  1. Actually they have kept everyone they wanted. Like Kamara's big salary, just resigned Thomas which was a mistake. They just signed Carr to a huge contract. Shake your head all you want but exactly who did they not sign who they really wanted or did they use the cap as an excuse to get rid of players not giving them good value? Nah you need to get with the present and the way teams manipulate the cap every day.
  2. You think fans worry about that? And strength of schedule is really overblown given strength of schedule is based on last year results not this year. With all the changes we are making we should be much better than last year so even though we could have a harder schedule we should still do better than 7 wins. You can make excuses already if you want but that is not the overall mood or expectations from most of the rest of us.
  3. We went 7-10 with Rhule starting off 1-4 and Wilks going 6-6. Winning less than 7 games is a big step back and honestly like it or not Wilks had us at 500 with crap for quarterbacks and an average OC. The idea that we won't do better and will suffer a 5th losing season won't be okay with this fan base. I know I won't like it. If the rookie isn't ready to win then put in Dalton until he is. But he doesn't have 3 years to get us to the playoffs especially in this division.
  4. Who cares about the cap. Everyone knows it is easily manipulated. Look at the Saints for a shining example.
  5. As much as we need. With an extension here and a restructure there we can create more. The cap can be easily manipulated. Look at how far over the cap NO was yet they signed Carr to a big contract. The cap was designed to promote parity but now it used by GMs to justify why they cant spend more money on a player yet when they really want someone they magically find the money and cap room to sign them.
  6. After watching Tua get ragdolled and suffering serious injury it makes me favor the bigger guy. Young might be electric and once he gets his NFL body more immune to the physical abuse. But he just doesn't look sturdy. Maybe it is me.
  7. More like Samirmagic. He manages the cap and structures the deals. Just giving credit where it is due...
  8. Darnold didn't fit Reich's scheme as much as Dalton did so he wasn't going to be the guy. That is fair. Reich is entitled to get his guy and do it his way. After Indy he wasn't going to make the same mistakes. Let's hope he is right and Dalton will do well in this offense so if it takes the rookie a few games to get ready we won't be in the hole already.
  9. The coach usually has the most say about players they want. The GM has to actually seal the deal and the owner has to pay for it. But I can't think of many situations where a HC coach was forced to take a QB he didn't want and it worked out well. I can think of a few where the coach had to take someone he didn't want or they were under contract already and it didn't work out.
  10. Supporting your players while they are on your team is kind of what fans do. Doesn't mean anyone is leaving or not okay with changes. All of this dislike for your own teammates seems way overblown and frankly childish in my opinion.
  11. Truth is with their scheme and all that firepower, Darnell has his best chance to succeed. He won't have to.put up big numbers if he plays.
  12. DJ will struggle to put up consistent 1000 yard seasons for Chicago.
  13. Shaq had career numbers last year and is one of only 8 players at any position who have made 100 or more tackles over the past 4 seasons. He is a great fit for our 3-4 according to our DC and will be a big part of the defense. I told you he was too valuable not to rework a deal and that he wanted to retire a Panther.
  14. Shaq said in January that he wanted to play out the last year of this contract and retire a Panther. Said money wasn't the issue and knew others had to be paid before him. So this is consistent with what he had said since the season ended. https://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nfl/carolina-panthers/article271055752.html
  15. He is going to.keep swinging for homeruns. At least that is what he said. He will likely cover his bases by moving up for a rookie and getting a vet or two as well. If you cover your bases and do what Tepper wants you dont have to worry about getting fired.
  16. And if that bold move fails then you are out the door as well. Cant put all your eggs in that one basket. Best to have a vet and a drafted guy to increase chances you will be successful. How many qbs make it through the season uninjured. You need two guys who can win games if needed.
  17. Strange isn't it. Just goes to show we either don't draft well or don't know how to develop ones.
  18. I suspect they will give him an extension to spread out his cap hit with little guaranteed money with voidable years so he can play as long as he stays productive or retire without much dead cap to account for when he leaves or is cut.
  19. Sure it can. We had a big discussion here about using cash over cap to be able to spend more than you have to account for in your cap by restructures, signing bonuses for extensions, voidable years and the list goes on. Cash strapped teams can't do that as they don't have 100s of millions to throw around.

  21. Georgia had a deep tight end pool so he had to share the catches with lots of other guys. He seems to me that he would be a huge matchup issue in the secondary. What did he run ? 4.65 sticks in my head. What safety or even linebacker wants to keep up or tackle him. Just the size differential is worth drafting him. He would contribute immediately and could eventually be a starter. I suspect we are bringing in a vet tight end through free agency.
  22. And if it doesn't look good we will push it further down the road. When you have an owner with plenty of money then cash over cap let's you manipulate the numbers and lower your cap. This restructure was built into the original contract he signed. This is the way....
  23. He is going to be restructured for this year. They might extend him and add voidable years but he said he wanted to retire after this season as a Panther and would be amenable to working things out.
  24. You have to like Washington's size which makes him a huge target. I would have no problem taking him at 39. Learning to run downfield 10 yards and turning around to catch a ball isn't exactly hard to master. And let's be honest with his size and speed if he gets loose in the secondary he is gone. Then again I like some of the other guys as well.
  25. Agree. I thought Shenault had real potential on the few plays he was in. And TMJ came on strong when Darnold came in. TE is a huge need right now. Add another dynamic WR, and of course solve the QB issue and we could have a top 15 offense right away and eventually a top 10 offense to go along with our top 5 defense and number 1 special teams.
