OLine, Cam holding the ball too long, or bad play calling?

Here is how we addressed the problem already:

Released Smitty and thanked the others for their services.  Lotta reasons to keep Smith, but there were more reasons to send him packing.  Age, mouth, legs, cap, and influence all factors.Let Lafell, Hixon, and Ginn get overpaid elsewhere.  How will we ever replace the 120 yards on 10 catches these WRs were bringing each week?

Signed a receiving TE

Signed an unselfish veteran, sure-handed possession WR

Signed another unselfish veteran, sure-handed possession WR

Signed a WR who flashed for the Bus who can stretch the field.

Drafted a large target who does pretty much what a pass-catching TE can do and more.

Drafted a right guard (this does not sound like much, but it allows Chandler to focus on LT, and Williams, Bond to focus on RT).  Kugbila and Turner are the RGs).

Drafted a RB who is a good blocker and can pick up blitzes.

Sounds to me like we are going to a shorter, less-vertical passing game.  More play-action slants and outs.  TE drags and seam routes.  Fewer gos, fewer deep out and deep digs.

This is why PERHAPS that OT was not that big of a deal to Gettlemen.

Well i think this pretty much ends the thread.

I saw at least two times where Lafell ran lazy-ass routes, Cam threw it where Lafell was SUPPOSED to be, and the pass was intercepted.

Or bounced off Lafells hands and into the defenders. But i have been seeing that since Cams rookie year.

How many of those sacks, hits and hurries  came against the Bills?         Mario Williams seemed to live in our backfield that game.      Since Gross was solid last season, I'm assuming it was Bell that Mario pushed around all game.

Bell gave up 3 sacks, and 4 QB hurries in that game against the Bills.

Escape pressure by scrambling > throw away. Even if it means occasionally getting tackled in the process.

We're talking about 2 different things, you can escape pressure dance around in a circle a couple times and still get sacked...for a loss of yards...which then turns into a loss of field goal range, which leaads to a loss of points......when throwing the ball away would preserve those points.

I don't disagree wth every run, but every play has the potential for a good play or a bad play depending on the decision making.  Most of cam's scrambles just defy most logic, should he have to break 3 tackles to gain 3 yards?

Almost every play Cam was sacked, and that NFL replay or the live broadcast showed the receivers, they were all blanketed.

*Steve has slowed down considerably, and should be a 3rd target at best, not a 1 or 2

*Olsen was nursing a foot injury most of the year

*Lafell cannot get separation, and despite his above average size, cannot win jump ball situations

This year, we added another receiving TE, receivers that are sure handed and smart, and added the largest WR in the draft, I think it will be a considerable upgrade.

This team will continue to be a "beat 'em up for 3 quarters and win it in the fourth". It will run the ball to create passing opportunities and Cam's final instruction will be that a sack and punt trumps TOs. We picked up two of the leagues best move the chains WRs who are also perfect mentors for Gman's biggest gamble, KB. To his credit, if you're going to take a chance on a player, do it with one who scores TDs.

lol a receiving tight end who's not very good at receiving.....

He played 658 snaps, was thrown at 43 times, and caught 25 passes (58%), 5 drops....1 of them for a touch down.  He's no shockey, he's barely even a justifiable pick up....based on "potential"

There were 20 other teams with WR's who dropped more balls than us.  We were at the top 1/3rd, of course that can get better, and I would love for it to.  But we really played th entire season without a true #1 or a true #2.     It is the cumulative number of drops Cam Newton experienced.  And attempts were already mentioned in initial posts if I'm not mistaken, but if not then I can list them.  473 throwing attempts.

And RB you're correct, but how often does a 6th round draft pick last 3 to 4 years down the road?

You LOL a lot--

Again, Dixon is a receiving TE that we did not have last year.  You made the decision that he cannot catch--I was analyzing Panther moves, not endorsing them.  LOL you don't see the difference.

We threw the ball less than other teams, LOL, so we should have had fewer drops.

RB has been devalued.  How long do you think we are sticking with our first round RBs?  You don't draft players you think you will cut.

Analyzing panther moves, right, did you bother to look up Dixon's  stats before you anointed him a good signing or posted about him in any sense of relation?  He's simply not that good of a receiving tight end to say the things you said and implied about him.  etc.

This is where you miss the boat.  I never said he was a good signing.  You said that I said it, then went off on a tangent criticizing me for saying it.  Show me where I said he was a good signing. I implied it?   .  I am the only person who can confirm or deny an implication-so when I told you that you were wrong, you kept arguing.  Get a mirror and finish this debate you created.

"Here's how we fixed the problem"

"Signed a receiving tight end"

He's not very good at receiving, and if you didn't think he was a good signing then why include him as contributing to fixing a problem ?
