Are PJ and Hood here for a 2nd workout?

WOW!!

It is. If you're taking him it'll be based all on "upside" + what he did in the final four tourney. Which there's a lot to like.

You could compare his percentage to a guy like MCW: .307% 3P / .679% FT.

Shooting is a thing that can be taught. It shouldn't be a problem for a guy like Payton. It's not like you're having to change his whole shooting form like MKG.

Shooting is not always a thing that can be taught.  If shooting is something easily taught it would be something that everyone was proficient at.

I would be excited about Payton at #24, or if we traded back with the Bulls or someone and got him in the mid teens.

But #9 makes me a little woozy lol.

I dont believe that no9 is too high at all for Payton. Saw a mock having him go no8 to Sac. He's the Damian Lillard of this draft. Only reason why he's not projected high is bc he's from a small school. Put him at UK and he would probably be a legit top8 pick.

Payton has size and athleticism. A very good floor generator and great feel for the game. Just kinda raw and needs to work on shooting the ball. But , could be a legit PG and the future for a team like Charlotte.

If Cho, MJ, and scouting team know what they're doing Payton should be very high on their list.

Chad Ford has Payton going #8 as well.  Not sure if that is the mock you saw or not, but some are indeed projecting him that high

Payton is not that bad. He's not MKG or Biz. Guys like Leonard, Rondo, and even Splitter (FT) have been able to learn how to shoot.

I agree that at 9, it is a risky pick but the potential is there. He've shown that he can play with bigger competition.

Ford had us drafting McDermott and PJ in the 1st.

We would have two amazing shooters at least, might not be able to guard anyone, but we could jack up some threes.

Seriously though, that wouldn't be the worst first round

Game winning shots, a saving rebound or steal and you don't here poo from the Kemba haters (Chuck, Brent Jensen). Kemba can be killing it for a month. But as soon as he has 1 bad shooting game. Here comes Chuck wanting to trade him for Michael Kaybongo.

Hood is coming off as lazy to me... He skips a workout then this happens (4 times)

http://www.sacbee.com/2014/06/13/6481995/dukes-rodney-hood-pulls-out-of.html I could live with going offense in the draft. Our problem is offense, not defense. I'm not like WOW!! where I wanna draft and sign very single defensive players bc Clifford is a "Defensive" minded coach.

When a kid continuously proves he can't finish workouts, I don't give a damn how good he is on offense or defense, I don't want him. I'm sure his teammates would love him taking shots away from the other guys that actually work hard in practice. Pass.

I'm not talking about Hood!!!!!!!!!!!

McD and Hairston. Omg

But, my bad. I think I quoted the wrong post.

Talking about this post by Teeray:

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
