Sporting News Report: Stephenson battle down to Hornets, Pacers, and Mavs

We need to act quick. The Rockets are rumored to be taking up every hour of the 72 hours they are alotted to match the Parsons offer sheet (screwing with the Mavs).

Go ahead and give him a 4X10 and let's call it an offseason.

I'm not sure 10 will get it done. 11-12 minimum is my opinion to have a real shot at him.

Just my opinion though

The other thing is that the Mavs reportedly are lukewarm on Stephenson because of his antics and might target Ariza and Deng first.

They even scoffed at the mention of Stephenson's name just a month ago.

Mavs want him to play SF, and that would give then a 6'3 and 6'5 SF which they aren't thrilled about

I'm thinking we end up signing Marvin Williams first, then Hinrich, and then Lance. I think that could be affordable.

Kemba (Hinrich)

Stephenson (Henderson)

MKG/Marvin

Vonleh/Marv/Zeller

Jefferson (Biz-Zeller)

Get the big fishes first, then fill in around them.

Lance Stephenson is only 23 years old. He can rebound, shoot, pass and finish and will likely only get better. He has played in very big games as well and we have a position for him to play. I'd give him whatever contract he wants. Next year we start Lance and let Hendo be our 6th man. After the season Henderson's remaining 6 million over one year will me very movable so we trade him and Hairston becomes the primary scoring option off the bench (assuming he stays out of trouble).

    • The preference for smallish NTs was bizarre to me. I mean, you're already looking for a bit of a unicorn with a NT anyway trying to find a guy who can consistently hold his ground against double teams. Now you want to find a smaller, quicker guy who can do it? Yeah, good luck with that...
    • Yep. I had 2 shoulder surgeries (same shoulder) in college. What you say is true because the joint is a ball-in-socket joint and not like a knee, which is a hinge joint.  Another reason (this from my orthopedic surgeon) it is more difficult to overcome is because people want and need to walk, so they are constantly rehabbing the knee.  You can protect the shoulder and avoid using it.  And you can play with a banged up shoulder because it does not reduce your game speed much.  As long as I kept my arm in tight (close to my rib cage) I was fine--but when I extended my arm, I felt vulnerable and it was weaker, it seemed. A shoulder issue was common with LBs.  I don't recall seeing a LB in the dressing room without a surgical scar on is shoulder.
    • F- pick. Taking a hurt RB is the dumbest thing a team starved for tallent could have done in the 2nd. As for planning for 2025, they could have just waited since he brought nothing to 2024. That entire argument that they were playing the long game is like such a copout, just admit it was busted from every angle. They bet poorly and lost. It was a dumb pick and a complete waste of a chance to pick up a meaningful player this team still desperately needs. Picks like that is why this team is picking top 10 ever y year.
