Just because you still have your first next year doesn't mean you have to get another quarterback with it but the point is you could if for whatever reason you felt Richardson wasn't the one or like Gruden, Reich starts collecting quarterbacks. Everything I see suggests that Richardson has the athleticism and arm of a great qb. But Reich said his players had to have good fundamentals and accelerated vision. I heard he maybe be erratic in his fundamentals and his decision making was suspect.

Right now iis the best time to be excited and optimistic. Even if we have heard most of this before by other coaches at times, we know things are looking up and Wilks showed our roster was better than it performed the last few years. Besides there will be plenty of time for criticisms in the Fall if we struggle. But Reich is a good coach who is a Charlotte transplant who think coaching us is a dream come true. If this works out we could have him for a long time and bring some real stability to the HC position. How can you not be excited about that possibility.

Given that most rookie qbs struggle including supposed sure fire guys like Lawrence, there is no need to find a rookie qb who has to start day 1. So the question is whether it is better value to try and develop a guy like Richardson over a season or two who could play as well as a guy like Stroud who looks more NFL ready and might play sooner.play right now. Is the better value picking a Richardson who might be there at nine versus mortgaging the bank for Stroud by moving up to one or two. If you are not convinced you have to have Stroud you could jump in with Richardson and still have your first next year in case that crop looks better than this one. You can't go all in just because you are tired of not having a franchise guy.

The fact that Philly can run and pass plus has a nasty defense is why they are going to win. If you can stop the chiefs running game and limit yards after the catch, you can stop Mahomes especially on a gimpy leg.

Exactly. If you have a good system and roster you don't need your quarterback to carry the team. That might be more important than who you pick.

Truth is that there are lots of quarterbacks who can be developed who aren't high picks. We have seen a number of guys who were forced into action like Purdy for SF. To the point that spending a ton on any college player has to be weighed against finding someone you can develop with similar athletic tools.

At what draft pick? 1, 5 or stay at 9. And at what price? This year's 1 and next year's 1 to move up or the ridiculous talk about 3 1s and maybe more. How did that work for SF with Lance. I would rather give up a 2nd for Fields and give him a proper offense that mortgage a bunch of 1sts for Stroud.

Reich has big shoes to fill. Our best offense ever was 2015 with Cam and Shula. We averaged 31 points a game. Best combo we have had.

Full control seems to be an issue. Money is no issue and it never got to the point of actual compensation. Just a rumor of what it would take which was a 1 and something else.

Plenty of time to see what happens. I don't see us giving away a ton of picks until close to the draft. Truth is if we weren't willing to give up many picks for Payton and he would have a profound effect on the team, I wonder how much we would give up to get to 1. It the best stat to compare qbs given it takes into account numerous things. And he only does what the OC calls. He can't help we ran like crazy against Detroit. He was a game manager and did what he could to win.

Again his passing rating of 92 included this with the Saints. Shows how really good he did the other 5 games. But lets only ficus on the one bad game and not the others typically huddle illogic to fit the agenda.

He was 4-2 in 6 starts that isn't mediocre. His passer rating was 92 which is above mediocre. So no he sure sucked last year but he was actually a bright spot this year. Even against Pittsburgh and Tampa he had passer ratings of 108 both games. That is above mediocre.

What exactly could he change? CJ was our best corner and got burned. Double him? The secondary was supposed to be doing that. You can know what to do and still fail at doing it. Do you really think Wilks said don't worry about it and let's let him do it a few more times. You really want me to believe that.

Simple. He was down 2 starting corners and was starting practice squad guys. Second there was supposed to be safety coverage over the top which was late. Why the confusion? Because Wilks was down several staff including in the secondary. So he wasn't able to get them the practice they needed and do everything else as a head coach. . I read Wilks was having to work with individual players in the secondary himself because he was short on staff and there was so much to do.

Who might win 10 games in this division if not us? And how does that mesh with all the excuses that are already being pushing by huddlers that we could have a losing season and make progress because our roster is so bad.

Sounds like a lot of huddlers who keep talking about the only place to find your franchise QB is in the top 10 might disagree with you.

I really wanted Wilks as head coach and Reich as OC although I can see that they both wanted the head coaching job and not a coordinator.

I wonder how hard Wilks would have worked if he had been told he wasn't in the running. I agree he wasn't and just got the interviews because Wilks has the support of players and fans

The funny thing is that I said before we hired him that Reich is my second choice. I am not against Reich at all. But fair is fair and there was definitely a different standard applied to Wilks so that I don't think he would have been chosen no matter what. Like you I don't think it was racially motivated but I do think it surely wasn't as objective as folks want you to believe. And Reich went 12-13 last year and this year until he was fired so the idea he was the absolute best candidate is certainly not as clear as folks want you to believe.

So do you think he did a good job adjusting?? 12-13 over that time.

So what happened if he isn't running the same scheme the past year and a half..

And how well did he accomplish these goals. I didn't pay attention to Indy the last few years.

Why would we focus on what Pederson ran years ago in Philly instead of the last 4 years with Indy when he was head coach? Is he running the same scheme now or not? I didn't follow Indy so I don't have a clue but I know what the Eagles run now.
