Kelvin Benjamin - The Right Pick

David Gettleman and the Carolina Panthers got it right.

Kelvin Benjamin was both the best player available and also filled a huge need at wide receiver. And when I say huge, I mean that literally.

Benjamin instantly becomes for the Panthers what we all hoped Brandon Lafell would turn out to be. A tough jump ball receiver that we could rely on in the red zone in addition to tough third down passes. Benjamin won't be burning many players with his speed, but has a fantastic ability to extend his body and make the catch.

The most important thing: He has all of the physical tools that cannot be taught.

The challenge now is for wide receivers coach Ricky Proehl to mold this young man into a formidable NFL caliber receiver. Proehl, who up until now has had only marginal young talent to develop now gets the keys to a Ferrari. I doubt there is anyone more excited at Bank of America Stadium this morning than Ricky.

Under Proehl's tutelage, Benjamin will develop into that safety outlet that Cam has never had. A guy that Cam can throw the ball high and in the general direction of when under pressure and know there is a good chance Kelvin has got it.

The Moose to Cam's Jake.

If Benjamin can improve on his focus (3 drops vs Florida) and his route running, he will have an immediate positive impact this season for the Panthers. This is exactly what the Panthers needed with their first rounder.

Well done.

Truthfully, I forgot how massive this kid is 6'5 240.  Red zone target and playmaker acquired.

QB-6'5 245 to WR-6'5 240

We've got two cats that won their teams title games in college.  Cool stuff.

    • For starters "Fetti" is the dumbest twitter panther "fan" in existence.  And there really isnt a close 2nd.  I mean the dude has velcro shoes for fugs sake.  Hes the same dude that keeps getting banned from Twitter.  Do you know how fuging stupid one has to be to be banned multiple times from twitter with once case of him posting child porn?  The moron actually challenges people to meet up and fight if you have a different opinion.   Yes he is that stupid.   As to the video, bro its literally one play from 2 seasons ago.   PU was 22 years old playing in his 5th year of college and Monroe was 19 in his 2nd.  Bit of a difference no?  And if one is trying to make some grandiose point or have judgment of a player from one clip 2 years ago then they are even bigger morons than I even gave them credit for.
    • Definitely my draft crush this year, although I had him in the 4th or maybe even 3rd. This kid got a mean streak!
    • All I know is that he posted about Freeling looking bad in the combine drills (position stuff not #s stuff), which reminds me of Little. After watching the fluidity of Burns, watching Little in the combine drills was a huge red flag. He was the only OL I absolutely didn’t want us to take. Hurney had to miss Little’s drills due to a meatball sub. Anyway, I didn’t watch the drills this year but this was posted above and it certainly makes me concerned. Little always reached and fell down. Hopefully Freeling is just raw but I’m concerned due to another Huddler’s evaluation of Freeling’s combine position drills. https://x.com/trappanthers/status/2047800343723938239?s=46
