i think we need to take a couple QBs this year. taking one or even two late wouldn't hurt in addition to picking up one earlier.

that's the thing that i have to keep reminding myself of. no matter where you pick, it's going to be a gamble. no way do i think he should be the only addition to the QB room we make in the offseason, either. as fluky as QB can be, it would be hard to justify not coming out of the draft with a couple prospects. We've got to keep swinging.

as one who is just tired of losing so much, i wouldn't mind at all winning the rest of the season.

absolutely right. losing every game and winning every game on our easy schedule is just as likely to happen.

problem is that not only are we not a really good team, we've got a bunch of other teams left on our schedule that also aren't very good. the only team left on the schedule with a winning record is seattle and they have already lost to bad teams that we have beaten, even at home. so far they've been swept by the NFCS and seem to have already peaked this year. its not all that unrealistic nor is the scenario particularly complex that would have us go to the playoffs. that's what happens when your whole division sucks. we've gone to the playoffs before without having a winning record. no reason that couldn't happen again. that's the "benefit" of being in a sucky division. someone has to go.

could say the same for politicians or really any high profile person. world would be a much better place without everyone shouting to the world every thought they have. burn, twitter, burn.

Here's where I am. We could do worse. We have done worse. We could do better. I'd like to do better. If he is given the job, I'm not crying.but I'm also not going to get excited.

full disclosure...i grew up a clemson fan. i grew up hating the gamecocks in the process. i saw some people talking about how well he did against Tenn. after he and USC just weren't that good to that point. i thought it had to be a fluke. like most others, i just don't like the kid. i think he's a punk and i have to admit that what he showed us in that netflix show wasn't good. that is what cancer in a team looks like. i watched that clemson game thinking that it was clemson's right out of the gate. but rattler had me rattled the whole game. he kept doing stuff that just pissed me off because he looked so good doing it. rattler killed it. did something happen and he turned a corner? who knows. but what i saw that game and what i saw from him in the bits of the Tennessee game i watched, i couldn't help but wonder how well he'd do here. i still think he's a punk and could be problems for whatever team he goes to, but what i saw him do on that field....i don't know. if he can do that on the regular, it makes the jackass part of him a bit more tolerable. i'm not saying yes by any means, but my no has gotten a bit softer.

he looked really impressive against florida. he doesn't look particularly tall. is he a legit 6'1?

i think we need to brace ourselves to the idea that we might win out the rest of the season or at least win all but one or two. giving sammy the bye to prepare will only help him and the rest of the offense. chances are that we won't come out of the bye flat like we have in the past. seahawks are very hit or miss. they've lost 2 in a row, to the bucs and raiders. and they've lost to the saints and falcons. are they seriously looking like they could get swept by the NFCS? i think it's a definite possibility. playing at home is the thing that will help them the most, except they lost to the falcons and raiders at home so who knows? steelers just aren't good. they are looking at one of their worst records in over 30 years. worse...it seems like they've just given up. put that team on the road against a panthers team that still has fight and is actually winning at home with Wilkes, i'm not going to call it a gimme, but for those hoping for a loss for the panthers...i wouldn't bet on this one. lions...who knows? true wildcard team. who knows what to expect? they have a good bit of fight in them, though. with the exception of blowout losses to the pats and cowboys, they've been really competitive in every game and kept it close when they lost. playing them at home will help, but i expect this one to be a fight. then we've got the saints and the bucs, both on the road. we've already beat them both, even though it was at home, i think they are both definitely beatable at home. both are very inconsistent. as much as those hoping we tank, we could end up with anywhere from a 6-11 record to a 9-8 record and with any of those scenarios we could find ourselves in the playoffs. as crappy as the non-NFCEast has been, we could even win a game or two. at this point nothing would surprise me.

his death was a completely senseless and stupid tragedy. same with this "remembrance"

this is what i have been saying for years. he was good, but he was also luckier than any QB out there. guy could be running around all over the backfield scrambling to get away from the pressure and then start falling down and just launch the ball up in the air from anywhere to anywhere and there would miraculously be a WR right there making what looks like an incredible catch of a crazy throw and it happened so often that wilson got known as being this incredible QB. i thin that his WRs just got used to the idea early on that they needed to always be ready for an unexpected ball coming their way at unpredictable times and that kind of became their culture. he doesn't have that anymore. he ain't in seattle anymore. he walked away from his security blankets and he's been exposed.

I'm sure he's a nice guy and says and does "all the right things", but i think that what people are seeing is that he has worked hard to make sure that this is all that people see and he works hard to keep that identity. and when you have to work hard to reinforce an identity, no matter how genuine it may have been at one point, it becomes artificial, forced, and contrived. his identity as a nice guy became his brand, but eventually that brand overtook him and the result is this really weird persona that is hard for anyone to identify with or connect to. more than that, he's made himself almost inaccessible to his teammates. i don't think that people dislike him because he's a nice guy. there's nothing wrong with being one of the nice guys. in fact we need more authentically nice guys...which i think is where part of the problem is, he doesn't come across as authentic anymore. he comes across as someone who is trying to be better and above everyone, which rubs people the wrong way. and he's kind of weird/odd...and not in a good way. add to all that, that wilson apparently was coddled in a huge and unhealthy way, unhealthy way for him because it took away any opportunities for personal growth and unhealthy for a team because it set him apart as the ultimate teachers pet...the one in which the world revolved around and who was not held accountable for anything. the problem was that it worked...until it didn't anymore. they were able to remain competitive for a long time with that wilson centered culture. and then they weren't. wilson started seeing a world in seattle that didn't revolve around him so he thought, since he was so special, that he could go anywhere and they would automatically appreciate him. well, he went "anywhere" and he's seeing that the world isn't any better there. i'm just curious to hear where he places the blame fir the failure there. hopefully he's realizing that he's not as special as he thought.

At this point I'm just kind of along for the ride. I don't know what to hope for or wish for and I don't know what the best answer is anymore.
