fans but we aren't Job, we have our limits.

https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2023/07/04/panthers-ejiro-evero-fast-aggressive-defense-chuck-pagano/ One thing I want to see is how aggressive this zone coverage will be. Historically it hasn't been.

If you were here during Cams early years you saw the stadium rocking. Fans here are like elsewhere, they are paying a lot of money for a good product on the field. If they get it, they are very excited. If not then it will be like the past several years, crap everywhere.

https://vikingsterritory.com/2023/news/analysis/thielen-forecasted Without Jefferson opposite him, the fantasy prediction is for a big drop off. With the goal to spread things around, will it matter a lot that we don't have a definitive number 1? Last year he had over a hundred targets and caught 70 of them. Thoughts on whether we go to him more or less..

Offensive support cast ranked 31st in the league

Next year you can make the argument we overpaid for him when his cap hit goes to 10 million if he doesn't put up big numbers but his cap hit is only 3 million in 2023 which is pretty small. And cap hit is all that matters. Tepper has tons of money but still has to fit it under the cap. -

You are right they did have a plan which is run the ball. They had more rushing yards than passing yards. You are right that Andrews had the most targets but that likely reflects Jackson's limitations as a passer rather than a design. Tight ends caught more balls because Jackson was liimited in what he could throw. That makes you tight end friendly by default not design. In 2020 Baltimore threw for even less yards than 2019 and Brown was the leading receiver not Andrew's. Part of the reason Andrew's got 700 yards was because he didn't have to share with any other tight ends. And again out of 2700 yards TEs accounted for around 1/3 of all passing yards. So no Baltimore wasn't tight end centric by design. -

In 2018 Baltimore passed for 3550 yards and all 4 tight ends accounted for roughly 1000 yards They had 235 passes and tight ends had 86. Snead, Crabtree and Brown were wide receivers who all had more yards than Andrew. Sorry but if your best tight end is 4th in catches that doesn't make you tight end centric by my definition. -
Are you buying into the media's narrative that we are third tier
panthers55 replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
I get that nothing is proven until the end of the season but this whole reticence to get excited because we sucked under Rhule is understandable but annoying. Fan is short for fanatic and the Huddle is usually full of then but this whole let's wait and see is weak sauce. It is sad to see. -

We started last year as a bottom feeder but actually finished pretty strong once Darnold came in. So if we went 6-6 under Wilks why should we revert to worse. Coaching is much better. Players have been upgraded. Bryce reportedly isn't processing or practicing like a rookie. So why won't we do better and contend for the division. -

More likely both Hurst and Andrew's were young and needed experience. Neither were great those 2 years. I don't think you can blame Hurst for not having a great rookie year especially splitting catches with Andrews. Hurst isnt great but with a cap hit of 3 million this year he should earn his keep. -

The Ravens werent tight end centric the 2 years Hurst was there. In 2018 Hurst had 13 catches and Andrew's had 34. In 2019 they both doubled their production. Hurst had 30 as the number 2 TE and Andrew's had 64 as the number 1 TE. But that was less than Andrews had in 2021 alone. Are they tight end centric now? Yes. But Hurst played behind a future probowler but when he caught the ball averaged over 10 yards a catch. So his production was understandable. In Atlanta in 2020 he was the number 1 and upped his production to 56 catches and right at 600 yards but fell to 26 in 2021 when Kyle Pitts had 64 catches for 1000 yards. Of course Pitts was injured and in 10 game had 28 catches for under 400 yards in 2022. So other than 1 great year by Pitts neither team was tight end centric when Hurst was there. -

Absolutely. So we looked at the talent , athleticism and potential and decided to take a shot. For what is is worth Olsen only had 500 yards his first season here so he was somewhat of a gamble that paid off. Especially trading a 3rd rounder. Do you think Hurst has been well used where he has been or could he be suffering from offenses that were not tight end centric. His cap hit is 3 million this year which is cheap and we have a year to develop him before his cap hit goes up to 10 million next year. And we can dump him after 2024 with a 2 million cap hit. Was he a deal? No. But there isn't the huge difference you suggest. -

If Hurst was a bust with 1700 yards in 5 years but we got him for free, would you trade a 3rd round pick for a 1st rounder who had 2000 yards in 4 years or would you think he wasn't worth that?? Glad we didn't think that when we traded Chicago for Greg Olsen. -
