Has anyone else been having a terrible year?

Hasn't been a great year for me and the guys in my Celtic punk band. Acoustic guitar player lost his mom and totaled his car. Fiddler flipped his car and probably should have been hurt worse than he was. Bass players dad died after a long battle with brain cancer. Lead guitar player's house burned down and he had to put his dog down, all in the same week. My dad has cancer, two of my uncles are dying of cancer, my wife just had surgery, and I blew out both of my knees trying to get my fat ass in shape.

But my kids are healthy and I'm still on thid side of the dirt so I'll take it.

Damn man, that's a lot of bad luck for one band.  But your kids are a great thing to keep you going.  I don't have anything like that.  I'm alive, healthy, and still pretty young.  Otherwise, not much going on for me haha

Shut hits the fan for everyone at some point. Sometimes the only thing we can control is how we handle it.

Hope your year turns around. And I hope a scientist somewhere finds a way to bitch slap cancer in the face.

Xoxox to everyone

Can't say this year has gotten off to a good start.

Way to many deaths already...including a day with two didifferent funerals. Nobody should have to go through that.

One big expense after another, both expected and not.

I can go on.

On the other hand, it has been a great year for making new friends, and being a part of some very special healing.

Life has it's ups and downs.

Good and bad.

Gotta roll on.

Roll on.

Glad to hear some of you are having some good luck this year.  I'm to the point where if something good happened to me, even a small thing, I'd explode with joy.

Within the first two weeks of 2014, the band I'd spent the past 2 years playing with and devoting a lot of my time with kicked me a several other members out/replaced us.  Then my girlfriend of three years broke up with me, a week before we were supposed to move in together.  The day after the breakup, my dad calls me and says he has cancer (I've been repressing that one hard).  The company I work for is getting sued by the state of Texas so I could soon be losing my job.  Texas cancelled our contract so no matter what the result of the lawsuit I should probably get ready to be on unemployment.  Chalk up the little things like my rent going up for no reason, my car getting run into in the grocery store parking lot with no note (a nice $500 repair bill out of pocket), and countless other small things going wrong...

I just want to hear about the good things happening in other people's lives for a change, so brag away.

you win

    • I wouldn't trade Svech for the best FA on the market, Marner included. Matter of fact, someone would be giving up a top line scorer and a couple draft picks for Svech.  Look at it this way, if Svech was a UFA in a couple days, what does his contract look like? That'll tell you everything you need to know.
    • I know it a real homer take but Im not sure Id slam dunk take that list over Smitty.  Smith just played a different way, he had an ability to just take over a game as a matter of will.  The catch against the giants where he caught it and took a helmet that broke his arm mid air, the games against DeAngelo Hall, 05 Bears playoffs, Ice Up Son, the revenge game against us. Those other WRs may have better stat books but love him or hate him, good guy or bad, Smith just played a different game and when he did look out.
    • Absolutely would have to be anther young scorer with either ELC time or a long term contract...    Could see maybe Kyrou or Robertson.... But I really just dont see him being traded you dont trade your leading post season scorer on a long term deal when he isn't even in his prime yet..   not to mention unless you get more than one of those guys at best it would be lateral with unknown team chemistry.
