Wisconsin’s Frank Kaminsky calls NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats ‘boring’

In his personal blog, Wisconsin center Frank Kaminsky (44) explained his reasons for returning to the Badgers next season, including that teams like the Bobcats are boring and hardly draw any fans.

Frank Kaminsky made a name for himself as a leader of the Wisconsin Badgers during their Final Four run.

Next year he’ll still be playing in college, but he’s already taking shots at Charlotte’s NBA franchise.

In a blog post announcing his intent to return to Wisconsin for his senior season, Kaminsky used attendance at Bobcats games as an example why the NBA appears “boring.”

“I know the NBA has their crazy fans and all, but if you look at all of their games, there are games when teams like the Bobcats get hardly any fans, and it looks flat out boring,” Kaminsky wrote on his blog. “At the Kohl Center, we play in front of nearly 17,000 fans every single time we step onto the court. When we travel, we play in front of sell-out crowds who absolutely hate us. Not because of who is on the team, but because of where we go to school. Who could leave that?”

Of the 30 NBA teams, the Bobcats ranked 25th in home attendance in 2014. The team averaged 15,518 people per home game, which was 81.3 percent of capacity. The Hawks, Timberwolves, Bucks, 76ers and Pistons (last) were the only teams with worse attendance than Charlotte.

Time Warner Cable Arena announced sellout crowds in Games 3 and 4 of the Bobcats’ playoff series with the Heat, but Monday’s Game 4 had plenty of splotches of empty seats.

Though Wisconsin’s crowd may be wild, the Badgers’ brand of basketball isn’t, and Kaminsky’s use of the word boring is interesting. Wisconsin has been referred to as “the most boring team in America” by Grantland.com.

According to KenPom.com, Wisconsin has not had an average possession length of less than 20 seconds in a season in the past five seasons. In each of the past five seasons they’ve been in the bottom 15 teams in Division I basketball in that category. And according to sports analytics site Hoganomics, Wisconsin averaged 67 points per game in the past five years.

Barkley and Shaq said this as well.Barkley said he would rather watch a real game like the Hawks and Pacers (when the Hawks were up by like 20). I don't know if I'm biased but I really enjoyed the series even if we lost.

Really I think it's just because we don't get any broadcasted games and people don't really know who we are. But with people saying these things I think it hurts our chances of getting our games on TNT, ESPN, or hell even NBA TV

Who really cares what that dipshit thinks. We don't want some ass hole that thinks he's better then he really is in the first place. What dumb ass didn't think about is there are a very limited number of opportunities available in the NBA. You would be wise to not alienate them since you want a job. There was no way TWC was sold out for game 4. They overpriced the tickets and had a bunch still available on their website on game day. Hell they were begging people to buy tickets at 3:30 the day of the game.

He also needs to be honest with himself in that due to his play. His stock has plummeted. The real reason he's going back is bc that is the only place where he can feel like a celebrity. His other choice is really finding out his value is not what he thinks it is and he's playing in Europe.

He's just saying what most think, outside of Charlotte fans. Most still think Charlotte sucks and is lucky for even making the playoffs and don't expect them back.

Just not a national team and that hurts with free agents and players in the draft as well.

    • Rhule was a disaster    I had a bad feeling when it was reported that he called the giants asking trying to get them to match the panthers offer or some poo.
    • With Rhule-  We brought in a college program guy to be a franchise builder. In reality, he didn’t understand how to coach professional sports or build out a professional franchise.  There’s a level of feel, communication and professionalism required to work with guys at the pro level. He only knows how to play coach with the college boys. I think he always knew that. But he grabbed the bag anyways.
    • I agree Tepper completely bumbled everything after purchasing the Panthers. Kept Rivera and Hurney too long, including letting Hurney last into Matt Rhule’s tenure instead of hiring a GM to hire the head coach, and then hiring Matt Rhule and giving him way too much power, then keeping him into year 3. For all the reputation Tepper has as having too quick of a trigger finger with coaches/GMs, it is entirely unwarranted. 2 out of 3 head coaches and GMs he kept too long. That being said, it would have all probably ended up fine if Matt Rhule had not been a complete egotistical idiot who felt the need to piss all over everything about the franchise to mark his territory. All he had to do was keep Cam on the last year of his contract, listen to 1st round draft genius Marty Hurney and go up and get Justin Herbert, and not trade for reclamation project QBs every year. And now hearing poo like this, how about not run your star RB in goal line drills his first practice back from injury. I wish Matt Rhule nothing but the worst in his coaching career because it was his hubris and arrogance that led to all of this.
