Wouldn't be mad about it. I do hope we spend a day 3 pick on a QB and the ceiling is higher than Plummer.

BREAKING: Panthers adding to coaching staff
Soul Rebel replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
That's the first thing I think of when I see Bevell's name.....kinda like Chris Webber and timeouts. I thought he was a decent OC previously and he was up for the Jets OC. Seeing who they went with instead of Bevell is concerning. He, Dave and Dan go way back to Seattle days so there's alignment there, as we know this franchise embodies. Looking back at Idzik, I do wonder if maybe 2026 is a year where he maybe transitions out from under Dave's wing. I thought they went farther back than 2019. Not that seven years is nothing in coaching, but maybe Dan and Dave want Bevell or someone with more expreience at Dave's side as we begin to make our move from cellar dwellers to NFC royalty. -
KT is a guy to keep an eye on in NY. Burns/Carter are nasty and if the Giants can gain some assets for Thibs, I think he could be a name on the move. Main reason I'd stay away is his looming FA in '27. We'd give up some important draft capital and then have to pay him...while also wondering if he can get back to his first two years rather than his previous two. I also could see Harbaugh wanting to roll three deep with his pressure rotations and just hang on to him. I question Schoen's ability to correctly navigate the waters, especially when he dodged getting canned this year.

True story.

TBF, the Hawks were at +6500 this time last year, and the Pats at +14000, so......

I was disappointed last year when DDS returned because he had first round written all over him. Odd to see that everyone returned and will end up worse off than had they come out. Allar being one of them. Some saw him as a late first last year and QB1 coming into this year. Wild.

Well done, MHS. I'm out in Seahawk country and they've been a fun team to watch. Hired their coach the same year as us, but went defensive minded. Fumbled the OC in year 1 but came back with a helluva hire this past year. I basically want us to find our versions of Ernest Jones IV, Byron Murphy II and Emmanwori. DB is our Leonard Williams, but he needs a partner. I think Lloyd in FA can be our Jones and I don't know where to begin with Emmanwori as he and Hamilton are 1 of 1. I also like the way they use a lot of 13 personnel and just grind teams into the ground on both sides of the ball. Give me Otton to add to our TE room who I'd have to think Canales and Idzik have an eye for. Center and OT are our biggest question marks. I think R1 is OT and grab the best center on day 2.

Nice to see an amazing former receiver offer to take on two youngsters on the brink of WR Siberia. By the same token, I'm also at my limit of the offseason IG reels of these guys stopping/stuttering and shifting against air making me think that this equates to success. At least XL is making an effort....let's see where it goes.

David Newton's Panthers Free Agency Preview Dancy Party
Soul Rebel replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I know there's not a lot in the FA pool, but these guys give me Kalil/Erving vibes. I guess beggars can't be choosers.....IDK. -
I do like that NO is probably going RB. I don't know of too many mocks that don't have Love in black and gold. Atlanta will have to buy their way back into R1. The Bucs seem to need what we need, so I am nervous they end up with Styles, or if Downs falls, they swoop in.

Dream draft selection. Likelihood of it happening.....not so much. PFF is always w/ a grain of salt since they're so metrics-focused.

McDonald would be interesting. Looks like a guy suited for an odd front defense and would equate to a bit more of DB as the 4T but obviously would shift inside in a 4-3 or 4-2-5 look. I'll be interested to see where the cluster of DTs sort out post-combine/pro-days. I think any of Woods/McDonald/Banks would help our D out immensely. Just depends on your cup of tea....or Evero's I suppose. I'd lean Banks given his size and length...it screams 34 NT, but Woods looks like the most well-rounded.

Sound write-up MHS, as always. Agree that the smart move that forward thinking franchises make would be drafting a tackle early, if not for sure in R1, depending on who's there. Based on early predictions we're choosing between Fano and Proctor. No brainer here...Fano all day. Proctor does not move the needle for me. In my mind, Icky has less future here than Brooks does. I love Icky, but he has been average as a top-10 pick, one good year where you saw the potential...and that was this year. He's built like a RT and his strengths are there, but he's always played left. I also feel like part of what has held him back from being elite, was his work ethic. He was known for it coming out, but feel like he fell right at home in Carolina and maybe didn't push himself as hard as he needed to. Throw in a major crucial injury that will take time to recover and a historical low return rate to current form, and the outlook is not great. Fano can play both sides and we need to also plan for Moton's departure. Either way, delaying drafting a tackle early this year will hurt us down the line. Our current OL is overpriced and needs to start adding draftees to start balancing out the inevitable changes coming in the next 2-3 years. As others have said, maybe Icky can replace Hunt or Lewis in a couple years when he's fully recovered....IDK. Also not a guarantee, but then you have to figure out his contract and it becomes even more clouded.

David Newton's Panthers Free Agency Preview Dancy Party

Not that we need any more kindling for the Fire David Newton crowd, but this content most Panthers fans could predict with their eyes closed. Reeeeeeal eye opening isht here, Dave. Clown on jackass. -
Yeah, sports radio here in Seattle think it's on Kubiak to go to the Raiders or stay and have the Ben Johnson path to wherever he wants in '27. There's advantages to both. Go to LV and have Mendoza as your QB1 plus pieces like Jeanty, Bowers/Mayer (12 personnel for Kubiak), and JPJ to add to. Three picks in the top 70, $80M in cap space (I'm sure can be opened up to more...especially if you trade Maxx) and an organization that has top notch resources....and a brand that has a rabid fanbase. Stay in SEA and look to go B2B next year and have your choice of virtually any team next year. Ben Johnson was wise with his choices and it's paying off. I'm sure Kubiak can relate here, plus if they beat NE, he will be one of the hottest names going into the offseason. I hope he stays in SEA and Evero goes to Vegas. We get (hopefully) an upgrade at DC and a day 2 draft pick for him. If it's not Kubiak for LV, I think it has to be Evero. I don't see any other candidates. Maybe McDermott? Shula? Seems like EE is the only name mentioned along with Kubiak.

Agreed. I think DT is being deprioritized or not thought of in as dire of a need as we should be. For me, I want a vet pass rusher instead of another rookie. Throw a bag at Phillips or maybe Hendrickson. Mafe is also a guy I'd look into (cheaper than Philips/Hendrickson) and think he's stuck behind some pretty talented guys in Seattle right now. Same goes for WR - Wan'dale Robinson would be at the top of my list if possible. I would say Pierce or Shaheed, but I think both get re-signed.

Panthers have a Jalen Coker problem.
Soul Rebel replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
He is so easy to root for too. Going from UDFA and surpassing a first round pick and (2) second round picks to earn a starting role is exactly what this team needs. If only we had Ladd instead of XL and trotted out TMac-Coker-Ladd our WR room would be complete & top-5 in the league. -
Idk..... toe tapping inbounds & spacial awareness of the boundaries for a WR is HS level skills....dare I say Jr High. Checking in with an official and being confirmed that you are offsides only to get flagged for not adjusting is also learned way before Sundays at the highest level of sport. I'd reach out to the Jets for Jermaine Johnson and see if XL + an early day 3 pick will bring him back to help our EDGE room.

Rozeboom and Chanel: Our ILB free agent wish list?

Nice! I'm always open to 25-year old players from SB winning franchises that are stuck behind strong veterans. -

I'm not too familiar with Chenal so this might be a lazy question..... Would a Chenal signing be any similar to us giving Turk a big contract? An under appreciated fringe starter in KC that teammates and front offices love and envision them taking off in a new city. -
I LOOOOVED Nick Emmanwori in last year's draft and seeing him thrive and become an instant leader of Seattle's defense this year makes me want a similar rookie beside Moehrig. In scanning this year's draft, I came across Zakee Wheatley from PSU. Not exactly the same build, but Senior Bowl measurements have him at a hair under 6'3" & 200lbs and runs a 4.4. His acceleration, ability to span the field and be a true center field coverage safety would allow Moehrig to float more near the LOS and play to his strengths with a worthy compliment. Wheatley is a modern day lengthy SAF and he excels in zone coverage, isn't afraid to get dirty in the run game and has a nose for the ball. We play such a soft cover-3 scheme that having someone with speed to roam would be great. I'd especially like to see us roll Ransom out there with these two as well with Horn/Jackson to secure that backend for us. Looking like a R2 pick as of now with some saying early third. If he truly is an athletic specimen that his numbers show, I assume he will only climb higher after the combine. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/25250463-nfl-draft-2026-scouting-report-penn-state-s-zakee-wheatley Will defnitely look to see how he does at the Sr. Bowl this weekend and in Indy next month.
