Most Irreplaceable Defenders - Kuechly #2

That Seattle will never win a superbowl.

If you look at the superbowl winners from the past decade, most didn't win it because of their amazing cornerbacks.

Would you take Sherman over Luke?

I don't see any dig at Cam.

He said Cam gets more headlines but basically the offense is mediocre. No, it wasn't a terrible insult to him, and factually both statements are true. Here's the thing though: 1. Put them together and it makes it sound like the offensive struggles are Cam's fault and 2. Regardless of whether he's pooing on Cam, what do those statements contribute to the paragraph about Kuechly?

That's how the rumor start. Reading somewhere.

Why can't he just be a good player? Does he have to be the smartest also? Does he have to walk on water too? It's hard to make a counter argument about how smart someone is because intelligence is so abstract. Keuchly is not doing anything that some other LB can't do. Now you're talking about him seeing the future. Come one, guy!

But that's a bit of a cop-out. Instincts are innate and unlearned. Kuechly's ridiculous production—his 164 tackles last season led the NFL and made him a slam dunk for Defensive Rookie of the Year—springs from both his physical skills and his ability to process information. He's so comprehensively prepared that it only looks as if he's relying on instinct. Which is different from relying on instinct.

Check out his tackle for a loss at Arizona: Just before the snap, Cardinals running back Andre Ellington went in motion, right to left. After faking a handoff to Rashard Mendenhall, Carson Palmer handed off to Ellington. Smelling reverse all the way, Kuechly strung the play out to the left sideline, where Ellington, rather than endure a collision, hit the deck, losing a yard.

I actually think that Star was the most irreplaceable player on our defense last year, but to say that Kuechly isn't smart is absurd.

Why do you assume he's smart? You don't even know what's going on on the field. Let me guess, the announcers said it.

Now I know you don't even watch Panther football. You have just outed yourself.

Our defense's strength is the DL and we were the #2 defense in the league. Teams couldn't run the ball on us and our DL was mostly responsible for that. So, yes, teams did barely pass the line of scrimmage. Where we falter was in the passing game and good TEs abused us.

We can't turn the story around and make it seem like we looked to Keuchley every down to make a play for us. Seattle looked for Sherman every down to make a play. That's a fact. When Sherman falter that's a touch down. LBs are cushioned between DE/DTs and secondaries. When LBs screw up they still have the secondary to help clean out things.

You can downplay Keek's intelligence all you want. No one, I repeat, no one agrees with you.

Yup, all MLBs are in line for DPOY. Even the pooty ones are just great. LOL at your weak attempts.

Not sure what football you watch. But in American NFL football you need smarts to play MLB. Throw in athletic ability off the chart, and you have Luke. He shuts down all the field, not just half. So that makes him twice as good as any CB.

You have made no sense all day. You make things up to try and prove your invalid points. And to top it off you are almost unreadable. Not looking good for the harpo.

For crying out loud with that nonsense. It's not enough to be just a good player but has to be the smartest too. Stop tainting the game with this bs. The guy hit other man for a leaving for christ's sake. He's dumb. A smart person would be prudent enough not to delve in such violent profession. Nothing about Keuchly says he stands out anymore than those other jocks he play with. He's dumb.

You're missing my point, but okay cool if you think he's dumb that's fine.

The guy can't even spell Luke's name correctly half the time.

He is not in this for any other reason than to rile folks up. He has made only 1 valid point all day. That shut-down corners are rare.

Other than that. He has done nothing but make it obvious he is just arguing for arguments sake. Just harpo being harpo. Mini troll doing what he does best.

Harpo, harpo, harpo.

I know this hasn't hit you yet. Cuz you would have to have brains to figure it out. But...where it comes to dumb...You have cornered the market.

I would think you are trying to be funny. But that would take brains. So that is out. The only thing left is the fact that you really have no clue. Entertaining for the rest of us. Not so much for you.

How do you quantify intelligence in football? Can't wait to go see my athletic doctor this weekend for the brain tumor you're giving me with the smart MLB comment you keep making.

How do teams like NE, Denver, Seattle, San Francisco, et. survive without those genius MLBs!

See, this is how we know you don't watch Panther football. Because if you did, you would know what Luke does.

Keep em' coming lil buddy. You are funnier than Top Gear UK. At least they are intentionally being funny. You...not so much.

This is a man hitting man profession. Nothing intelligent can come outta that. Just accept it for what it is.

Thank for confirming that you don't watch Panther games or any NFL games for that matter.

Ypperz. That is all it is. For folks that have no clue. For the rest of us? We know what it takes to play NFL football.

You have value as entertainment. Where it comes to football? Not so much.

He is much better at trolling than anything worthwhile. But hey, everyone has some sort of talent. His just happens to be trolling. He ain't very good at it. But you have to give him credit for trying.

    • CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers coach Dave Canales said Friday that starters will play in the first two preseason games, stopping just short of admitting he made a mistake last season holding them out. The plan includes playing quarterback Bryce Young, who got off to a historically bad start to the 2024 regular season that got him benched after opening 0-2. Carolina opens their preseason schedule Friday at home against Cleveland, followed by an August 15 road game at Houston and August 21 home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.   Canales said he will evaluate after the first two games whether starters will play in the third game. "Kind of going through it last year, we had a mix of veteran players, but [this is] predominantly a pretty young team,'' said Canales, who has at least six new starters to the defense that was the worst in the league a year ago. "I just can't pass up the opportunities. The reps in games are valuable. "[But] it goes to the night before, when guys know they're going to go out there, they've got to make a decision to play football. So it starts the night before with the prep. You start thinking about your plan, taking care of your body, making sure you get your rest.''   https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/45880676/panthers-starters-play-first-2-preseason-games-says-coach
    • You call the Cowboys purely for information, but we don't have the assets to pull off any realistic trade. Also, even if they would consider any trade, it's more likely they want to do it with an AFC team.
