  1. A head coach has to lead men and give direction, an identity. An OC is suppose to design an offense and a DC the defense. His DC is doing a damn good job (his choice). Parcells lead the players, Belichick called the defense. They had decent OCs. How many people would have been successful in this environment? And to trade away your best player, but trade away a cancer on the team too (his choice). He changed the mindset already. The team in most games (except Cinn) were competitive. The team played hard. The team, the organization the city needs some stability. Look at Denver, bring in a top OC to coach and a top QB and where are they? It's not always a proven formula. I would think everyone wants a Tomlin, consistent winner, in most games, but has only one 1 championship - still good. Players love playing for him.
  2. Wilks is exactly what this team and city need. The local guy who players LOVE playing for. He's not flashy, but real. The building has been different since he took over and we don't look like a team about to roll over for a top pick. He using this season to build a winning culture after 2+ years of IDK what? Give him a 3 year contract with at least 2 years to see what he can do. The defense is showing it can be a top 10 defense. Let's see what a year of picks and FA signing can do for the offense. IMO, If we don't, he could be attractive to other teams each week and the price goes up and the length of the deal goes up. #Wilksfan
  3. This is off. RB was an upgrade (look at CMC in 2019) WR was an upgrade (Gina, Brown, Level, etc) CB - At least a push (Horne, Jackson and we did have Gilmore for a season). S - Chinn is an upgrade QB, LB and TE - it's hard to replace 3 of the greatest to play the game in their prime.
  4. But if decide to win a few games this year, then we don't have the 1st. Need more capital to trade for the 1st or 2nd pick. Call it a back up plan. Others won't bring high picks. With DJ, even Shi & TJ and our Line it's enough to build on. Defense needs another Derrick Brown. Got 2 good CBs. I like Shaq and think he's good for the team. (at least this year).
  5. What about a 1st (Saints), a 2nd, 4th and a 3rd and 5th the following year. Would you do it? I don't see anybody giving up 2 1st rounds (IMO).
  6. I didn't say everything would be fine. I said the narrated would be different meaning "whew, we got a way with one there. At least they fought back to cover up how bad they played" or something along those lines.
  7. Did the Baker and offense struggle for almost 3 quarters, yes. Did the team struggle stopping the run and tackling for more than a half, yes. Has CMC played at all this preseason? No. Did they put all it together and almost win it, yes. Missed FG and its bright spots and sunshine instead of gloom and doom. Game 1. Let's see how they respond in NY. But I will say the fans at the stadium were bringing the noise when it was needed.
  8. TENBar 58 is Thomas Davis's new sports bar that is suppose to open on Sunday.
  9. Good move on somebody who was going to get cut. I would expect to see another trade of an extra WR we now have, even if it gets us a 6th or 7th, it's something. More teams are doing trades than ever before instead off just cutting guys, using late round future picks like poker chips.
  10. With Zane, they may need the roster spot (if he can make it back) and with Sam they definitely do as he will be IR'd after making the 53. Get a guy like Laviska they could potentially cut Chubba, Roberts and another WR like CJ, using Smith and Laviska in KR/PR, Laviska as the 5th WR and the 3rd RB. Kind of takes 2 (maybe 3) spots & turns it into 1 roster spot. I think this moved is out of necessity.
  11. I would keep CJ Saunders and Brandon Z over TMJ (not talent reasons but health). Trade for a late pick. Maybe who needs a WR bad will take the chance.
  12. Here's a time when Ebron jumped behind my mixer and started DJing. IMG_4631.mov
  13. QB: Baker w/Sam as the back up, Matt red shirted. RB: CMC, DeOnta and Chubbard FB: Ricci TE: Thomas, Tremble and probably Sullivan or Thompson WR: Moore, Anderson, TMJr, Smith, Higgins, Zylstra & either Kirkwood or Sanders. (maybe they try and hide Sanders on the PS). OL: Moton, Icky, Boseman, Corbett, BC, Mayes, Elflien, Jordan and either Daley or Erving (who ever is less bad and because you need a 4th back tackle). DL: Barno, Burns, Matos, Haynes, Johnson, Brown, Ioannidas, Hoskins, McCall (love his size), Nixon & Roy (I do see 11, at least 10) LB: Luvu, Thompson, Smith, Sanford, Littleton, Wilson DB: CJ, Hartsfield (can cover TEs so almost acts like a LB in certain packages), Chinn, DJax, Horn, Woods, Robinson (Hayes & Dawson to PS) ST: JJ, Zane, Heckker (I don't see them keeping Roberts with Smith doing so good.) Obviously, injuries can change this or a trade of a WR for picks (we have a lot of good WRs). I can see them getting a DL when cut by another team. If Wilson gets suspended then getting someone of waivers to fill the slot (maybe thats why they just got Watson - they know something). I think this can be a real good team if they stay healthy and put it together. Glad the 1st games are not really tough teams to give us a chance to get a groove, build some chemistry and have good season.
  14. Most of you want to complain about Rhule naming him the starter LT. Either you give it time and have some bumps or move him to LG. They feel "in time" he will be a better LT. Maybe they learned like with BC if they gave hm the whole year at LT. But side by side, Icky is probably going to be a better LT so they started the process now. Unless he turns out to be a bust, he will eventually be the anchor on the line for years to come. Be patient. Og right, Panther fans don't know they word.

  16. Just saying if Icky was the LG, with Boseman at C and Corbett at RG that interior push on 3 & 1 or goal line would be incredible. So much size and power. We have 7 to 8 good to really good lineman. Finally!
  17. 2015 Championship game vs Cards. I was fortunate to be the DJ for that game and it seemed every song I played was great because the game was so magical. Man, I miss those days.
  18. Corral isn't ready (see game). PJ is 2-0 as a starter when being the main back up. They need to see - IF - they trade Sam, can PJ do the job more than just a game (this season as every player is different every year, unless you're an all-pro). They are ALL getting the mental reps. Corral is learning the lingo. He doesn't need to run for his life with 3rd stringers to get game situations. If this was the last preseason game, then I see your point but it's not. I think playing PJ wasn't about showcasing him for the league but for themselves. If Darnold plays well during preseason it opens 2 doors. A possible trade (even if we eat most of the contract and it's a low pick) and maybe having him as a quality back up is better. I don't see how it's ruining camp?? Corral was obviously not ready and they weren't playing Baker or Sam with the 3td+ stringers.
  19. I think you're all missing it. They need to know "if Darnold gets traded" can PJ be a good enough back up this year, because they don't want to play Corral. IMO they tried to get a quick read on PJ yesterday. Maybe they wanted tape on him for a trade. If the Panthers keep Baker and Sam, that's a good starter/back up situation as any where in the league and what only 12 teams started QBs for all 17 games. Need a quality back up.
  20. I (hope/wonder) if Matt doesn't do so well, everybody won't want him to start or be the main back up. I actually think having Sam as the back up (if not traded) is smart. You gotta pay him anyway. Matt should be red shirted. It did some young QBs good in the NFL getting mental reps, developing without getting the crap kicked out of you. I hope he's our starter in 2023 unless Baker jumps into the top 5 QB rankings, but that will cost us big time.
  21. The longer Sam does good through the QB competition (even though he probably won't win it) helps his value if a team is in need (like maybe the Rams).
  22. Just posted on PFT "On Wednesday, McVay explained at the outset of a press conference that Stafford won’t be participating in team drills, for now". If he doesn't start throwing within a week, just maybe they start looking for an experienced back up/fill in.
  23. I don't think they'll just dump Sam or trade him for a 7th round pick and pay his salary just to get rid of him. He's a solid back up and you can truly red shirt Matt. If needed, Sam can win you a game or 2. BTW, the back up is always the most popular guy on the team.
  24. It's not Sam's fault they picked up his option. If they didn't maybe he would be competing for the starting job signed to a 5 mil a year prove it deal. The Panthers took a chance just in case he had a solid year. Last year was bad all around. And they continue to show (and say) they will keep swinging until they get it right with a QB. If it takes 5 swings (or more) to hit on a franchise QB, at least they hit it because they keep taking swings. Give them some credit. And if Rhule is adapting his college building program ways to the NFL (it can take time), we have nothing to lose and everything to gain. If he is not playing for his job and the future of the team, then let's give him slack and see where it goes. Everybody is so critical of everything. They did say when they hired Rhule it could be 5 years to build a winning program. And the 1st year had Covid disrupt it. I'm not a homer but a realist.
