Man.... Em hit the scene when I was in high school and it was a big fuging deal. Back then though dudes were dying over lyrics. When Pac and Big went to the projects in the sky em took the reigns. Yeah nasty nas was still repping queensbridge but Marshall took that poo to white, alienated kids everywhere.

We could relate to him. I felt like he was talking to me in his tracks. Then, we all grew up together. I think it home to em when proof died. He changed.

If you asked me top name hip-hop's top 5 MC's of all time, I'm going with... Nas, Rakim, Tupac, Big L, and my wildcard choice of Lupe Fiasco, even though everything post F&L and The Cool has been maybe above average at best.

 

Top 5 hip-hop ACTS of all time, give me Nas, Eric B and Rakim, Wu-Tang, Kanye West (burn me at the stake, but he'll go down as the best producer of all-time), and my wildcard choice this time around being Pete Rock & CL Smooth, mainly because Mecca And The Soul Brother might just be the best produced hip-hop album of the pre-mid-2000's hip-hop era.
