At what point did you fall in love with Music?

When I was 12 or so I got given LPs of Boston's Don't Look Back and Kansas' Point of Know Return.

It was the first time I ever remember actually listening to the music and not just trying to learn the words.  I remember reading the liner notes on the Boston album and being blown away by the fact that Tom Scholz guitar was making all of those sounds and not a synth.  Likewise I remember getting lost in the complexity of Closet Chronicles and Hopelessly Human on that Kansas album.

I liked music before that.  My folks had a great variety of likes from the Kingston Trio and The Stadler Brothers to Hendrix and The Moody Blues and something was always playing.

But my love for it started with those two albums.

And to answer the other half of the question my favorite genre(s) are the wide and various flavors of progressive.

1989 - I was a freshman and I bummed rides to school from my neighbor. He'd play Led Zeppelin's Houses of the Holy album loud as poo on the way to school. So many great tunes on that album that I really enjoyed. Song Remains the Same took me of my days surfing at Wrightsville Beach and D'yer Mak'er was just so different. Then on the way home he'd blast Bob Marley The Legend album. G n R's Appetite for Destruction was also very influential.
