Tiny Richardson turning heads with Vikings

if two UDFA (hurst and Richardson) held their own against Clowney, kinda makes me more worried about him than impressed with them.

next draft, I suggest we just draft the top 200 players. that way, we should be covered.

This.  Getting real tired of the Hurst/Richardson threads boasting about them holding Clowney down.  Clowney only had sacks in 3 games last year, and only 1 in each.  That means 11-12 Left Tackle held him sackless, and the other 3 only gave up 1 to the #1 overall pick.  Using that logic, you could say that all 15 Left Tackles they faced, including the elite Middle Tennessee and first year D1 school Old Dominion, had dominant Left Tackles.

Clowney was drafted for his performance two years ago, and his potential in the NFL, last year was him half assing the whole time.

But as for this topic, there is only so much you can do in OTAs at O-Line.  They aren't making contact, so how much can you even see?  95% of the articles around this time of the year are fluff pieces praising rookies or FA acquisitions.

Did you watch the Chiefs playoff game? If not, http://www.colts.com/videos/videos/DaRick-Rogers-hauls-in-46-yard-pass-from-Luck/6b882cf8-388c-41e4-b7d1-b96f5eb91e51

And yes, he did have over 100 yards and 2 TDs in his second NFL game. He was a former Georgia player of the year and All-SEC player. Risk free stud.

Richardson himself basically played the #1 overall pick to a stalemate the last two years. Risk free stud.

Just saying.

lmao. 1 catch all game? we sure missed out.

And again that game v Cinch had some of the worst secondary play I saw all last season.

Risk free stud? Man are you delusional.

you have a vested interest in this as a tennessee homer.

we saw the exact same talk out of tar heels fans over hurst.  the difference is there are enough wal mart UNC fans on this board to have something of an echo chamber going on in those threads.

i mean using this approach shouldn't we stop worrying about wide receiver because philly brown was "turning heads" in OTAs?  maybe there's an ohio state fan that could drop by and tell us about the "low risk/high reward stud" we nabbed with that pick signing since he looks great in shorts?

dude wtf is your avatar? lol

Catch of the game that sparked the comeback.

5 star recruit, top 10 overall player regardless of position nationally out of high school, Georgia (same state our QB played HS football) Player of the Year, first team All-SEC, and per Colts writer, "saved their 2013 season". All in the last four years. Ignoring these FACTS is delusion.

No. Ignoring all the reasons why he went undrafted is.

You are acting like the dude was squeaky clean coming out o college.

If you checked my post history, you would see I like Rogers but only as a late rounder because of all his issues.

Saying he is a "risk free stud" is laughable.

Some teams, like th Panthers jut don't go for certain types of players, no matter the rounds.

And th risk is even if he's a UDFA, he messes up chemistry or does something stupid which hurts the franchise.

You do realize that 2/3rds of that means about as much to the NFL as me being little league mvp does to MLB.

True. It's an inexact science, but very few go from nobodies to stars in the NFL. Same with Richardson (and Hurst too btw to a slightly lesser extent).

I hate it too. I'm a Panthers fan and GMan fan. I rarely question his genius but my momma didn't raise no dummy either and with Rogers last year and Tiny this year the frustration is justified and real.

Rogers?

You mean the guy who caught 14 total passes in the 2013 season?

That Rogers?

    • PJ's completion % was 63% when starting games in Carolina.  Which I believe is better than Bryce when starting.  And again, 4-3 as the starter here and the LONE QB Carolina has been able to actually win with in the Tepper era.  If you ask a gambling gunslinger to come into blowouts.....they are going to go down in a blaze of glory.  Which he would do.  Yeah, he isn't good.  And gunslingers are supposed to have rockier stats than checkdown QBs.   So....why does PJ Walker have a better comp % as a starter than Bryce Young.  And for every knock you want to make about PJ, you can find something or a skillset that PJ does better than Bryce.   I didn't say PJ had good field vision.  He doesn't.  Tell me about Bryce after he comes off the first read lol.  Let me repeat, PJ Walker is not a good QB.  He is NFL depth and an in house arm.  Bryce Young doesn't belong in a convo w/ Jake and Cam.  He belongs closer in a convo with the backup caliber QBs Carolina was forced into playing.  Which isn't just PJ Walker.  But Kyle Allen.  Moore.  Guys like that.
    • Oh I see what you meant by memory. I will trust my memory, I have looked a a lot of those ball charts for Bryce and they trend a general pattern. They thing that has changed that I have noticed more recently is the reduction in the bunching of behind or at  the LOS passes over to his right.  Aside from the quantity of throws recently since the running game has become a more dominant factor.
    • Yes but you basically said you are going from a quick skim of those charts without doing the same for Bryce and/or Andy. So you are going memory vs. snapshots. That's not going to be a very comprehensive analysis.
